Bug#582204: [php-maint] Bug#582204: expose_php does more than include X-Powered-By header.
Hi Simon, On Thu, February 14, 2013 00:28, Simon Waters wrote: The toggle has two values. On - default Inserts X-Powered-By header with PHP version. Causes phpcredits page, PHP and ZEND LOGOs to be displayed in unexpected fashion where people's webpages would be expected. Can you clarify this? Exactly when do you get those logo's instead of people's webpages? Anyone wishing to obtain compliance to credit card industry standards must disable it. Yes, this is true. I don't agree with them, but indeed Debian needs to consider what's easiest for their users: as you said, no one will be hurt when it's turned off or would turn it on, while a significant number of people want to turn it off. It seems that turning it off will be the default that minimizes effort across the board with no real cost. I think it's desirable that a Debian system is PCI compliant 'out of the box' - as long as there are no significant drawbacks in those choices. Unfortunately current PCI testing leaves a lot to be desired. Leaving it on creates work for users, who often have to or wish to disable it, produces unexpected behaviour, and consumes more bandwidth. PHP5.5 will remove the display of phpcredits, and logos, but retains the X-Powered-By header, and so will still require disabling of this feature on most serious deployments, but upstream presumably thought the display of credits and logos an issue enough to remove it from the code base entirely. My brief inspection of the 5.5a4 code suggests this parameter will just toggle the X-Powered-By header in 5.5 and later. In any case, due to the freeze, we're only able to change this for the release after wheezy, jessie, which will have PHP 5.5. So the images part is probably moot anyway. All in all, I agree we should turn the option off in jessie. Cheers, Thijs -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Simon, wouldn't it be better to talk to upstream to change the php.ini-production (not -development) with the same arguments you have used here? Control: severity -1 wishlist You neglected to send the patch to the BTS, so I am forwarding it now. I will consider it before the next release, so you will have some time to work on the issues, and perhaps discover a way to conveniently achieve your goal without such a hack. Can you investigate and comment on whether something like the following approach is suitable for your use case: $ export CC=i486-linux-gnu-gcc $ dpkg-buildpackage -ti486-linux-gnu and if it is not, why not, and what makes this patch more appropriate? Would you also comment on the impact this patch will have on interacting with non-Debian build servers. I note that it continues to incorrectly munge cc - gcc. That will definitely not be included. Anyway, it will be at least after Wheezy until I look at this again. Bug#688238: More than just a wishlist
I was about to open a bug as my connman does change the hostname to dhcppc0, and now I see it is a known bug which was solved in connman 1.3. Well, I think this bug is more than just a wishlist one, because I suspect this leads to some related issues. For instance, sometimes /var/log/syslog is just empty, and looking in syslog.1 I see that the file was switched just right after the hostname change. Or even, sometimes I can't run synaptic because it fails reporting it was not able to open the desktop. Package: gnome-shell Version: 3.6.2-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? I was looking for ksnapshot from gnome shell search box. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I typed ksnapshot in the search box. * What was the outcome of this action? I did not get any results. Same for konsole too. So I have to use alt+f2 to run these as commands. * What outcome did you expect instead? I tried this, but it appears to have unintended side effects. For instance I really expect LC_COLLATE=C when using sort or sed. I am similarly accustomed to LC_TIME=C by now. Scripts not expecting non-C locales used to be frequent issues in Debian, but still are for my personal scripts. I also noticed that the pg_createcluster(8) is quite precise on the locale settings used. This is great. Do you think that having the locale preseedable[1] would be a worthwhile feature? I could not find out whether the locale settings are used when installing packages via d-i pkgsel/include string. Agreed, thanks! Metadata updated. Bug#700563: pu: package fglrx-driver/10-9-3squeeze1
Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: pu Hi, I'd like to fix some upgrade issues from lenny w.r.t. to the diversion handling in the non-free fglrx driver packages. #696155 - fglrx-glx-ia32 currently fails to upgrade at all - fglrx-driver fails to clean up an old diversion (but that failure is ignored), which could lead to a missing xorg module * fglrx-glx{,-ia32}.preinst: Create diversions on upgrades, too. * fglrx-driver.preinst: Move removal of old libdri.so diversion to postinst. The fglrx-driver package in lenny shipped the diverted file, so on upgrades from lenny this still exists at the time the preinst is run. * fglrx-glx-ia32.postinst: Remove obsolete diversions in /emul/ia32-linux created by the packages in lenny. The diversion handling (and cleanup of the historic mess) has been greatly overhauled for wheezy (src:glx-alternatives), so there are no fixes that could be directly cherry-picked from wheezy's packages. For the versioning I won't add a '+' to ensure the fglrx-source package will continue to work nicely. Package passes install test in squeeze and lenny-squeeze upgrade test. brian m. carlson dixit: I found the problem. Something about debconf does not work well with mksh-static as /bin/sh. Reassigning. Which version? This *might* be #619947 which I’ve not yet fixed in stale due to… reluctance of having to explain everything to the SRM with an unclear outcome (if it were clear that they would accept it, sure, but so…) When running with mksh as /bin/sh it’s really usually necessary to use the latest version. I tried to post the minimum version to the mksh package page, but the site wouldn’t accept my mails (or rather, it accepted them but the info would never show up). If you’re running the version from stale, can you please retry with the one from squeeze-backports? Also, if you think it useful, would you be willing to argue for an upload to squeeze-updates(IIRC) to fix it? Bug#699824: Updated package
I have updated the package on mentors several times. The now topmost version is the best compromise I could find to circumvent the following problem: When the program is started and finds no sql database in its working directory, it produces a database via ~5000 sql queries which takes about 5 minutes. During this procedure the program is stalled. This is unacceptable and while it would be best to optimize the sql queries and handle the database creation in a separate thread, I decided for the time being to create a template database and fetch it in the debian folder. This increases the installed size of the program by 500 KB (~10%), which I find acceptable. Package: sponsorship-requests Severity: normal Dear mentors, I am looking for a sponsor for my package burp * Package name: burp Version : 1.3.24-1 Upstream Author : [fill in name and email of upstream] * URL : http://burp.grke.net/ * License : Graham Keeling keel...@spamcop.net Section : utils It builds those binary packages: burp - Simple cross-platform network BackUp and Restore Program burp-dbg - debugging symbols for Burp To access further information about this package, please visit the following URL: http://mentors.debian.net/package/burp Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command: dget -x http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/b/burp/burp_1.3.14-1.dsc More information about hello can be obtained from http://www.example.com. Changes since the last upload: * New upstream release version 1.3.24 * Bug fix for strip_vss/split_vss truncating backups of changed files on Windows. * Bug fix for autoupgrade failing on Windows if autoupgrade_dir has been modified. * Bug fix for listing backups created with split_vss=1. * Bug fix for restoring uncompressed encrypted backups created with split_vss=1. * Bug fix for making backups with min_file_size and split_vss=1. * Bug fix for Debian init do_stop() function from Peter Maloney. * Bug fix for resuming backups where a file to patch has already been hard linked into place. Also get the client to report a more helpful message if any similar problem happens. * Bug fix for signal handler race conditions. * Bug fix for the forkchild child not exiting when execv fails. * Changed the run_script() code to take an array. * Added server_script_pre_notify and server_script_post_notify options. * Rework the test script so that it can test Windows clients. * Attempt a Windows signal handler to try to shut VSS down nicely on certain signals, such as Ctrl-C. * Include an example server side offsite rsync backup script. This is not quite working properly, but it may still be useful. * Big fix to stop Windows going to sleep during a backup, from Avi Rozen. Bug#695581: Please rebuild the package
Hi, I'm not a python programmer. I just use some utilities that are written in python. So, to me debug a problem is not very easy. I have spent a lot of time with a problem in one utility and I didn't understand what happened till I see this bug. After do Michael Janssen propose, my problem was gone. Bug#700568: pu: package poppler/0.12.4-1.2+squeeze1
Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: pu Hi, I would like to upload a squeeze update for poppler, fixing three CVEs (which were deemed minor, hence with no dsa), and a crasher bug and a memory handling issue recently fixed in unstable (and wheezy). The changes are: * fix CVE-2010-0206: - patch straight from upstream * fix CVE-2010-0207: - patch from upstream adapted to be API-/ABI-compatible, even though the functions were private * fix CVE-2010-4653 - patch from upstream adapted to include Object.h instead of goo/GooLikely.h (non-existent in poppler 0.12.x) - fix GooString::insert (#693817) - backport the fix - fix two uninitialized vars in PSOutputDev (#699421) - backport the fix I also added myself as uploader, as I did many months ago. Let me know whether the proposed change seem okay, and I can upload to stable. Bug#700570: www.debian.org: people page shouldn't link qa page for missing emails
Package: www.debian.org Severity: minor Tags: patch Hi. In the devel/people page, there are entries for developers who are listed in the LDAP as having a homepage even though they don't maintain packages. This could be OK, even though I'm not sure of the intent... maybe to acknowledge non-packaging members... but anyway, that's not the issue. The issue is that the script manages them by not setting an email, in which case, the qa links are incorrect. Here's a patch that fixes this. IMHO, it would be better, to list them with their email, and flag them in another way, so that no package list is processed. Hope this helps. Hello Ben, This is not memory, it's MMIO (memory-mapped input/output) for the emulated VGA card. The kernel controls the addresses used for MMIO for PCI devices, but does not control the addresses used for RAM. Apparently the system firmware (or in this case the hypervisor) can provide hints through ACPI about what addresses it should use, to avoid conflicting with hot-added RAM. But the kernel version in squeeze ignores those hints. Does the kernel parameter 'pci=use_crs' avoid this? That works fine, thanks! I am attaching a patch with the commit that included your changes in my personal git repo, part as a normal change and part as a new quilt patch. ... long story short, ping me if there's an official package available so that I can test it too, before it enters the distro repos. I have prepared a personal package and put it in my personal Debian repo under http://people.debian.org/~agmartin/debian-store/misc. Changes file is signed with my Debian gpg key, available from the Debian keyring. That repo is reachable through apt line deb http://people.debian.org/~agmartin/debian-store/misc/ ./ and is also signed with my debian gpg key. Note that there is other stuff there (mostly personal backports for other packages). I am currently testing that package in this box and seems to work well in the normal use needed here, so I will soon commit my changes to the wdm collab-maint git repo. In the meantime I am tagging this bug as pending. Thanks a lot for your feedback. Bug#699776: RFS: pycdio/0.18-1 [ITP]
I patched some bugs in the source. lintian4python now only reports one warning, which in my opinion is simply wrong. I forwarded the changes to upstream and they have been accepted. I hope the FTBFS is solved with change of build-deps to python-all-dev. The new package version is topmost at http://mentors.debian.net/package/pycdio The remaining problem is the missing full license text of the GPL3 in the upstream tarball. This problem will be fixed in upcoming upstream releases. For the present package I included a COPYING file in the debian directory. Is that sufficient, do I have to do more or is it imperative that the publicly released upstream tarball includes the full license text? Bug#700287: [neverball] French: Save Replay translated to Sauver un film
I suspected that. Regarding sauver, both enregistrer and sauvegarder are 5 characters longer. However, the screen where the label appears has plenty of room so I don't see a technical problem, although a longer label may be unaesthetic. Agreed. Enregistrer sounds better for me. There's also the possibility of labelling it simply Enregistrer or Conserver, but I doubt new users would understand the meaning. Agreed. Reprise [vidéo] is common in Quebec, but it may not be in France. Oh, that's why your English is far better than mine :) I confirm. I don't remember hearing this word in that sense. It may not be a great term neither - it also has several other senses. This use would be in the sense Action de représenter, de diffuser à nouveau un spectacle, un film, une émission : http://www.larousse.com/en/dictionnaires/francais/reprise/68500 A literal translation of Replay would be Relecture, but this is somewhat misleading - if the replay is a relecture, what was the (initial) lecture? The first view (the one live) is not read, it's just computed. True :) Regarding relecture, it makes me think of the act of reading a text again :-/ As for using replay is French, although I'm sure most would understand, I'd rather keep film than to go with a pure English word. Shino (the other early FR translator) and I had the same opinion. If reprise is uncommon outside Quebec, requesting advice from other communities might be warranted (traduc.org?). Good idea! BTW, are you an official translator of Neverball or will I have to do the translation by myself? :) mym -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#700240: Vulnerability in OpenStack Keystone

