This info is great. We measured the head compartment and the airhead unit would
fit. Just. Our biggest concerns are where to locate the vent and how to deal
with the 24/7 need for electricity. How did you guys deal with these issues?

I have mold allergies. So, I use this 30 pt. Dehumidifier (link below) along
with an oil radiator type heater set at ~50 f. I got a humidity/temp gauge
that retains the average and she maintains 35-40 percent humidity throughout
our wet winters.
I have 3 of the 4" Marinco day/night vents installed on Imzadi, and will
probably install a 4th one the next time that West Marine has them on sale
for $99. One of the vents is in the hatch over the table in the main cabin,
the other two replaced the dorade boxes and cowl vents over the head and

A C Hull Identification Number (HIN - the one on the transom), starts
with a ZCC (or a different three letter code on older boats, I don't
remember the code).
The next two digits are the model (usually the length), the next three
digits are the hull number in that model series, the next digits

Hi Bill,
We moved here recently for many of the reasons you mentioned -- ocean,
mountains, good sailing destinations, international airport, hospital,
(relative) affordability. Loving it so far. Moorage is difficult to come
by. I'll drop you a direct email with more details.

I have an Evadry dehumidifier that has run more or less constantly for three
years and it’s still going. It takes about 1/2 liter per week out of the air. I
need to run small heaters in the winter to prevent the dehumidifier from
freezing. One of my better purchases

I used an airhead on my Vega many years ago. Definitely not cheap and it was
huge, a bit unsightly as it was placed in a tight space, but no odor, I picked
up a ton of storage when the tank was removed. The newer models are just as
expensive but far more compact now that they have discovered

Boat is ventilated ( not dehumified) and bulkheads clean but we get this light

prevent regrowth or is that the TSP bleach water solution to clean same.

Chuck, that's great; I would suggest an alternate phraseology: you are
continually upgrading and improving your "son's inheritance"! I also enjoy
these stories; since I am out in the proverbial hinterlands of sailing, it is
great to hear that families continue to enjoy their boats. Thanks

Two quick thoughts. Anchor lockers and their rode pick up a lot of stuff and
can smell. Anchor lockers have been known to flood in a seaway. The vent
between cabin and locker may allow fumes and water into cabin.

This topic is fascinating from two perspectives for me: First, how loyal
and long-term the owners seem to be, and second, the stories about the
boats and families who own them!
