If SPG buffer is what I think it is, that means you have a significant
concentration of inorganic phosphate, which forms salt crystals when
mixed with divalent metal ions.

Even so, it should run somewhat differently, and probably visibly on
SDS-PAGE. Even a single phosphorylation changes mobility, and I think I
remember having seen intramolecular disulfides change mobility (anyone else
have experience on this?)

You should be able to download PDB files without any problems.
