Bug#467375: Sakura for Debian

2010-05-20 Thread Andrew Lee
Hi Norbert,

Sorry for the relay reply.

Norbert Preining wrote:

I'd recommend that we should add a .desktop file for the menu.

Other than that it looks fine.

Yap.

I left the Ubuntu history in the changelog. I'm not sure if that's
 correct. Please let me know.

 I am fine with that.

So now the question is if we can take over the ITP.

Sure. Please feel free to do so. Or if you prefer co-maintain I am also
fine.

Keep the good work,

Bug#582351: libffi-dev: Installs headers into /usr/include/i486-linux-gnu

2010-05-20 Thread Robert Ancell
Package: libffi-dev

Severity: grave
Tags: squeeze
Justification: renders package unusable

Header files are installed in /usr/include/i486-linux-gnu/ (and
similarly named directories on other architectures), not

Bug#474148: Squeeze support

2010-05-20 Thread Alessandro Polverini
I'm trying to make a bootcd with squeeze (kernel 2.6.32) but the created
cd does not boot: it fails with a lot of errors of this kind:

cat : can't open '/proc/scsi/scsi': No such file or directory

and then it stops because it can't find the root fs.

I tried patching various files as indicated by Daniel but it did not
work for me.

Any hints?

Thanks,

Bug#582356: csound: please rebuild against tcl 8.5 in experimental

2010-05-20 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Source: csound
Version: 1:5.12.1~dfsg-2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
User: pkg-tcltk-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: UpgradeDefaultTclTkTo85

Hi Felipe and Jonas,

To suss out possible problems before making the change for real, it
would be nice if most packages depending on tcl-dev were built against
version 8.5 in experimental. As discussed on debian-release[1], this
requires sourceful uploads to introduce versioned build-deps on
tcl-dev, tcl, etc, since experimental buildds are a little fussy
about where they get their build-deps from[2].

Rebuilding csound locally, I did not run into any problems. tclcsound
builds fine against version 8.5, has the correct dependencies, and
examples run okay. I did not test if sound works but it noticed my
sound card. To all appearances, everything is fine --- nice job. :)

Anyway, here is a patch to help others test the change. Once the
updated tcltk-defaults migrates to sid, this change would be useless;
patch is against master but intended for experimental only. If an NMU
would be simpler, please let me know and I can look for a sponsor.

Thoughts?
Jonathan

It seems to me that it is all a matter of setting an
environment/configuration variable to the right value during build.
I'll delve more in the following days.

I finally have a working patch. Standalone patch and debdiff attached.

Steinar, I really think this issue is RC. Loading a Perl module
outside a running apache is quite normal operation. I won't play
ping-pong with the bug severity, but would very much apprecate if you
release a package with this patch applied.

Thanks to all who helped!
Description: fix Apache2::Request linkage with libapreq2
 Test:
perl -MApache2::Request -e1
Without the patch the above fails with:
Can't load '/usr/lib/perl5/auto/APR/Request/Request.so' for

/usr/lib/perl5/auto/APR/Request/Request.so: undefined
symbol: apreq_hook_disable_uploads at
/usr/lib/perl/5.10/DynaLoader.pm line 193.

them to Makefile.in, which is not re-generated during package
 build) of upstream revision 733406

tcl-dev, tcl, etc, since experimental buildds are a little fussy about
where they get their build-deps from[2].

Rebuilding csound locally, I did not run into any problems. tclcsound
builds fine against version 8.5, has the correct dependencies, and
examples run okay. I did not test if sound works but it noticed my
sound card. To all appearances, everything is fine --- nice job. :)

I am a bit confused here:

On one hand you tell us that the change is needed due to the switch
requiring sourceful uploads, and on the other hand you confirm that our
attempts at hardcoding versioned paths have succeeded and in fact your
patch do *not* change anything but build-dependencies.

It seems to me that even if in the general case a sourceful upload is
needed, csound actually only needs a binNMU once Tcl defaults have
changed?

