At 10:10 this morning I discovered a Black Phoebe on the north side of
Rigden Reservoir which is at the east terminus of Horsetooth Road. The bird
was foraging along a fenceline that borders the railroad tracks, flying
from fencepost to fencepost and also sitting on the fence itself. It was

power poles just west of Taft Hill Road. It stayed there long enough for me
to get my scope out and on the bird. I watched it for 3-4 minutes, calling

The Upland Sandpiper, originally found by Jay Breidt, continues along
Larimer County Road 5. It was seen on the east side of the road
approximately 100 yards north of the first cattle guard just north of the

Third time is the charm. I observed the Carolina Wren in Loveland from the
alley between 6th and 7th, *west of Adams*. It was in the back yard of the
second house west of Adams on the south side of the alley (second house
along 6th), a yellow house. There are feeders in the back yard and the

limited. I use the RBA *every day* to see what has been seen and to plan

a Winter Wren. It was towards the southeast corner. The Wren was about 50
feet south of a sign that is titled "Wanted, Habitat - Dead or Alive". It
foraged along the dry bank just to the east of the trail.

This morning there were four Pectoral Sandpipers at Timnath Reservoir. They
were spread out in the wet areas and standing water on the north side (away
from the lake shore). There were also about 5-6 smaller peeps seen flying
with a group of Killdeer. The very small size suggests possibly Least

peeps. The group was on the East shore of Timnath Reservoir, south of the
entrance to the East bay. There is the domestic-looking mallard/Muscovy
duck on the same shore.

There were at least 16 Forster's Terns on the north shore of Timnath
Reservoir, 9 in one compact group. There may have been another one or two
flying. While looking at the terns, one would flash in scope view being
chased by a gull trying to steal the minnow that it had caught. I could not

This morning at Timnath Reservoir, there were three Caspian Terns on the
sand spit and four smaller Forster-type terns on a grassy spit towards the
north end. The usual suspects of Pelicans, Cormorants, Gulls (mostly
Ring-billed with a couple of California mixed in), Western-type Grebes,

especially for those birders outside of Fort Collins. Running Deer Natural
Area is along East Prospect Road in Fort Collins. The parking lot is
off the south side of Prospect Road approximately 2/3 mile west of I-25.

Natural Area for about a minute. It was initially sitting at the edge of a
small patch of open water towards the south end of the front marsh at

It was larger than a nearby California Gull with a much darker back and

I went to Boyd Lake this morning to see if I could pick up the previously
reported Common Terns. There were a small number of birds on the
swim beach shore. I found 3 Common Terns in among 51 Ring-billed
Gulls, 10 Franklin's gulls, 1 Herring Gull, and 2 Snowy Egrets.

Reservoir, also known as Strauss Cabin Lake, east of Fort Collins. For
most of the time, it was frequenting the north and west sides of the

that has been continuing. The contingent of geese (8000-12000)
included 3 Snow geese (all blue phase), 2 Greater White Fronted
Geese, and 2 Ross Geese. Attending the flock were 13 Bald Eagles.
