I stopped by Holcim Wetlands around 6 pm tonight on my way back from Pueblo
and found Evergreen birder Scott Dieni already looking for the Least Bittern
family. Scott said he had been there for about an hour and had not seen any
Least Bitterns but was hearing calls that I confirmed were the

Near the north end of the Park we saw a Nothern Goshawk. It lit on a tree
branch facing us about 20 feet away and sat there for about 5 minutes. No
mistaken a Goshawk - very long red tail, verti cal bars on breast , hawk
sized, and bared tail.

Hello all,
During the late morning on Wednesday, there was a small but pleasantly diverse
group of shorebirds at the Plum Creek delta at Chatfield State Park. There were
3 Semipalmated Plovers, about 5 Killdeer, 1 Willet, 1 Least Sandpiper, 3
Western Sandpipers, about 15 Baird's Sandpipers,
Well, maybe we are going to have a migration. Migrants may have outnumbered
summer residents today for the first time, plus it was just a good day - 54
birds banded with about 2/3rds of our nets up and open. (Things are finally
drying out - we should have the full station up by this weekend.)
Several visitors have asked lately on COBIRDS about ptarmigan. We had three
almost walk across our boots today about 100 feet short of the top of Mount
Edwards, which we hiked via the Waldorf Mine/Argentine Pass road. The birds
were on the eastern slopes, and still in summer plumage.

The sub-adult dark-morph Reddish Egret was still present at Adobe Creek
Reservoir on 8/31/11. It may be getting a bit more predictable in
location. Today, it was on the sand spit on the north side of the
channel separating the north and south parts of the lake. By looking

I talked to the home owner that had the albino hummingbird that I posted
about last night and it has not been seen anymore. If it comes back I will
get notified. I have added two more photos that the owner took when it was
at the feeder earlier this week onto my Birds and Nature