Bug#582272: [Pkg-nagios-devel] Bug#582272: nagios-plugins-basic: ssh_disk quoting in disk.cfg wrong

Hi Paul,

thanks for reporting the problem.

The command_line has some wierd quoting and escaping going on.
This is confirmed by the fact it simply doesn't work, if I try to use it:

Status Information: Usage: check_by_ssh -H host -C command [-fqv]

Just a wild guess, but I think just ssh_disk is broken and ssh_disk_4
works? ssh_disk is missing a '\'.

Bug#582358: Refuses to connect when network-manager installed

2010-05-20 Thread Torsten Landschoff
Package: evolution
Version: 2.30.1.2-2
Severity: normal
Tags: sid

Hi Evolution packagers.

After upgrading my system yesterday, I was unable to read email using
evolution today. Everything related to working online (including the
Work offline menu item) was grayed out.

What's worse, there is no feedback from evolution as to why it would not
allow me to get my new email. After fighting pidgin on a netbook for
hours I guessed the problem is the same thing: Without asking the user
or leaving any loophole, the $%!$ software relies on the indication
of network-manager if the system is online.

However, I did not willingly install network manager on this system. I
wanted to try the current KDE and installing kde pulled network manager
in. Given that I don't want a complex software managing my GBit local
ethernet adapter (ifup works fine, while network-manager has failed me
many times), I went ahead and removed network-manager and anything
related from my system.

After restarting evolution, I can now use it again.

Having to fight the system to tell it that the network is in fact
available feels like the worst days of Windows usage for me. Can we stop
going that user-friendly route?

I am not directly opposed to using network-manager as indication that
the system is offline. However, it should be easy to find out (using a
tooltip on the grayed menu entry, anything that pops up automatically).
I consider refusing to work without any indication as quite childish.

As you can see from the length of the email, this tripped a nerve for
me. I hope you can understand my point and coordinate with upstream to
improve the situation.

Thanks for your work!

Torsten

Bug#562766: gdb does not support 'break exception'

found 562766 6.8-3

thanks

In both 6.8-3 and 7.1-1, I experienced the problem that Stephe reported,
i.e.

(gdb) catch throw
Function __cxa_throw not defined.
Catchpoint 1 (throw)

I believe this all depends on whether the debuggee includes object code
compiled from C++ or not.

I still believe this is a bug in gdb, not gnat; the GDB doc says gdb
supports Ada exceptions.

* Aurelien Jarno (aurel...@aurel32.net) [100519 23:56]:
The problem is that the mkhomedir_helper is built as a library, using a
 version-script. This lead to:

   0x7016 (MIPS_RLD_MAP) 0

Removing --version-script while linking the binary fixes the problem:

   0x7016 (MIPS_RLD_MAP) 0x413a50

I agree that ld.so should not segfault in that case, I'll try to write a
patch for that, but I don't think the bug is still serious anymore on
 the eglibc side.

Right. Cloning the RC-grade part to libpam-modules, and lowering the
severity on eglibc.

Thanks for your support.

Bug#578746: xserver-xorg-core: X server crashes from time to time

2010-05-20 Thread Raphael Frey
Unfortunately it seems that the described workaround with EXANoComposite
did not help because I had some X server crashes again over the last
few days. I will try the other workaround with AccelMethod now and if
this does not work too, I will have to look for a more stable
distribution like e.g. Cent OS (they still use the elder 1.1.1 version
of X server which was included in Debian Etch and which worked

written by a nitpick or anything else.

Thanks for your report. It's a bit concerning that I haven't seen any
other reports of this though.

Have you ever done anything to your mono installation, such as
installing from a source tarball?

Can you please attach the complete output of running the command
`gacutil -l'?

Also, a new version of gtk-sharp2 was uploaded yesterday to unstable.
You could try to upgrade to that and see if this fixes your problem.