I have already uploaded the fix for CVE-2013-0247 in Debian SID, and now I'm trying to understand what CVE-2013-0270 is about. My request about it in the Openstack development list was left without an answer, so I'm asking you directly, with Cc: to the already opened Debian bug. Sorry for the delay in answering, I'm travelling right now so it's a bit difficult to make the research. I have no idea what CVE-2013-0270 is. Bug#692791: #692791 - CVE-2012-5519 - cups lpadmin-to-root privilege escalation - RedHat solution
Hi all, as a matter of completeness, here's Tim Waugh's comment from the upstream tracker [0] on the road taken by Red Hat: Le jeudi, 14 février 2013 15.48:38, Tim Waugh a écrit : FWIW, in Red Hat Enterprise Linux we'll be addressing this differently: all options will still be in cupsd.conf but a new option ConfigurationChangeRestriction will govern checks that are performed on new cupsd.conf files that are received via POST. Default value is all, meaning that all changes to security-sensitive options via POST will be forbidden. Other options are none (prior behaviour) and root-only (only root-authenticated users may make such changes). Now that we have released upstream's invasive fix to all our suites, I'm quite sure it's not worth investigating this alternative idea. What is the best way to get around getting this new version into Debian? Would it be possible to upgrade the current package, or would it have to be a new package? (I'd say that'd be quite inefficient, but I'm new to this :)). If I can help with packaging this version, I would be more than happy to do so, with some assistance and advice when needed. Find the code at: https://github.com/gnif/mod_rpaf/ This bug report was generated on an Ubuntu desktop, but pertains a Debian server. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers quantal-updates APT policy: (500, 'quantal-updates'), (500, 'quantal-security'), (500, 'quantal'), (100, 'quantal-backports') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.5.0-23-generic (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.utf8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash

Bug#700584: devscripts: [nmudiff] Fails to handle some changelog entries
Package: devscripts Version: 2.12.6 Severity: normal Tags: patch Hi, I’ve tried to use nmudiff on a package with a slightly weird previous changelog entry: transmission (2.52-3) unstable; urgency=high (fixes CVE-2012-4037) Apparently this is valid, but nmudiff chokes on the double parenthesis. Since dpkg-parsechangelog includes necessary options to parse previous entries, I’m attaching a simple patch to just remove the manual parsing and use dpkg-parsechangelog instead. -- Package-specific info: --- /etc/devscripts.conf --- --- ~/.devscripts --- DEBDIFF_DIRS=yes DEBDIFF_CONTROLFILES=ALL DEBDIFF_SHOW_MOVED=yes DEBCHANGE_RELEASE_HEURISTIC=changelog DEBCHANGE_FORCE_SAVE_ON_RELEASE=no -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.utf8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages devscripts depends on: ii dpkg-dev 1.16.9 ii libc6 2.13-38 ii perl 5.14.2-17 ii python2.7.3-3 Versions of packages devscripts recommends: ii at3.1.13-2 ii curl 7.28.0-3 ii dctrl-tools 2.22.2 ii debian-keyring2012.11.15 ii dput 0.9.6.3+nmu1 ii equivs2.0.9 ii fakeroot 1.18.4-2 ii gnupg 1.4.12-7 ii libcrypt-ssleay-perl 0.58-1 ii libdistro-info-perl 0.10 ii libjson-perl 2.53-2 ii libparse-debcontrol-perl 2.005-3 ii libsoap-lite-perl 0.714-1 ii liburi-perl 1.60-1 ii libwww-perl 6.04-1 ii lintian 2.5.10.3 ii man-db2.6.3-3 ii patch 2.6.1-3 ii patchutils0.3.2-1.1 ii python-debian 0.1.21+nmu2 ii python-magic 5.11-2 ii sensible-utils0.0.7 ii strace4.5.20-2.3 ii unzip 6.0-8 ii wdiff 1.1.2-1 ii wget 1.14-1 ii xz-utils 5.1.1alpha+20120614-2 Versions of packages devscripts suggests: ii bsd-mailx [mailx]8.1.2-0.2006cvs-1 ii build-essential 11.6 pn cvs-buildpackage none pn devscripts-elnone ii gnuplot 4.6.0-8 pn libauthen-sasl-perl none pn libfile-desktopentry-perlnone pn libnet-smtp-ssl-perl none pn libterm-size-perlnone ii libtimedate-perl 1.2000-1 pn libyaml-syck-perlnone ii mutt 1.5.21-6.2 ii openssh-client [ssh-client] 1:6.0p1-3 ii svn-buildpackage 0.8.5 ii w3m 0.5.3-8 -- no debconf information -- .''`.
