Hi All,
First off thank you all for the incredible insights I've gathered from the
group. I just have a simple question and all feedback would be great! Would
you rather open a space with a lot natural light or have a space with an
innovative design but would rely on artificial light? Thank you
I suppose that depends on what you mean by an innovative design?
Personally, I wouldn't trade natural light for anything. Lighting has a HUGE
impact on people's moods, productivity, energy levels…and there's not really a
substitute for natural light.

I'm afraid that no matter innovative the design you will still feel like
you were living in a cave. I'll take natural light everytime.

On the same note, I was visiting some nearby offices yesterday and they were
admittedly…not innovative. So much so that the person touring me kept
apologizing, comparing them to Indy Hall. :)
While the offices certainly had that corporate aesthetic design that I
personally don't care for, the

The best is double-pane glass, and the cheapest is a window film to reduce

Try higher Kelvin (4500K) lights (usually fluorescent type T5 or T8's) for a
cooler, bluer light, vs. the dimmer 3500K yellow-ish tint.

Thank you all for the feedback! Basically what we have now is the option to
go into a 12000 SqFt space with a lot of beautiful windows or take a space
in the interior of the building w are considering that has no windows but
would have a glass wall looking out into an atrium of sorts.

We're thinking of backing it for Uncubed, would be great to provide a way for
guests to find members without that deer in headlights wandering that is
sometimes required.
Thought i'd pass it on.

I'm going to provide a dissenting opinion on this, but not to say I would avoid
windows altogether: windows can be distracting (outside noises like fire
trucks, buses, trucks, etc. can spill in much easier) and focus people to look
out, vs. within the office where the community is. Windows
That is a great idea. I was looking for something very simular when the
iPad first came about. Alas, the solution before me. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah we've been noodling on options for just such a set up since opening, and
haven't found anything we loved or taken the time to build. I'm not sure what I
think about their pricing, a bit spendy at $99/month. but if you back the
project you get it for 1/2 off forever so..
Still debating.
Jerome,
I find a windowless environment pretty oppressive. Yes, street noise spills
in. We are on the ground floor, and so passers-by are always peering in
wondering what is going in our space. But those distractions are minor
compared to the closed-in feeling I have when I can't see outside.
my husband would, and probably will if he sees this, agree with
Jerome. We've had the discussion. I'm not distracted by the normal
flow of traffic on the street, but rather the people who use our
parking lot as a turnaround. My hope is that as we fill up our parking
lot with member cars it will
This is a great app. We have demoed it at Scrib and plan to use it soon. I

I agree with most of the posts on here. I went from working in an office