Yes, I agree a update is long overdue.
In fact, 1.6.1.2 has been in beta status for years, I don't know why Matthias
just don't release a new version.

Yes in fact I could and should release it now. There had been some
changes after I released it as beta, that made problems at the
beginning. But these should be fixed for some time now. I just forgot
that there is still nothing called release now.

There are some branches and tags related with 1.6, and some movement in trunk,
but since I could not contact Matthias to know the project status,
next releases, etc,
I just keep maintaining the last known stable release.

It would be great if he could release something soon, since Debian is
approaching
its next stable release.

I can review that branch, but it would be really preferable to have a
new upstream
release (the last one was in 2007).

I will have a look at it too. Checking if there is still something that
I have to do before I can release it.

Matthias

FWIW, in the meantime, I also went through the virusmails on my

Bug#577603:

2010-05-20 Thread Luca Niccoli
reassign 577603 acpi-fakekey 0.136-3
thank you

I guess now that acpi_fakekey has its own package, this report should
be assigned to it;
but I mainly wanted to say that I'm hitting this bug as well, on two
different machines (both sid).
If I'm in the console, and run acpi_fakekey 5, a 4 gets actually
printed on the screen.
But if I try from an X terminal, or run sleep 5 acpi_fakekey 5 (and
then immediately switch to X and wait), there are no effects
whatsoever.
After some tries, the event queue gets full and I start seeing
ACPI Virtual Keyboard Device: dropping event due to full queue!
in Xorg log; this never happens if I use acpi_fakekey while using the console.
Trying acpi_fakekey 113 (MUTE) doesn't actually mute the volume
regardless of the context (while using the physical mute key does).
Cheers,

Luca

Please don't use distribution tags unless the bug is actually specific
to that branch (as opposed to the package version).

 Justification: renders package unusable

Header files are installed in /usr/include/i486-linux-gnu/ (and
similarly named directories on other architectures), not
 /usr/include. Stops pygobject from compiling.

and I suspect this is only true on ubuntu maverick because it uses i686
instead of i486 so this isn't in cpp's search path. Not the case in
debian.

Bug#582360: mdadm: sends cron email when there are no arrays enabled

2010-05-20 Thread martin f krafft
forcemerge 580825 582360

also sprach Tollef Fog Heen tfh...@debian.org [2010.05.20.0944 +0200]:
Currently, once in a while, mdadm (in testing at least) sends me mails
 as follows below:

Subject: Cron r...@xx [ -x /usr/share/mdadm/checkarray ] [ $(date

To: r...@xx
Date: Sun, 16 May 2010 00:57:01 +0100 (BST)

command failed with exit status 1

It would be nicer if it didnt't send any if the reason for it exiting
non-zero is that there are no arrays running.

Actually, I think this is due to the []-date test failing: #580825.

However, it is true that with the recent change in cron, checkarray
should not exit non-zero when there are no arrays, I guess.
I changed that to never exit non-zero, even if --cron is not given.
The warning is emitted if run without --cron, and that should be
enough.

Bug#579160: Please hide the ufraw icon from the default GNOME menu

thanks

I have prepared a patch that modifies the ufraw desktop file to
contain the NoDisplay key. NoDisplay means this application exists,
but don't display it in the menus. This can be useful to e.g.
associate this application with MIME types, so that it gets launched
from a file manager (or other apps), without having a menu entry for
it [...]

http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/desktop-entry-spec-latest.html#recognized-keys

The patch also fixes the trivial desktop file invalidities as reported
in #553983.

Bug#525389: MTU calculation fails when default-route is missing

2010-05-20 Thread Chris

Package: vpnc
Version: 0.5.3r449-2
Severity: normal

Hi!

There seems to be the same/similar problem with the vpnc when i'm
connected via wlan at our university and try to start a vpn connection.
When i start the vpnc i get this error:

and the mtu of tun0 is set to 1500. When i comment out the whole "if
[-n "%INTERNAL_IP4_MTU" block and just use MTU=1412 the error is gone.

