difference here is I decided to use Avast4 insteada Norton ...I tried this

I dunno. Sounds like you've touched all the right bases. But one
thing's for sure: next time you install the OS, make sure this unit is
the first thing you get functioning *before* you install updates and
other software. And check it periodically as you do so to narrow down
the problem.
