[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Hyphothetical Voice Infrastructure Issue Question

2012-12-13 Thread Michael Davis
Scenario for campus intrasture problem:

Phones are not registering. Phones are obtaining a valid IP address and have
been erased to ensure they are getting a fresh IP address.

Solutions investigated

Verified VLAN's are correct and active
Verified option 150 is correct in the DHCP options
Verified Helper IP address is on was  the voice vlan's when in different subnet
TFTP and DHCP on CM was restarted.
NTP was verified and CM DB replication is normal.

Idea that not checkd: WAN Qos may have been enabled thereby causing phone
registration issues.

Am I on the right track?

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] 5-Lab-Handbook Lab 2 Wan QoS Solution

2012-12-13 Thread Bill Lake
I woiuild most likely just do the 95% even if you don't have to, either way
you have to fix the 56K issue, so why not do it at 95% which is best
practice?

That said, I would imagine that they are just looking for specific numbers
on the site A to site B link and as long as the site A to site C link is
not 56K (which would break CAC/RSVP too) you would be OK but again, there
is not really any extra time to do 95% verse 100%.

Heck if you do it enough, you would have it burned in your memory and not even
have to use the calculator for this.

 Hi all,

In the 5-Lab-Handbook Lab 2 Wan QoS Solution, the link between SA and SB
is shaped to 95% of the PVC speed, but the link between SA and SC is shaped
to 100% of the PVC speed. If best practice is followed, shouldn’t the link
between SA and SC be shaped to 95% of the PVC speed as well?

Can someone please elaborate why the inconsistency? Thanks a lot.

Nic,

Are you using the proctor labs rack? I hit something like this when
using proctor labs. I don't have the interface in front of me but I
believe I had to erase the config on the devices before loading the
configs for the specific lab scenario. If I didn't erase the configs,
the loading option merely merged configurations. Erasing the configs
does a wr erase first and the loading of the lab scenario is good to go.

You can check by doing a sho ver and look at the uptime.

Have you checked to make sure that DHCP snooping is not turned on on

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Hyphothetical Voice Infrastructure Issue Question

2012-12-13 Thread William Bell
Amp and Derek have provided great advice on validating that your infrastructure
is not the issue. It sounds like your phones are getting valid IP.

If you are using auto-reg for your phones in UCM, I would also check the
following:

1. Ensure that your Subscriber has auto-reg enabled and you have valid DNs for
assignment (make sure you have enough for all phones).

2. Ensure that the Subscriber enabled for auto-reg is in a CM group that is
enabled for auto-reg AND that it is first in the priority list.

3. Check your phone settings to ensure that the proper addressing, TFTP
host(s), and CM hosts(s) are present.

If you are still hitting issues, we may need more information on the symptoms
(checking the phone display for any status messages that pop or checking the
status message log from the phone).

HTH.

Hi..

Firstly, are you using CUCM or CME??
Secondly, try using a Static IP on the IP Phone. (*try using a 79XX ip
phone.. it is easier to know wat is happening*).
Thirdly, try registering a phone with static IP in the same vlan as that of
the Call Manager
Fourthly, If your using CME, make sure the source-address comand is correct
under the telephony-service commands.
Fifthly, if your using a CUCM, delete the DHCP scope and recreate them and
try

Hope one of these works.. :)

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Hyphothetical Voice Infrastructure Issue Question

2012-12-13 Thread George Goglidze
Hi,

Apart from checking the network infrastructure configuration. what other
troubleshooting has been done?
Have you verified the phone actually gets correct voice vlan? does it
receive IP Address in the correct pool? does it get the TFTP server?
Check the settings on the phone.

If the phones does receive the correct information. then maybe the phone
has previously been registered to other cluster min v8.0 ?
starting v8.0 they have security by default. which means the phone
downloads the ITL file, and checks the TFTP server signature in every
configuration file downloaded to match one in ITL file.
You can erase the ITL file through configuration.

Regards,

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Blueprint Change

2012-12-13 Thread Mark Holloway
You should not concern yourself with the blue print change at this point. Focus
on passing the current blue print and you will make it happen. If the blue
print changes, you have 6 months to continue studying, but even when Cisco
starts testing the new blue print it's going to take some time for IPExpert
(and others) to get their new study material completed to match the new blue
print. You're only going to make it harder on yourself if you hold your breath
for the next blue print.