After that i have tried Philipp solution and it works too, no error is
shown and the mtu is set to 1412.

Steinar, I really think this issue is RC. Loading a Perl module
outside a running apache is quite normal operation. I won't play
ping-pong with the bug severity, but would very much apprecate if you
release a package with this patch applied.

The definition of “important” severity level, according to reportbug:
“A bug which has a major effect on the usability of a package,
without rendering it completely unusable to everyone.” This fits quite nicely
into my assessment of this bug.

 Hi,

I decided to file it with udev because downgrading it solved the
warnings. The warnings I'm referring to are the ones marked
 udev-work[PID].

I believe you, but do you have any idea what is the cause of those warnings?

Nevermind I found the problem. Removing 55-dm-rules.conf solves the
problem and does not appear to have any difference in my system.

Bug#582272: [Pkg-nagios-devel] Bug#582272: nagios-plugins-basic: ssh_disk quoting in disk.cfg wrong

2010-05-20 Thread Jan Wagner
Hi Paul,

On Thursday 20 May 2010 11:46:42 Paul Slootman wrote:

this works here out of the box.

Could you please try the following:

  -C '/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_disk -w '\''$ARG1$'\'' -c
  '\''$ARG2$'\'' -e -p '\''$ARG3$'\'

 I think it's still missing things: after the $ARG3$ (-p option) I'd
expect '\''' or similar; the quotes before the $ARG3 need to be matched,
as well as the quote enclosing the entire -C string.
As I said, wierd quoting and funky escaping :-)

ssh_disk works with the following:

command_line/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_by_ssh -H '$HOSTADDRESS$' -C
'/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_disk -w '\''$ARG1$'\'' -c '\''$ARG2$'\'' -e -p

Bug#575534: libc6: periodic timers hang fork()

2010-05-20 Thread Joachim Breitner
Hi,

Am Mittwoch, den 19.05.2010, 20:47 +0200 schrieb Aurelien Jarno:
I don't think it is possible to disable the timers while running clone
in the libc side. POSIX 2008 is explicit about how signals should be
delivered, and doing that would create a small window of time that
 violates POSIX 2008.

I guess the kernel behaviour of restarting the clone syscall in that
case is also to not violate POSIX 2008.

the ghc compiler was now patched to disable the timers around
fork()/clone(). I did not yet test whether this fixed the problems we
observe on the buildds.

Thomas, in your case, I guess the bug needs to be reassigned against
gcc, as it might be an error in the profiling code created by gcc.

Greetings,
Joachim

Bug#582373: psi: status notification flood the screen

2010-05-20 Thread Toni Mueller
Package: psi
Version: 0.11-9
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I want to see status notifications, but they often occur in floods, and
they take up much too much screen real estate. Esp. with GTalk
friends, useless status notifications are apparently being sent
periodically, instead of only on actual status changes. This results in
my often seeing overly large boxen stacked in the bottom right corner of
the screen, obscuring the windows that I have there.

It would be really nice if the status notification could be re-worked to
require only a fixed amount of screen real estate, eg. in a scrollable
window, that I can control via configuration and/or place where I see
fit.

Kind regards,

This seems to be very much like #582098: dash now looks capable enough
that ./configure doesn't exec bash anymore, but configure.ac contains
a bashism, in this case 'export -n'.

A workaround should be to explicitly call 'bash ./configure' from debian/rules.

Bug#582375: libsynthesis: Update to version 3.4.0.8

2010-05-20 Thread Thomas Bechtold
Package: libsynthesis
Version: Update to version 3.4.0.8
Severity: normal

Please update to version 3.4.0.8 from git-branch simpletype.
I tried to build syncevolution and the newest version (1.0beta3 which is also
outdated in debian; i'll fill a bug report soon) needs a new version of
libsynthesis. But the version from the libsynthesis master-git-branch does not
work. so please take the version from simpletype-branch.

