For what it's worth, I use non synthetics oils and I wouldn’t think of not
change the filter with each oil change. When I installed the new engine in my
40 two years ago I asked the mechanic about using synthetic oil and was told
absolutely not! For the reasons already explained here.
Andy
And
I’d stick with what the manual says. Oil is one of the most important things
for keeping your engine running a long time. It's not worth it to bend the
rules.

Dave, here’s an article with pic I wrote for Cruising world. I only get the

Hi Gerry, I sold my C&C nearly two years ago but I’m still getting great value
from the list!

Sitting happily at the anchorage at Cuttyhunk when a 39 named Shannon Rose came
in and spoiled my evening by anchoring right next to me. Now everyone looks at
their boat and not mine!

PS They did improve my view, I love those boats!

I think you are on the right track with your diagnosis. I’ve found that with a
feathering prop if you start sailing faster than the prop is driving the boat
you can get a vibration. I assume this is because the prop partly feathers.

Don’t be intimidated! None of that stuff is particularly technical. I recommend
you start out doing what you know you can and move on from there. The tach
wiring would be most likely to throw me for a loop, but that lies within your
area.
The next is the exhaust hose, which probably falls squar

Make sure if you go with LEDs that you get "warm white" bulbs. The quality of
light is excellent!

I run Navionics and iNavX on my iPad. Not sure what generation iPad it is but
it has the new charger port.
I like both for different applications. I feel like iNavX is more precise...or
clear. But I like Navionics because I don’t have to shift to different charts
all the time for route planning
Wait a sec. my mistake, with the 4JH I burn a gallon an hour and with the 3 on

Interesting...curious to know what rpm you're running at to be burning a gallon
an hour. I run my 75 hp Yanmar 4JH turbo at about 2200-2400 and seem to get
around .75 an hour on the 47 footer.

I'm on the same page as Fred. I just reeve the second and third reefs. Our
boats are so easily-driven we don't lose much by going straight to two
reefs, if we're not racing.

In those conditions, you should be good with just a small jib and no main.
That's a lot of breeze. I bet you were kind of lonely out there!

Last year I installed new B&Gs on Masquerade and I have to say I am
delighted with them. They seem much more sailor-oriented than the Raymarine
instruments I had on Peregine. There are a few functions I use all the
time, like the graphing function on the wind speed and direction that
