Also, go to google code and checkout litepost. Example blog app showing
a best practice layout for your Model, and how that can translate into
any framework if thought out properly. The example works in Model-Glue,
MachII, and Fusebox 5. Nicely done, though very little in the way of
I did a preso for the Nashville CFUG last October. Intro material, and
not overly outdated.

There are also a few examples apps out there that you can dig into
I used the gallery app that Ray Camden had posted on his blog as practice...
I found that it was helpful to dig into a couple of apps like that after I
had read some docs and done the examples.
And I'm still really learning..

Well... Big question.
The coolest change since the 4.x days is the introduction of the
Developer Edition of CF. You can now download the trial edition from
the Adobe site and install it on your personal workstation at home and
the license never expires. So you can play with it all you want this
You can download CF8 and if you want to, Dreamweaver CS3 and install them on
your computer. They have tutorials that come with CF8. You can also go to
the bookstore and get CFWACK (ColdFusion Web Application Construction Kit)
to get started. There are also tutorials on-line. Just Google ColdFusion
Try www.lynda.com
They have online training and free access to some of the CF8 content.

Mark - I would head to the bookstore ASAP and get a copy of ColdFusion Web
Application Construction Kit by Ben Forta, also known as CFWACK. This will
not only help you
You can also check out the CF tutorials at Lynda.com.

that's on livedocs:

I'd focus on the sections on user defined functions, cold fusion components
Ah,
What happened to safari giving 14 days to check their service. Now it's 10
days and 50 pageviews. Well Mark, it's off to the book store for you then,
you will most likely not find coldfusion books in libraries as well. This is
what truly sucks and what i would hope adobe can help out with!!!
