Does it trust CoS or DSCP?

Well, basically, I guess what does it trust, it trust just like the Router
is trusting anything and relaying any QoS markings, am I right?

But as for SRR, HWIC module interfaces does not undertand the command
srr-queue or anything that begins with srr key word.

I noticed a weird thing while testing MGCP.

If I call out to my pstn phone and answer the call by pressing the answer

If I answer the call with the speaker button , it stays up forever.

I'm guessing the problem is I don't have handsets on any of my phones , so
when I answer with the answer softkey , the phone is off hook and sending
 dead air packets.
Somehow , mgcp see this as an error condition after two minutes or so and
 kills the call.

If the call is on speaker, I guess it picks up enough noise to keep the
 call from being considered inactive.

 Weird.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] gateway failed to register to GK

2011-12-06 Thread Mohammed Al Baqari
It should work.

One thing I noticed is to remove e164 addresses from GK static binding. The
reason is that your RRQ request is sending multiple DNs but you are
configuring two only on GK. There is a mismatch between the configured DNs
on GK and the actual DNs sent from gateway.

Try not to configure DNs in static binding. It will register and all DNs
will be taken automatically from your RRQ.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Problem with Attendant Console

2011-12-06 Thread Rynard Coetzee
Hi Guys
I`m busy with Volume 2 Lab 1 and I have an issue with the AC setup ,my Always
route member has been configured and added last in the hunt list ,but when I
phone the ac pilot it sends me to the Voicemail for the member that was chosen
in the hunt list. I have created a CTI RP with number *5002 and I have a mask
of configured on my VM profile ,and this number is my Always route
member.
I have also tried to set the queue hold time at 5 seconds ,but it still rings
for about 12 seconds and then gets forwarded to the VM for the number that the
call was ringing at.
Any ideas ?

One thing I noticed is to remove e164 addresses from GK static binding. The
reason is that your RRQ request is sending multiple DNs but you are configuring
two only on GK. There is a mismatch between the configured DNs on GK and the
actual DNs sent from gateway.

Try not to configure DNs in static binding. It will register and all DNs will

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] gateway failed to register to GK

2011-12-06 Thread Mohammed Al Baqari
What I said to remove only e164 numbers not full static binding.

Your numbers received in RRQ aren't matching the numbers configured in your
static binding. This miss match create issue.

Do one thing ..

Disable e164 registration to gatekeeper on gateway . then use static binding
on GK. This won't send DNs in RRQ and then you can add any DNs in manual
mapping.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Output Queue mappings

2011-12-06 Thread datucha123 datucha123
Hello,

As I know Packet to output Queue mapping in SRR is done based on QoS label,
and QoS label is based on the trust. For instance is DSCP is trusted then
the QoS label is generated based on DSCP, and if the CoS has been trusted
then the QoS label is generated by the CoS value. Please refer to QoS
configuration on 3560 Figure 31-1.

So based on that, when the CoS is trusted, the output queue is using the
CoS mappings, while when the DSCP is trusted, then the DSCP queue mappings
are used.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Frame Relay Traffic Shaping

2011-12-06 Thread Mohammed Al Baqari
Yes FRTS uses average traffic shaping. Peak shaping can't be achieved in
FRTS.

Now setting Be to zero depends on the requirement. Zero means that you won't
exceed your CIR. But if it has a value then you can exceed the CIR based on
debt and compound debt concept as in policing with be value (single color
dual bucket).

As I guess the FRTS uses the Average Shaping method, am I right?

Also, when using shaping, either FRTS or any other variant, we have to
always set Be to 0, when the Voice is also traversing that Shaper. Correct?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] QoS for HWIC module

2011-12-06 Thread Mohammed Al Baqari
Hi,

Just to make this clear.

Trusting in HWIC module isn't similar to catalyst switches. For incoming,
tagged packets, the Cisco EtherSwitch module honors the CoS value; the
packets are buffered in a high-priority queue for CoS values 4 to 7 and
scheduled for expedited forwarding. The low-priority queue is used for
packets with CoS values 0 to 3.

Untagged frames will use the default CoS value configured per-port.

Regarding SRR configuration, HWIC support SRR with default settings, i.e.
you can't tune it. This is the reason of not recognizing any command for SRR
configuration.

Hope its clarified now.

Regards,

Mohd Baqari

Subject: Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] QoS for HWIC module

Does it trust CoS or DSCP?

Well, basically, I guess what does it trust, it trust just like the Router
is trusting anything and relaying any QoS markings, am I right?

But as for SRR, HWIC module interfaces does not undertand the command
srr-queue or anything that begins with srr key word.

In HWIC trust is the default state. Also. srr can be configured.

 Hello,

We can configur the L2 QoS on 3750 switch using SRR, Port based Trusts and
etc.

But what about the 4 port HWIC module? What kind of QoS must be done for
that?

I have tryed but the HWIC ports does not undertand the mls qos command.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Presence Deskphone

2011-12-06 Thread Priyank Kiran
Hey guys,

I am on the proctorlabs rack and kinda stuck and brainfreezed. I use
hardware VPN and downloaded installed CUPC 7.0.1 on my laptop. I am able
to login to CUPC however I can't switch presence status (shows OFFLINE) or
go to Deskphone mode.

Softphone and Voicemail appear to be working fine. Should be something
simple that I can't catch - any help / ideas appreciated.

Also, one weird thing with this client version is I have to exit and log
back in anytime I switch desk / soft phone modes.

Thanks.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CCIE Voice Lab Guidance Req !

2011-12-06 Thread Anthony Alba
Suggest you use rack rentals to familiarize yourself with all the hardware and
do a few labs.
Then get some local hardware phones connecting to the pod remotely. You can
then decide whether to do it yourself as it is expensive to put everything
together. The rack rental guide shows all the hw sw needed. Good
luck with your studies.

 Hello Muhammad,

If you are serious about doing that, this is what you need (don't get
 scared)

 - 8 Phones, 7962 or UP
 - 1 2811 with 128MB of Flash, 1 PVDM2-16 or more, 1 VWIC-2MFT-T1/E1, 1
 HWIC-4ESW
 - 1 2811 with 128MB of Flash, 1 PVDM2-16 or more, 1 VWIC-2MFT-T1/E1, 1
 HWIC-4ESW
 - 1 2811 with 128MB of Flash, 1 PVDM2-16 or more, 1 VWIC-2MFT-T1/E1,
 - 2 2851 with 128MB of Flash, 1 PVDM2-64 or more, 3 VWIC-2MFT-T1/E1
 - 1 3750 switch (3560 will do)
 - NM-CUE or AIM-CUE (I personally have a NM-CUE, I think it is better than
 AIM)
 - 1 server with enough processing power and enough ram. (mine is a xeon
quad core with 8GB of RAM, when I put everything to run, it gets a little
slow, but still fast enough for labbing...)

 I hope it helps...
