During the winter, my home in Centennial (just north of University and

they move toward the eastern reservoirs. In the p.m., the come back west,

Hello everyone,
I've been seeing a type of gull fly over SE Fort Collins for a few nights
in a row now. They're heading south, and seem to be eating insects or
something higher up (can't get a good look at them). Does anyone know what
they are? I'm guessing they're migrating south somewhere?
Every day for the last several weeks, about half an hour before sunrise,
about 500 gulls (probably more) have flown over my house from West to East,
very high. And often I see at least 100 flying East to West about half an
hour after sunset. Does anyone have any idea where they're coming from

This morning I was sure I heard gulls calling from high up, somewhere
between me (Sedalia/west Plum Creek) and Devils Head in Douglas County,
seemed to be flying south along the foothills. I used to live in NJ, so I
thought I knew gull noises. Does anyone else hear gulls?

A brief stop at the Cherry Creek SP Marina just before sunset yielded thousands
of gulls. The lighting was low, and I am not great with gull identification,
but I did pick out at least 5 lesser black backed gulls. Also present were
dozens of herring sized gulls, and one immature gull that
Exciting day today on this calm sunny day in the San Luis valley. Spent
some serious time with camera and scope working on gulls at Smith Reservoir

Hey all,
I stopped by Big Johnson Reservoir this evening after 4:00, and was
immediately surprised to see gulls numbering in the thousands, which I

The gulls and bald eagles are still here on Highland Lake, but in lesser
numbers. The gulls are quite active. Each day, I see fewer Bald Eagles from a

Hi everyone,
I wandered back roads today 2/27 looking for ponds with gulls. From

I went looking for Nick's gulls this morning--none were present; Dixie
and his crew were also there. On the way down stopped by Weld

(Ring-billeds, Herrings, Californias, and one Franklin's Gull--
probably more species I'm sure).
This evening (11/19) I watched the gulls come into their roost at Lake
Loveland. I saw 6 species of gulls which involved Ring-billed, California,
Herring, Thayer's (3 adults), Lesser Black-backed (1 adult), and Bonaparte's

The interesting ducks were Barrow's Goldeneye (1 male, 1 female)
A quick stop at Jumbo Res at 10am Friday found a few interesting birds. The

About 1 in 50 of the white geese were the blue form. Of the many gulls a
few were close enough to confidently ID. These included 2
