Around 11:30 this morning (Sunday) Gladys Birdsall and I watched a large of
flock of (Common) Redpolls flying around the fields just east of the towers on
Mt Pleasant Road. She estimated 200 birds and I agree. More than there have
been of late up there.

Around 11 this morning, I caught sight of a largish flock of Common Redpolls
swirling over the clover field along the dirt road to the communication towers
on Mt Pleasant Rd. This is essentially where Gladys Birdsall first found them a

Around 11 this morning (Friday) I found a flock of 100 or so Common Redpolls
along the edge of the road at the easternmost end of Mt Pleasant Road, same
field where they spent much of the past winter. Cool that they are still
around...some of the males are getting very pink!
This morning 3/26, I went out to the garage and realized the chorus I
was hearing were Common Redpolls. They were really singing away. Went
in to grab my binocs. Note-it is hard to find tiny grey birds in
treetops of grey leafless trees. Not till they flew did I finally see
where they were.
Encouraged by Marie’s report, I went looking for the Tucker Rd. redpolls, and
found them, around 5:45! About 40, chattering, in the scrubby apple tree I’ve
found them before, and in the weeds below. I hadn’t seen them since March 1,
though I’ve been there many times.

There was a small (20 or so) flock of Common Redpolls near the roadside on Mt
Pleasant Rd about 1 hour ago.
And just now in my yard, a male House Finch was softly and tentatively warbling
his song from hidden in a shrub as the rain turns to snow!

At around 9am this morning, a large flock of Common Redpolls was flying around
the field just west of the observatory, south side of the road. Lots of very
dense weed stems in here, so they’re hard to see unless they’re in flight.

Marie's redpoll flock on Mount Pleasant continues to grow, with over 150
individuals now present, including a female HOARY REDPOLL found yesterday
by Sarah Toner and Logan Kahle. I saw it for a few minutes first thing this
morning in a part of the group close to the road before they started to
A flock of about 30 Common Redpolls continues to associate with the growing
Snow Bunting flock on Mt Pleasant Rd this morning. They all were in the weedy
field opposite the communications tower, both around 10:30 when I first saw
them and around 11:30 when I returned. Basically the same spot as
