Just heard a singing winter wren at potter falls. I guess the timing is about
right.

My fun sighting for the day was a winter wren working over a downed tree on my
property this morning. Wasn’t expecting that!

Yesterday on a noon-time walk along Rumsey Road in Trumansburg, I came upon
my FOY Winter Wren, hopping around on the ground near running water.
Probably about to get a drink. Such an adorable little bird.
Also, I have a Song Sparrow regularly feeding on seeds I sprinkle on the
front porch.
On a short morning walk along six mile creek upstream from second dam I heard a
singing winter wren and brown creeper. Two days ago there were some 50
ring-necked ducks in the second reservoir, this morning it looks like there are
a handful still there.

Yesterday my husband said he thought he heard a Winter Wren for the first
time this spring, from down along the stream below our house next to and
north of Shindagin Hollow State Forest in Caroline. This morning I was
thrilled to wake up to the sound of one singing at around 6:40 am, from
down in
I just returned from a long morning’s walk in the McIlroy Preserve, Summerhill
NY. By far the greatest highlight was a WINTER WREN singing lustily from along
side the yellow trail (keep right on the way in). It came to within 20 feet of
me in response to playback and went on to sing
Winter wren singing its beautiful song at Mulholland wildflower preserve, just
past the first sharp bend on the trail from the parking lot.

Had a winter wren this morning at the Fischer Old Growth Forest in Newfield,
singing a slower-than-normal song. Recording here (song starts around the 8th

On a short walk west from Michigan Hollow Road up the south leg of the Abbotts
Loop Trail, Pat and I found a Winter Wren singing near a promising nest site
(overturned tree roots), a few Blue-headed Vireos, some Ruby-crowned Kinglets,
etc.
Earlier we stopped at the little marsh in front of
Touring the local waterfalls with my out-of-town friend this morning, at Upper
Treman I heard a winter wren singing, then at least two locations with
Louisiana Waterthrush songs, possibly same or different birds. Later at
Buttermilk falls, also a couple of Louisiana Waterthrush songs, again

Hi all,
Mundy Winter Wren seem to continue in Mundy. Yesterday he serenaded me with his
lovely song for quite some 10 minutes or so. Hope he has found a partner and
has been successful in raising a family. In my yard baby House Wrens are going
nuts. They seem to follow their parents like

I had a WINTER WREN along the boardwalk between the parking lots at the Lab
this morning. I heard a couple of ticks, then it popped up briefly to pishing,
and disappeared in the thick grass clumps among the trees. That's the woodsy
area north of the visitor parking lot.
No geese on the pond
I finally felt well enough to take a walk which was at Renwick Park. A Winter
Wren entertained me for 4-6 minutes. Very cute and chatty. Good Birding, Ann

Our SFO group heard the beautiful song of a winter wren this morning at Monkey
Run South (along the muddy SW loop trail). I heard one/it yesterday also, but
it was abbreviated and sufficiently off that I wasn't 100% sure that's what I
heard. Other notable sightings there include a pair of
WINTER WREN heard from Mulholland Wildflower Preserve parking lot, lovely song,

At the Mullholland preserve this morning I thought I heard a winter
wren singing across the rippling sound from the creek, but when I got
closer all I heard were junco trills. This was pretty close to the
parking lot.
At about the same time there was an odd whistling call -- something
between a
Hi Folks,
Thanks to everyone who sent Winter Wren sites in response to my
plea. After three mornings of looking, my friend finally got a decent
(but brief) binocular view of a singing Winter Wren in Shindagin
Hollow State Forest this morning. It was at the south end of the
Balsam Swamp along
Hi Folks,
I have a friend visiting once again from North Carolina who wants to
see a Winter Wren. (I failed to deliver this bird last year.) The
friend has had hip replacements and can't walk too far on a bumpy
trail, but can hike in flat areas. Does anyone know a good spot near

This morning I woke to my favorite sound of early spring, the exuberant,
spilling song of a Winter Wren in the valley by my house, next to Shindagin
Hollow State Forest. Six days later than I noted a winter wren's first arrival
here last year.

Today on my short Mundy lunch walk, I was stopped by a chuckling Winter
Wren. When I tried to locate him he hid behind the logs, but eventually
came out and sat boldly on the logs and yelled at me for looking at
him. Cute little guy. He was the base of stairs that come from Judd Falls
