Fred: My 3GMF (20hp) does the same thing. When I first start it I give it full throttle, and it starts fine. After a race, it starts fine with no advanced throttle. I just assume the fuel is flowing back in the line, and it's taking a while to get to the engine. Some day I'll tighten all the

All I went through all of these 3GM30 engine issues for the last 3 years. Finally came to my senses and in October I replaced the old tired 3GM30F with a new 3YM30AGE. The difference is extraordinary & I only wish that I had replaced the 3GM30 3 years ago. Best regards, Jack Fitzgerald HONEY -

For years I had a problem where the starting circuit wouldn't always make contact. You could tell because the low oil pressure alarm wouldn't come on. I had thought I'd narrowed it down to the harness at the engine since I could wiggle it to get the engine started. It finally got bad enough

John, Somewhere out there is a wiring diagram for adding a second solenoid to a Yanmar. It's a common problem. I tried googling it, but I could not find it straight away, don't have lots of time this AM but it IS out there. This is a good thread for a possible fix:
