Probably not in a purely legal sense. It has recently been made
illegal to text and drive here in Virginia. There is a whopping $20

I'm sorry for the misguidance about Firewire. I thought I had read

was looking for an inexpensive Mac notebook for a friend. The new
MacBooks don't have Firewire but there was a $750 refurb that had it. I

I did google it, there are numerous references to FW being phased out all

Perhaps Apple will go with the cheaper, faster USB 3 spec in it's lower end
macbooks...who knows?

Anyone use either one? I'm looking for good QoS management.
Another version? I don't have the space to put something on a pc, so

ways. If raw speed is what is needed, USB3 or ESATA is superior. I would
go everyday and twice on sunday for an esata drive on my home network over
FW...but there are situations where FW would be best.

True, but USB3 is still vaporware. Or, is there a separate word for an
entire hardware standard that's way overdue?
Anyway, we have no trouble using USB2 external drives. But I sure
would like more bandwidth!

There are two changes that Google hopes will quell the discontent of media

I just went looking for one and came up dry.
Found some motherboards and lots of cables, nothing else.

Buffalo has a drive out now, and as you said mobos abound. The point was
this is not vaporware. The poin't wasn't that you could get a USB 3.0 drive
at walgreens.

Look, nobody's more upset about the delay for usb3 than myself. All
year I've been telling everyone that will listen that we'll be
changing over to usb3 around xmas 2009. But now that's not going to
happen, and from the looks of it we'll be lucky to change over before