[-3]]

As seen with the 5.10 transition (#468237), the test suite is highly
fragile wrt. Perl diagnostic output and needs to be updated again.

That turned out to be a wrong diagnosis of the problem. The real cause
is a change in Perl internals where G_{ARRAY,VOID,SCALAR} aren't
separate bits anymore.

http://perl5.git.perl.org/perl.git/commit/2f8edad0d37e91319b6ba10b3745327ea49c179b

This seems rather contradictory with perlcall.pod, specifically this passage:

  FLAG VALUES
The flags parameter in all the call_* functions is a bit mask
which can consist of any combination of the symbols defined below,
   OR'ed together.

so I'm cloning a bug against perl-doc.

There's also another problem: SVType(sv) == SVt_RV is now true for
integers as well, as SVt_RV and SVt_IV were merged for 5.12. However,
integers can't generally be referenced, leading to core dumps and the
like. The right way to check for a reference is to use the SvROK() macro.

Two patches attached, the tests pass for me with these on both 5.10.1
and 5.12.1. Please note that the G_ARRAY solution is suboptimal and
needs a build-dependency on perl (= 5.10.1).

Subject: [PATCH 1/2] G_{VOID,SCALAR,ARRAY} aren't separate bits anymore with Perl 5.12

As of

 http://perl5.git.perl.org/perl.git/commit/2f8edad0d37e91319b6ba10b3745327ea49c179b

G_{VOID,SCALAR,ARRAY} aren't really separate bits that can be OR'd together

This is somewhat contradictory to perlcall.pod, and there's no public
interface for checking if G_ARRAY is set in the flags before call_sv(),
so use the undocumented G_WANT mask for now. This works starting with 5.10.1.

It's possible that just comparing for equality with G_ARRAY would do,
as no code path seems to set any other flag bits before calling EvalAll().
I'm not willing to bet on this though, so err to the side of caution.

Reading that message again reminded me that I did not implement a test
for the bootloader version. A note in the documentation recommending
the latest firmware revision might suffice, but I'll also have a look
at how the u-boot version might be detected from userspace.

Running 'strings' over the u-boot partition might work, but I'm not
sure if 'strings' is included in the LSPro firmware. I doubt it is.

I'm not sure if there's another reliable way to figure out the
version.

So indeed that line should read:
 $SETENV bootargs_root root=/dev/sda2 rw panic=5
 precisely as in Tim's email.

Ok, great.

Thanks for working on this, Ryan!

libvpx is the library name for the encoder/decoder, webm is the

A package for libvpx is already waiting in NEW.

Actually, libvpx only deals with the video codec part of webm. The

Would some of you be interested in taking care of libnestegg ?

Bug#582382: rinputd: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates and debian/control review

2010-05-20 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: rinputd
Version: N/A
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Dear Debian maintainer,

On Sunday, May 02, 2010, I notified you of the beginning of a review process
concerning debconf templates for rinputd.

The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates,
and the proposed changes are attached to this bug report.

Please review the suggested changes, and if you have any
objections, let me know in the next 3 days.

However, please try to avoid uploading rinputd with these changes
right now.

The second phase of this process will begin on Sunday, May 23, 2010, when I will
coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates.

The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will
receive an updated PO file for their language.

Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to
the debian-i18n mailing list.

Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as
individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug
reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with.

The call for translation updates and new translations will run until
about Sunday, June 13, 2010. Please avoid uploading a package with fixed or
changed
debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of
course, other changes are safe.

Please note that this is an approximative delay, which depends on my
own availability to process this work and is influenced by the fact
that I simultaneously work on many packages.

Around Monday, June 14, 2010, I will contact you again and will send a final
patch
summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates,
updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations).

Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation.

