Just found (2PM) a Male N.Shoveler on the Village side of Van Cleff Lake in
Seneca Falls. Swimming within a few yards from the guard rails, getting out of
the wind with some Mallards, ~24 Canada Geese, and one Coot. Beautiful
plummage. Pics taken.

Rd., Lansing, and edge of lake, 3 PM.

In early December, we had several days of excellent sightings of the
sharp-shinned hawk that has been hunting sparrows in the yew bushes on the

I'm sorry for not posting the details on this bird earlier, but yesterday
during the Ithaca CBC, I found a fairly bright ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER in the
Community Garden south of Farmer's Market in Ithaca. I flushed it initially
with a flock of juncos from the south end of the garden on the east
I spent over an hour in and around the community gardens on Rt 13 this
morning, accompanied some of the time by Dave Nutter and Paul
Anderson. We did not re-find the Orange-crowned Warbler. Here's hoping
that it took advantage of a calm evening and managed to escape south.
