A bit off-topic: this is actually one of several reasons why I started
development of my own music player, which uses a queue instead of a
playlist. And I'm sure there are other music players similar to mine
in this regard.

It is my opinion that users shouldn't let most "modern media players"
force things upon them; they can look around, and there might well be
some other media player that's more to their liking. There *is* a way
around it.

Re: [clementine-player] I just want to play the song.......

2018-03-06 Thread Chip Milligan
I double-clicked on the song nqme in my media library on the left side of
the screen, and it did not start playing...

it all sounds straight forward but something ain't working.just now I
actually got a song to play from clicking on it in my media library (don't
know why it worked this time), and while it was playing, I chose three
other songs to play right after this song, but nothing happens after the
first song is finished...I clicked on one of those songs to play, I get a
message saying *Playlist finished. *What does that mean? I don't want a
playlist, I just want to play a song when I click on it.

2018-03-06 Thread Kody Dagley
Doubled clicked where? In the media library? If the song is already in a
playlist, double clicking on it will play the song. If it is you
double-clicking on the song in the Media Library on the left, it will add
the song to the currently open playlist and immediately start playing it as
well, so not sure what the issue is on your end. (I just tested what I said
above on my Windows and Linux machine and it worked on both as I described)

By default, however, the above is only if a song *is not already playing*.
If a song is currently playing and you double click on a new song *in the
playlist*, *that* song will start playing. But if you double-click on a new
song in the *Media Library* while a different song is currently playing,
the song you double-clicked on will be appended to the end of the current
playlist and the current song will continue to play.

*All of the above being said, look in the Clementine settings under
Behavioryou can tailor exactly what you are talking about there in the
suitably named 'Double Clicking A Song Will...' (referring to the Media
Library), directly above 'Double Clicking A Song In The Playlist Will...' -
I assume you want 'Double Clicking A Song Will...' set to 'Always Start
Playing'...*

[clementine-player] I just want to play the song.......

2018-03-06 Thread Chip Milligan
I double click on a song, it shows up in the main window but does not play.
Clementine seems to be all about playlists. What if not all of my songs are
in a playlist, and I choose a song from my library to play? I don't want to
create, append, add to any playlist. I just want to play the song.

I checked Google Search first, before I get yelled at. Could not find my
answer.
