Hello, Birders.
Here is the recap of the birding trip to the Valmont Reservoir complex, Boulder
County, held yesterday, Saturday, Jan. 9th.
The birding was good, but first a word about the humans. We had 109 people sign
in at the beginning of the outing, and I know of at least 12 others who

Is it know what time[s] of day the El Paso County Snowy Owl was being
seen? The location is closer to Monument than I realized.

Hi all,
Although not rare, the appearance of six Cedar Waxwings in my maple and a
Mtn. Chicadee at one of my feeders today are pleasant additions to my usual
winter species.

I'm here visiting my dad and we have been seeing a Lewis's Woodpecker
daily in Eckert, Co. On a pole near Apple St. and Hwy 65. Also, I
just heard something I didn't recognize in the brush behind his house
along Surface Creek. It sounded like a burry tee-chur Haven't found
it yet. It
We live in Windsor, but only today ventured over to look for the hawk. We
traipsed around in the SWA area and compared notes with a few people in that
area. Luckily, I had worn snow boots. With no luck there, we headed south on
257 and ended up in a parking lot of a business on the East side
Cobirders,
I was one of many birders out at the Poudre River Trail today looking for the
Red-shouldered Hawk. I arrived at noon and the reports were spotty and some
mentioned the bird was no longer on the river, but off in private property.
Eventually, joined by Joe Mammoser, we saw the

At least 30 people saw the El Paso County Snowy Owl today, Sunday, first
spotted this A.M. perched atop a roof by Susan Craig and Dave Elwonger.
The bird spent much of the day in a new and lightly populated
neighborhood with big houses, perched on fence posts and roof tops,
Folks,
The Snowy Owl was seen by several birders and photographers this afternoon. It
appears to be an adult bird, though I am not certain of sex. To see this bird
from a front range city north of Castle Rock, travel to Castle Rock from I-25
and take the 2nd exit which I believe is Wilcox
From 4:35-5:10 pm he was hunting from the power poles along the north
(actually NW) side of Hwy. 24, just across the highway from Scott Rd. turnoff.
Sue from Boulder, you left just 3 minutes too soon... I was just pulling away

Hi Everyone--
Today 1/10 Marcia Marvin and I visited the Grandview Cemetery in Fort
Collins. In an hour of looking, we heard one White-winged Crossbill in
section 8 (south-central) and saw 5 Red Crossbills in section T (northwest
corner). The Red Crossbills were feeding in a spruce with resinous
This morning, I spent 90 minutes in 3 areas around Silverthorne. The first
stop was the Wildernest area where ³highlights² were 7 Pygmy Nuthatches and
a flyover Red Crossbill. Grosbeaks, Nutcrackers and other finches have been
noticeably absent the past couple of weeks. Second stop was in the
