I think a good first try would be uploading the parted from stable
(1.7.1-5.1) with increased version in the changelog to 1.7.1-5.1+b1,
with armel binaries if possible.
Why can't we just manually re-insert the armel binaries

The current newest upstream version is 2.61, available from:
http://search.cpan.org/dist/Apache-ASP/
The diff is not huge; it includes a fix for #428012, and a license change
(from GPL to the same terms as Perl).

festival had an init.d script in etch but does not in lenny. When using
it with asterisk, it would be helpful to have an init script.

Ok, you can even disregard that email, I found how to replicate this
bug: I have specified in ~/.reportbugrc the option
smtppasswd pwd
and with that set, it works fine; if I remove that option, I can
replicate the bug and I can confirm that preliminary version works.
Thanks for your attention,

The build still works with gcc-4.2.

Hi,
can you split the Build-Depends, Depends and Suggests lines in
debian/control? With splitted lines you can read the control file
easier and diff files are clearer.

Sorry I didn't follow up on this earlier. I discovered the problems I
had were from two places: One I think is a bug in r-base-core and the
other was a problem with my environment.
I first purged all the r-* packages and re-installed them. When I ran

The appended update to the powerpc patch in libatomic-ops makes
the test failure go away and leads to a successful build.
Be warned that I have no idea what it does, I followed blindly
the example given in http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc/2008-03/msg01094.html.
