Hi All,
I was surprised to hear there isn't a link to membership agreements on
the wiki since this topic--along with requests for member rules,
business plans, and other professional business documents--has come up
repeatedly off an on over the years. There is a page for business
plans, but
I looked in a wiki though I might have missed it.
Are there any sample membership agreements out there? Now that we're
ready
to take on members, and have people asking for agreements, guess it's
time
to get that done, LOL
The wiki used to have about a half dozen agreements. I

I’m sure many of us who haven’t started our coworking space yet, or are in the
early stages, would love to learn from those spaces who have sadly run their
course.
What lessons did you have to learn the hard way? What caused your spaces to
fail? What pitfalls can we avoid?
Thank you!

I have just started but learning from mistakes.
My first lessons relate to choice of location, bootstrapping with minimal
investments and partnerships with investors. Early stages yet and have not

This would be a good topic for those attending the Coworking Owners' weekend
retreat in Oct in LA to discuss: how we mentor new coworking facilities; how we
learn from those who sell, close, fail, or otherwise move on.

Hello Wise Co-Working Friends,
It's been way too long since I've participated with this group. Suite133 is
still here and growing. We may be neglecting our coworking community duties,
website, and self-promotion, but we are still here.
Here's my question for you. Have any of you had companies
We first see if they've listed themselves at our address on Google Places, then
contact them, then either return to sender or sometimes have them get a

Hmmm, that sounds annoying. I would contact the companies and ask them
to buy membership to continue to use the physical address. Despite
what the attorney says, I wouldn't want any company using my business

now that's some savvy marketing right there :) There should of course be a

I don't think there should be legal issues if virtual offices are legal,
certainly no problem in London.

Virtual offices are legal - but the services don't fit the core values of
coworking without some weird bending reality.
Our focus is on community workspaces. People who never show up *aren't
community members*.
If they want a service like a virtual office - there's companies that do
that. I
We have had that happen several times...resulting in mail coming to us.

However, a coworker says I should just put them in the circular
How does everybody handle the mail delivery itself? Do you notify people
that they have mail or is it their responsibility to check for new mail when

The latter is our approach - we do basic sorting but that's it.
