FWIW, I used my shell access to poke around the downloads area to find things
in our massive collection of p2 repositories in the download area. sftp worked
just fine for that. Except maybe for the manual 'find' you end up doing to find
things in directory trees.

The +# days thing has never made sense, really. If you really chain

Probably what would be better would be a better way to publicize API changes

I'm working with Greg Watson and the TM, PTP, and CDT teams to come up with a
new target management system based on org.eclipse.remote. All signs point to
that being available for Mars. Coding is underway but I'm just not ready to
commit at this time. Let's see what January brings.

BTW, I am going to take another look at the TM Terminal. Dropping should be
considered on hold at the moment. It might have a place with our o.e.remote
strategy and has some UX features that are actually better than the TCF
Terminal, like multiple views. Again no commitments but I should have a

So what you're saying is that there really is no way that I could know what you

The fact of the matter is that RSE is an architectural nightmare. It has a
history as a remote environment for IBM mainframes which was super overkill for
what we use it for in the Linux and embedded space. Good riddance IMHO.
To that end, I am currently working on removing our dependency on
+1 for dropping GTK3 and staying on 2. I'd like to jump on to JavaFX/SWT as
soon as they fix some bugs in the web view.
Sorry I missed the earlier note on Qt as well. Something I've been thinking
about again as I start working with it more and more in the C++ space.

I guess this raises another question. What about the other way. e(fx)clipse
doesn't get in the way, but does it help either? i.e. With e(fx)clipse on the
release train, would it be possible to have an Eclipse EPP package use JavaFX?
All the magic required to get this actually running really
That's a really good question. It's easier as an external product since we
already redist the Oracle VM and kinda cheat a little to get these jar files
put into the right spot. I'm not sure how that's possible with the Eclipse IP
rules.
And, at the end if the day, these jar files only exist in
I think that should be fine. I think the requirement is to have the release
review completed by RC1. The bits can ship whenever.
For CDT, for example, the SR is our release so we ship when it ships.
