Yesterday the Arkansas Valley Audubon Society co-sponsored a field trip to
the Canon City Riverwalk with Leon Bright and I co-leading with Steve Olson
and Ron Torretta from the Forest Service. The Red-headed Woodpecker was
refound and viewed by the 7 adults and 2 children participating. Steve

There was a singing male *GRACE'S WARBLER *at Pueblo Mountain Park today,
5/7. It was hanging out near the Environmental Center for more than 30
minutes, and may be on territory. Also near the Environmental Center I had
an *ACORN WOODPECKER*, *2 Band*-*tailed Pigeons*, all 3 of our

Black Swift: A noon squall in the Broadmoor neighborhood pushed tens of
swallows, 2 White-tailed Swifts, and 1 Black Swift down to circle/feed on a
lake (Stratton Reservoir, I think). The lake 1.5 km east of the Broadmoor at

A Yellow-throated Vireo was at Pastorius reservoir this morning. Found by Ryan
Votta at 11 am, 5 birders got to watch it feed in a small tree beside the
bridge over the inlet canal before it flew to the cottonwoods along the
shoreline to the N of the canal. Ryan re-found the vireo about 20
Bill Maynard and I found a scissor-tailed flycatcher at Chico Basin Ranch (fee
area), El Paso county. The bird was seen for 30 seconds as it flew over the
road and continued southeast. Lovely bird.

There was a breeding plumaged Dunlin at Crom Lake as of 1150 this morning
5/7. Along with all three species of teal and Avocets, there were at least
4 Semi-palmated Sandpipers, a Greater Yellowlegs, and a Willet all hanging

This morning, while walking my dog at Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve, I had
a brief encounter with a *Red-headed Woodpecker*. The bird, which was high
in a tree along the High Line Canal on the eastern side of the preserve,
didn't seem to want to stick around, flying into the surrounding

(Denver Co) on May 6. A male was on the western side of the Gardens. An
apparent second poorwill was near the Japanese Tea House. According to a
