Tagging and search capabilities in darktable are excellent. In case if
it's not clear, tags can be hierarchical like family|person and you can
search either by family or by person.
While it's not easily apparent, collections in lighttable is very
powerful. It allows you to do searches what
Hi Lorenzo,
now I realise you are on the Windows environment like myself. I will
mention it is possible to download Adobe's Bridge program free of charge
and it might be worth a look. I have Adobe's Lightroom perpetual and
subscription licenses. I do love LR's catalog system and I would

Good evening everyone.
Thank you very much for many answers and for sharing your point of view
that I share.
For sure I'll continue to use an image organizer as a selection base and
I'll configure it (good suggestion) in such a way that it opens directly

Hi Patrick,
thanks for that great suggestion. The tagging module in lighttable

I would consider this one too.
I've imported about 10k at once (and I did it twice for different events

Did not have issues. Once imported

Please, let's not.
I'm not advocate of the 1960s model of 'one process' that was DOS, CICS, CP/M.
I run Linux, perhaps you run Windows or MacOS. Those are all multi-tasking,
multiprocessing operating systems. You can switch

Is there any particular reason you want to import all the 500k images into
the same database? You could have a library for each year, or

Evening,
I submit to you some considerations:
DarkTable originated along the lines of Lightroom but with the purpose of
remaining open source and making improvements over the same software from
Adobe.
Today the 2 softwares are almost alternative to each other.
