I don not know if the output power levels are expected to change,
but moving from UHF to VHF should

Yes, but what percentage of the time do you end up having to return
electronic purchases made online? All this talk of reception problems,
maybe a need for a special antenna, possibly roof antenna, etc. makes me
think a return may be fairly likely. But maybe there is no real good
alternative, as

This is an ideal example of why web shopping is better. At local stores
the good stuff was always out of stock.

*I'm a bit wary of buying this sort of thing online. What if it doesn't
work out for some reason (reception problems, etc.)? Then you could be
stuck with the hassle and expense of shipping it back. Seems like this is
something that you really can't tell how it will work - no matter what

Avoid this one? Isn't this the one that is recommended by Consumer Reports
and the top vote getter in the CECB forum mentioned in this thread?

I believe that the Insignia box is a "Best Buy" in-house brand. It's
about $50 at Best Buy (maybe only $49.99, but . . . ). Interesting
that it's the "top" rated on the one site. If I'd known that over the

That one is sold under different brands. Some sites (Consumer Reports for
one) will give you some hints about which boxes are really the same with
just a different brand.
*Thanks for posting this. They seem to (overwhelmingly) like the Zenith
Insignia, but where can you get one? Amazon is out, Target and KMart don't
seem to carry it. Are all the good brands now gone? Is this another lesson
in the pitfalls of procrastination?

I got them online. Local stores did not have much to choose from and
whenever I found something worth buying it was out of stock. Online

*Where did you get your RCA brand converter? Guessing it is better to get
at a local store in case there is a problem and a need to return them.

Price does not vary that much and does not seem to relate to
