I figured this out ages ago and the fact that you haven't shows you probably
shouldn't run a server. It had to do with the connection and build number of
the server to the steam database on both the public and back end sides.
When a everything matches for clients server and database everything is A okay.
When they don't you get the failure to join issues. This also sits client side
and their ability to access the steam servers. If their access to the steam
servers is ever disrupted the error will occur.
You need to have clients backtrack to the valve cdn to check connection
quality. When they get rerouted it resets everything. Unfortunately this is a
bigger issue in eu with multiple nations for the steam servers.
TLDR. Make sure you maintain a solid routing on all three sides and it will
work.
This has been my solution to the problem. I don't know if it will work for
everyone but it had worked for me in NA.

Out of curiosity, has there ever been any statement from Valve regarding

I'm having the wild guess that this is also related to people not being

Well, if they don't care whether they can play on their favorite servers
or not, then there's nothing that can be done.
Given that the issue is not only server- but friends-lobby based I doubt
they won't have a dejavu when they see that it is actually hosters that
are most affected by this. But if neither party does anything about
this, it will be the end for third-party servers and mods for csgo.
Personally, I'd rather stick to tf2 then.

Re: [Csgo_servers] Problem Unable to join the session. Please try again

2014-09-15 Thread Ejziponken -
The players care. They are frustrated too I've seen it on our forums and on
HLTV, Fragbite etc.
I would love a boycott from everyone hosting a server but there are so many so
even if a large number would shut down their servers, the players would play
somewhere else and the effect would be minimal for Valve and not so small for
the community that lose all the players.
But Valve should wake up and say something because you know its bad when people
starting to talk about boycotts.
If they cant fix the core problem, maybe they can give us something that makes
it better.. Something that reconnects whatever that needs to be reconnected
without kicking or rebooting the servers several times a day. GIVE US ANYTHING.

I'm afraid players don't care, just admins get more and more frustrated.

Wow, I really didn't know but if the following statements are true:

-All(!) servers need to be restarted multiple times a day

-Friends-lobbies are affected

-The issue has apparently been around since forever

-It seems to date back to the first steps of Valve using a lobby system (These
issues have always been there in L4D(2) as well)

-There hasn't been any single statement from Valve regarding this

...then I really hope the csgo hosting community buckles up and decides to
boycott the game for a weekend. I don't know, like every single community
server would just drop every single client on connect and leave a short message
regarding this issue as the disconnect reason. You could add a link of a steam
group where people could be gathered to show the importance and weight of this
and how big the desire is to actually play csgo, a game those people have paid
for to be able to play it without this breaking disturbances every single day.
I guess the time is now, it can only get worse from now on, show them a game is
nothing without its community!

Or, it would be nice if there is some sort CVar to disable the lobby system

This would cause clients to join the old way (as know from hl1 onwards).

Out of curiosity, has there ever been any statement from Valve regarding

this? I didn't know it was nearly that bad. That's just horrible. I've

been looking into ways to create workarounds, but Valve actually closed

down the two possibilities I've come up with by patching them out over

the last few months as far as I could follow the changelogs.

I'm having the wild guess that this is also related to people not being

able to join or open up friends-lobbies until they restart steam

(sometimes even that doesn't work).

Hi all,

The issue with sessions has been becoming a real problem with the growth of
CS:GO user base. We are aware of the issue and are working on changing the core
systems to scale better with the size of CS:GO community. Unfortunately this is
not a quick rewrite, and there isn't an easy workaround that we can offer at
the moment. We'll be sure to include a release note when the update resolving
session issues is ready, but don't have an exact date to announce yet.

2014-09-15 Thread Matthias InstantMuffin Kollek

Hello,

First off all thank you for a response.
Second of all, with the transition to a lobby-only system, could there
be the possibility of a fallback as sort of a quickfix? According to the
changelog sv_allow_lobby_connect_only has been removed in csgo a while
ago, I'm curious as to if this would have actually fixed the issue back
then and if it still could be a viable solution (!)for the time being(!).

http://store.steampowered.com/news/8614/

Different approach:
What about exposing something (may it be an actual server command or
just a function that would exist in the code only and then can be called
using sourcemod) that makes all players reconnect and just registers
another lobby, effectively migrating the players?

Instead of allowing Ido's 1.5 year old quotes to stay relevantSTOP
DEFENDING THEM AND START DEMANDING CHANGE. We are deserving of it. I've
restarted my servers over half a dozen times today alone. Why should
communities be destroyed when we are what kept the Counter-Strike title
relevant until CS:GO? It is unacceptable and no one gives a crap about
Ido's quote from a year and a half ago. There is nothing the community can
do anymore to resolve this issue except start making these threads every
single day and EVERYONE responding to them stating how it is effecting
their communities. EVERY DAY. Please, for the love of god, stop defending
Valve and this situation. At this point we need to keep bitching and
complaining because it's a massive problem that is only getting worse.

I don't know if it will work for
everyone but it had worked for me in NA.

problem have to be very deep inside game engine and it's not possible to
make a simple fix. Maybe with Source 2?
