Had a flyover Lewis's woodpecker at Cheyenne Mountain SP this afternoon. I was
about a hundred yards west on the Zook Loop. It looked like it landed in some
of the Gamble oaks near the parking lot, but I wasn't able to find it. Haven't

Another amazing migration day in my backyard. Had three new yard birds again
today: Bullock's oriole, black-headed grosbeak, and white-crowned sparrow.

I have lived at this house in the middle of Colorado Springs for almost nine
years and have only seen one warbler here in the past: a yellow-rumped warbler.
Today I had orange crowned, Virginia's, MacGillivray's and yellow-rumped.
Nice surprise and upped my yardbird count by three.

Followed up Brandon, Kara and Lisa at Hasty. Found the summer tanagers and
plumbeous vireo. Also had northern parula and western tanager. It seemed like
birds were constantly arriving and leaving. I stayed for two hours and things
just seemed to keep turning over.

On my way back from Chico Basin Ranch this morning, where there was nothing too
exciting to report, there were three long-billed curlews in the flooded field
along Hanover Road that is about 2 miles from the intersection of Old Pueblo
Road and Hanover Road. Not the numbers others have been

EASTERN PHOEBE at Snakeskin parking lot, where there were also 30 SCALED QUAIL.
Two OSPREY were on one of the platforms at the SWA. Saw my first TURKEY
VULTURE of the year near Pueblo City Park. An AMERICAN PIPIT was

Prospect Lake in Colorado Springs. They were found behind the baseball fields
