Bookended my work day with stops at two Sterling parks. Really good
fallout after torrential rain. In morning Overland Park, catbirds and
Swainson's Thrush everywhere. Later in the afternoon at Pioneer Park
added a nesting pair of Cooper's Hawks, and came around a corner face
to face with another
I stopped at Lamar Woods this morning before leaving to return home but the
winds were strong and gusty and if anything was singing they would need a
megaphone to be heard. The only migrating birds I saw in a quick look were
many Swainson Thrushes.
I also stopped by Temple Grove at the Ft Lyon
I forgot to mention that Last Chance is in Washington County[ at the
intersection of highway 36 and highway 71]

Boulder County, right now, in the 3am hour on Thursday, May 26th. I can hear
them through the office window. When I stepped outside earlier, I heard ~20
Swainson's Thrush flight calls in just 6 or 7

Hi COBirders,
To follow-up on Arvind's post - we, too, have Evening Grosbeaks in pairs,
hanging around for over a week. I have only recorded them in my yard here, N of
Garden of the Gods park, three times in 20 years - all winter - so this is new.
There are at least 4 birds, 2M, 2F that visit

SCARLET TANAGER - 1
I had a pair of Black-headed Grosbeaks and a pair of Western Tanagers
in the yard yesterday. Nice to add some color to the throngs of House
Finches and Sparrows. Also had one Collared Dove among 5 Mourning
Doves. I was eager to see how that would turn out , dominance-wise.
The Collared seemed

With Yellow Warblers and Catbirds in double digits for the first day, there is
finally some hope that our summer residents will come in reasonable numbers.
Yellows and House Wrens so far are well below the numbers we've had in the last
couple of years. Had another good day for late May
This afternoon I watched a female tanager that looked pretty good for a
scarlet. It was the same size and shape of the Western tanagers that
have been dripping from the trees the last couple of days, but it was
plain yellowish green all over, without wingbars, quite unlike the
Westerns. I
