Hi COBirders,
Not much for raptor observations this weekend. Besides the resident Red-tails
(one Juv is being seen regularly scaring the pigeons and swooping through our
backyards), only one migrant was seen, an female American Kestrel,(FOY)
Saturday.

Hi all,
Managed some birding today in the Roaring Fork valley on a glorious warm,
sunny and calm day..
Snowmass ski area (Pitkin Cty)
Rosy-Finches: at least 60 Browncaps and Graycrowns at the feeders at the top
of Sam's Knob.
No sign today of the Pine Marten at the other feeder.

We saw 7 Great Blue Herons at about 2:00pm at the small rookery on
Crane Hollow Drive near Hygiene in Boulder County. Six were building
or sitting on nests in the trees just to the north of the middle pond,
one was off in a tree further east. Surprisingly (to me), there was a

Union Reservoir has very few birds on it, but the Red-necked Grebe reported a
while back by Peter Plage persists. In fact there are so few birds there that
the grebe really stands out.

The GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW continues to hang out near the parking lot at
North Teller Farms off
of Valmont Rd (today Mar 11, 1130AM). Each time I've seen it, it has been
within 10 feet or less of a White-crowned Sparrow.
