I heard, an early for my location, Black-billed Cuckoo calling from the trees/
brush at the upper part of my property on South Rd in Caroline this morning.
Also FOY Ruby-throated Hummingbird, again early for my yard.

I also had a yard Black billed cuckoo two days ago. It sang twice. We are
now hearing it up and down Houghton Rd, at the intersection with Duboise.
Haven't had one locally in about 10 years. So nice to have them back. I
hope he finds a mate!

I was just wondering about the BB Cuckoos this morning. On Thursday I heard
one, possibly two, at the Blueberry Patch Campground in the Finger Lakes
NF. Friday, a good look at one in a tree at Lindsay-Parsons, and this
morning heard one briefly on Waterburg Rd south of Trumansburg where I live.

We have had both cuckoos singing ( if you can call a rain crow a
songster)for over a week. Alder and Willow flycatchers yesterday and today
and Eastern Wood Pewee three days back. Oddly, our usually dependent Green
Heron nesters are absent for the first time in years as are House Wrens.
On Sat,
Black billed cuckoo also heard singing at lower Treman state park, heard
distant singing approx from direction of the campgrounds.

New yard bird for me (actually a house bird): a black billed cuckoo was singing
a long series of po-po-po-po outside my house in Commonland. When I got outside
with my binoculars and camera, it didn't sing again and was not found.

Strange as it may seem (at least it does to me) we have been regularly hearing
a black-billed cuckoo here in farm country. Just this evening we saw the
elusive bird fly from the telephone wire into the willow and then I lost it in
the maple tree. I figured it to be more of a woodland bird, but
Early this morning, my recording station in Etna, NY was fortunate enough to
have a Black-billed Cuckoo fly almost directly overhead while giving it's
rattle or gurgle call. This is a fine example of this call type which is most

I think I that I was hearing a black-billed cuckoo yesterday evening, in
