Met a big group of people watching the PUSA this afternoon, from 12:30 pm
to 1:25 pm. Under a bluebird sky and relatively mild weather, the little
warrior was busy foraging along the bank, at the same place previously seen
and reported. Everyone was very respectful, kept a distance, and enjoyed

Hi Cobirders, My son Bob and his wife Sondra took me Thursday to see the
Purple Sandpiper. I was able to see it well enough thru my Telescope from about
10;25 to 10:55 AMBob and Sondra were able to walk down where others looking
at it at safe distance. It was my 452nd State bird.

Cindy Valentine and I went up to see the bird this afternoon. When we got
there, we easily found it via scope view. No other birders were there when we
arrived.
We viewed the bird from the parking area that the kite boarders were using. By

I walked down the hill and stayed on the north end of the birders lined up.
Great views! When I arrived the Sandpiper was on the south side of the creek. I
watched it swim across the creek toward everyone and continue with it’s
foraging, coming closer and closer to the shore and line of

Thank you for explaining the the bird most likely is, indeed, bothered by
us birders. I was quite surprised at how close people (myself included)
could get to the bird without seemingly bothering it.

up high on the "trail" the first few observers had made right along Highway
9. When I tromped out through the post holes down low to get slightly

Hi all,
I heard today from the compiler of the Summit County Christmas Bird
Count. The count was scheduled last Friday, the day, the Purple
Sandpiper was found, though the count didn't occur that day
unfortunately. The count is now scheduled for early January, which
means the Purple Sandpiper
I’m gonna make a run up there tomorrow, in hopes that the bird will still be
three and have room for 3. I’m leaving from Aurora, then 285 to C470 to I-70.
If anyone wants a lift and can meet me along the way give me a call or text.
Probably head out around 8 am. I don’t want to be on a time
Bird still present around noon. Great find and WOW on finding it in the
first place!

The intent of this message is to point out that the Purple Sandpiper at Lake
Dillon is 2,100 miles from its "normal" wintering grounds on the east coast.
It has the status of MEGA rarity for the state of Colorado. Whether you are
into the listing of birds or simply enjoy watching

Tammy and I made a dash on snowy icy roads from Salida to Frisco this
morning and we were able to get great looks and photos (that I will post
later when we get home) along the edge of the "river". The bird was
successfully feeding when we left the river about 12:15.

circle. The count was scheduled to have occurred that day. Waiting

My brother and I just saw a *Purple Sandpiper* on Dillion Reservoir, CO.
The bird was foraging on the Blue River Arm of the Reservoir about 20 yds
off of hwy 9 along a stretch of rocky shoreline/ice. It was dumping snow
throughout the observation period and is supposed to continue to do
