Me, too. I was nervous about that skyscraper mast of yours. A lot of wind
resistance. Glad the sailboats all fared okay.

Hi Chuck,
You make a lot of valid points, and raise some good questions.
On the cause, I’ll report back once the insurance folks have had a review,
though I have my suspicions.
Repair is my best option if the insurance will cover it. Tenacious was an
excellent specimen, in my opinion, and I’d
Hi Chuck,
I love the name of your boat, Tenacious.
Anything is repairable, it's just a matter of cost and time. Anything can be
made strong and waterproof too. With today's materials, you can actually make
it stronger and lighter. Think carbon fiber. But will you ever get that repair
money
Hi Michael,
Brunell boatstands are what I find in my area. They have several great videos
on Youtube of how to set them up properly. One person can properly set them or
later move them if he follows their guidelines. Check out their video below.

Thanks for the note, Andy. I'll anxiously wait for the wheels to get in
motion. The pain of seeing my boat nose down in the gravel is hard, having
to wait for an action plan just adds to it.

I would be interested in some opinions on the use of stands. I am on the Launch
& Haulout
team at the club I am at, chair for a few years. We have required cradles for
sailboats and
have accepted stands for power boats by exception only.

The insurance company will assign a surveyor to assess the damage. Try to be
there when he is and go through everything with him. Talk to your agent. Feel
free to pester him with questions and help moving things along. And then for
dog's sake do not allow that yard to do any work on your boat!
Reaching out to Rob Ball with this one... or maybe anyone who has dealt
with this kind of damage...
It was my 41 that took a nose dive into the gravel yard this week.
Two biggest areas of concern prior to her being righted and ready for a
full inspection are a stand that punctured the hull and
My boat, C'Est La Vie, is in a slip on a marina that is in a drowned ravine on
the reservoir. It has an East/West axis. Last December, a rare easterly storm
threw high winds and waves down the length of it. Many of us had our dock lines
frayed to pieces in the tossing about. A boat just down
We had four large powerboats fall off jack stands in Erie. The cradles all
fared okay.

One of our brethren, Double Black, a C & C 40, owned by Adam Marks, was tumbled
upon in the hard and fell over. High winds, flapping canvas and un-stepped
masts all contributed to the 3 boat domino effect. Oddly enough the first
boat was also a C 37/40 I believe.
