There are also a few examples apps out there that you can dig into I used the gallery app that Ray Camden had posted on his blog as practice... I found that it was helpful to dig into a couple of apps like that after I had read some docs and done the examples. And I'm still really learning..

Well... Big question. The coolest change since the 4.x days is the introduction of the Developer Edition of CF. You can now download the trial edition from the Adobe site and install it on your personal workstation at home and the license never expires. So you can play with it all you want this

You can download CF8 and if you want to, Dreamweaver CS3 and install them on your computer. They have tutorials that come with CF8. You can also go to the bookstore and get CFWACK (ColdFusion Web Application Construction Kit) to get started. There are also tutorials on-line. Just Google ColdFusion
