I have a BA11-M box with a backplane that I am sure has been upgraded to
be 22 bit addressing.
When I got this box it had an 11/23 Dual width Cpu, MXV11-AC with custom
boot ROMs and a 256KB MSV11-P memory board. The memory in the MXV11 had
been disabled so I suspect the backplane was
There is a CPU board for sale on ebay, M8189, and it has the usual 3
chips CPU, MMU, FPU. However, there are 2 extra chips and I've never
seen that before.
Anyone know what this is?

I have a couple of vaxes that output 'unique' video, Alpha 3000 300,
Alpha 3000 400, Vax 4000 VLC, and Vax Station 3100 M76.
The Alpha and VLC each have a 3W3 type of connector and the 3100 has a
15 pin DEC designed connector.
What does it take to connect these to inexpensive, modern VGA

I have a couple of LK401 keyboards and they generate a 'keyboard error -
4' error on power up test when attached to a VT420. The problem seems
to be one or more keys that are 'stuck on'.
When the keyboard is turned upside down and shaken I can get the self
test to pass.

I would like to have a couple more DEC Mice for some Vaxestations I
have, but they seem to be pretty rare. At present I only have one mouse
and I move it from machine to machine.
The protocols for the DEC mice and the standard PS/2 mice don't seem to
be that much different.

Is there a potential problem here?
I have an 11/53 microPDP11 with a RQZX1 controller connected to a single
DEC DSP3043 drive (535MB) and a single RX33 floppy.
The autoconfigure setup in the RQZX1 puts the hard disk at DU0 and the
Floppy as DU1. OK. I boot RT11 from the disk, V5.7. Works

I can't believe you 'just carry it into the house' all by yourself,
unless you are professional athlete.
I also have a MicroVax II in the BA123 world box and it has wheels for a
reason! The damn thing weighs 130 lbs!
I took it to the VCF East last year, never do that again. Too heavy.
When I
downloaded the installer my Norton
Antivirus found a Trojan in it, so I passed.

The alphaserver 1000a I have has a storageworks array.
The disk carriers are green in color, I see storageworks disks for sale
on ebay that are blue. What is the difference? Are they interchangeable?
Is it possible (or even wise) to open one of the green carriers and
change the disk out?
too, or just the jbod?

I haven't been in the San Francisco area in about 30 years.
I remember a number of used computer/electronics stores back then, can't
remember any names except Weird Stuff Warehouse.
Are there any stores that are worth a visit?
What about outside of the SF area?
