Overall plumage pattern indicates one of the Myiarchus species of Flycatcher.
Small bill, pale yellow belly, extensive gray chest all point to Ash-throated
Flycatcher, a rarity during fall migration in Jefferson County. There are some
vagrants that are extremely similar and should also be

Cobirders: All winter and spring has been an irruptive time for the RED
CROSSBILL at Genesee Park (I-70, Exit 254, south side of highway 2 miles to
Group Picnic area and Flagpole). Today we witnessed one adult male feeding
one young. Listen for them, and perhaps you will see them in flight
On 3/27 a male *Cassin's Finch* was at my feeders at Ken Caryl Valley. This
was only the second in my yard since they were frequent in winter 2014-15.
Today 3/28 a pair of *Eastern Bluebirds* joined a flock of Mountain

I originally reported a MALE Williamson's Sapsucker on January 27, 2016 at my
home in Genesee at 7500'. This is out-of season, as males start arriving here
March 30 and early April. This male remained from Jan 27-30. It was always in
one Ponderosa Pine at 35', where it drilled 100+ wells. The

Hi CoBirders
I was at Crown Hill Open Space (Jeffco) today around noon and saw an
interesting hawk at the south side parking lot. It had a lighter head with
a dark eyeline, the beak was dark at tip. wings were reddish, but mottled.
Under side was white with red streaks toward rear. legs were
I went up to Red Rocks yesterday afternoon. I didn't know that there was
construction/destruction going on around the Trading Post.
There were the usual Junco's, but they were out front of the Trading Post in
the dirt, so I put half my seed out there. I went around to the east side and
At 1:45 today I was finishing up a bike ride around Chatfield Res and was
riding on the bike path just north of C470 along the South Platte river when I
saw a very large falcon flying directly for the South Platte Reservoir to the
West. It flew from East to West, directly across my path and
March 14 - I had one male Common Redpoll visit my feeders at sunset
today. He stayed for about 15 minutes.

Hi all,
I went up to Conifer with my, alas, non-birding family today (Dec. 26th). It
wasn't very birdy at high elevations, with a raven Mountain Chickadee being
the only species I saw, and a few more usual suspects (crows, magpies, a
Red-tailed Hawk and Steller's Jay) lower down. On
Dear COBIRDERS:
The president of the Colorado Hawking Club was sent an e-mail and several

Of course we've been wondering if the Greater Roadrunner will make it
through this snowstorm. It has not been spotted yet. I searched this

Hi Folks,
Just got out of the chilly breeze this morning.
A stop at RRTP yielded a good list of species, including the Curve-billed

had had the Harris's Sparrow as well, but I failed to relocate it after my

Thanks to all the Co-birders out there! My wife and I saw the Harris'

the first time to list it)!
If it wasn't for so many people posting these rare birds,
COBirders,
Larry Semo just called and he found a probably Tundra Swan at Standley Lake.
The bird was mostly sleeping on the north side of the lake. For directions see
