Anyone have any suggestions for where to start looking? Recommendations?
Thanks,

Hi all
Before I get too deep into trying to work with the SMS Gateway (for a
client) I had a few questions that I couldn't find answers to right away:
Is the SMS Gateway available in CF8 Standard, or Enterprise only?
Aside from having the gateway built in, is there anything else to
purchase

It's available, but limited to running a single request at a time. If you're
serious about using it - enough to warrant getting an SMS short code -
you'll probably want Enterprise.

That is correct - the recipient pays. And do they ever as I can

We're trying to setup a CF SMS Gateway to do some 2-way messaging but it
seems like ATT is requiring us to use a short code.
I don't understand why I can't setup a 10 digit phone number and use it
instead of a short code.
Anybody done this before?

Hi All,
I am looking for a CF hosting provider that offers enabling SMS gateway
and is not very expensive. The ideal will be where they give their
customers the ability to configure it. Any leads will be much

Do you hae the SMSC Test Server running (start from the Admin)?
The SMS Gateway needs to bind to an SMSC server that talks SMPP.
The test SMS Phone Client (Java app launched from your ColdFusion start menu)
then talks to the SMSC Test Server as well.
So the order is:
1) Start the SMSC Server

Hello all,
I'm attempting to create a simple SMS gateway example for something I'm
working on. I'm trying to find a carrier that can be used to test this app

But you still need the network's gateway to transmit your messages

Yes, because you need an SMSC setup so your CF server can behave as an
SMS service, like Google's SMS search (46645). Read the docs about it
- it explains

Exactly, SMS messages are paid by the sender. You will need to negotiate a
contract with a provider to send messages to real devices. Just as many of

You need access to an XMPP server (Jive, for example).
