I did not intend to argue about whether the chocolate tasted better than the
peanut butter, or vice versa.

I misread the "RTs and github PRs” in your original email as implying that
GitHub would be a valid issue submission route — which, now that I re-read it,
it does not even imply; my apologies. It was early in my TZ and coffee was
still working its magic. I was only trying to helpfully point out what I saw as
an oversight in a process that I assumed had been completed in a hurry.

Thanks. To stay on theme, I guess I’ll close with “Alea iacta est”…

I vastly prefer to use RT for tickets, as it allows unauthenticated
submission: https://twitter.com/ribasushi/status/628169595283750912

Additionally, unlike PR contents and repository itself, issues
conversations are not easy to backup. I will expand later why this is a
problem, but suffice to say - the project is configured as intended.

and update the repo description to indicate it’s no longer a mirror.

Reworded. Didn't want to impart this is the master-mirror ( even though
it temporarily is ), and didn't think of a better wording at the time.

Cheers

Why? rt.cpan.org is better:
1. that's where all the existing bugs are, so to start creating new issues
in a new location is confusing and disruptive,
2. creating an issue on github requires one to register an account there,
which some perl users have clearly stated they do not want to do,
3. it is not possible to move github issues between queues, whereas RT
supports this as a core feature,
4. rt.cpan.org supports linking to rt.perl.org issues and vice versa.

I use github issues when I have to, but when I have a choice, I *always*
choose RT, even for distributions that I author and maintain solely on my
own.

But regardless of what is chosen, absolutely the canonical repository and
bug queue should be indicated in metadata so metacpan can provide the
appropriate links.

Could you please turn on issue submission (it seems to be disabled at the
moment) and update the repo description to indicate it’s no longer a mirror.

(I’m looking at https://github.com/Perl5/DBIx-Class; I assume that’s the GitHub
repository you mean.)

That does seem like a strange GitHub username for the DBIC project, it is so
generic as if to represent the Perl 5 community in general like it were
controlled by The Perl Foundation, but DBIC is the only project there. And yet
following the DBIC on CPAN pod website->downloads link eventually reaches that.