I'm not interested in libnestegg, especially because I don't understand
why they have to write yet another Matroska demuxer instead of using one

Oh and I should probably add that the gstreamer and ffmpeg matroska

Bug#582383: libc6: When creating/removing a lot of interfaces it's possible to trigger an abort in glibc's getifaddrs

2010-05-20 Thread LEVAI Daniel
Package: libc6
Version: 2.7-18lenny2
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Because of this bug in libc, ladvd (and perhaps other softwares) can
trigger an abort() in libc when network interfaces change (up/down,
create destroy) rapidly. I've noticed this with ladvd, and contacted
its developer to clarify the issue, thus please allow me to quote from a
conversation with Sten Spans - author and maintainer of the ladvd
software -, as this will describe the problem precisely:

 Sten Spans
I think I've found the issue. When creating/removing a lot of
interfaces I'm able to trigger an abort in glibc's getifaddrs:

#0 0x7fd2727604b5 in *__GI_raise (sig=value optimized out)
at ../nptl/sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/raise.c:64
#1 0x7fd272763f50 in *__GI_abort () at abort.c:92
#2 0x7fd27282e9d8 in map_newlink (ifap=value optimized out)
at ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/ifaddrs.c:320
#3 *__GI_getifaddrs (ifap=value optimized out)
at ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/ifaddrs.c:751
#4 0x00407987 in netif_fetch (ifc=value optimized out,
ifl=value optimized out, sysinfo=0x616c40, netifs=0x616c20)
at netif.c:140

This issue has already been fixed in upstream glibc a few weeks ago
with the following patch:

http://sourceware.org/git/?p=glibc.git;a=commitdiff;h=b8b14c4cc38883032b8ebae50c9a8b3efd256483

It would be great if you could verify that this is indeed the issue.
The sad thing is that I'm not quite sure how to solve this without
patching glibc.
-

I was able reproduce this abort on ~180 machines with a lot of interfaces which
are going up/down at a great pace.

The attached patch is from upstream, and is the same as on the above
mentioned sourceware.org link.

Bug#578858: Doesn't work with kdm

2010-05-20 Thread Didier Raboud
Package: libpam-fprint
Version: 20080330+git-4

Hi,

I just retried and investigated a slight more; from /var/log/syslog, it seems
that when libpam-fprint is used, kdm_greet looks for a
/usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/faces/.default.face file. I just touched such a file
and then fingerprint-based authentication works (I have to slide my finger
twice, but it works).

I hope it helps.

Cheers,

Bug#582384: php5-suhosin: suhosin.memory_limit=0 ignores php memory_limit=-1

2010-05-20 Thread christoph

Hello,

the following script:

echo foobar\n;
?

executed on the command line with the following parameters

# php5 --define memory_limit=-1 --define suhosin.memory_limit=0 test.php

leads to this syslog warning:

memory_limit to 268435456 bytes which is above the allowed value (attacker
'REMOTE_ADDR not set', file '/home/christoph/test.php', line 3)

Suhosin should not warn because the script has the permission to use as much
memory as it wants. The problem occurs with the same warning if I set
memory_limit to -1 in php.ini

I think that this bug might be reponsible for the following cacti bug:

Probably because webm is supposed to be a *strict* subset of matroska, not
matroska. I guess other stuff using matroska {de,}muxer won't care about
the strictness, which i actually think is not that good.

Sorry, but this clearly points to described problem with extended precision and
floating point comparison.

Putting printfs in front forces saving values from x87 registers (long double)
to memory (double), and restore expected behavior (-ffloat-store would force
something similar globally).

(And something says me, that if you'd use single printf call in your debug code,
and not series of printfs, result would false false false true instead (for
same reason: in your test code previous printf calls caused x87 register flush,
and changed result of last comparison).)

Well, there can be /also/ gcc bug, but these comparisons look very fragile and
should be fixed anyway (or, at least, workarounded by gcc option).

Closed by maintener and reopened, if we use libpam for umask it could
be even raised to RC critical, so please correct this behavior, report

case, please add a newoption like useupg.

Bug#582035: Explanation of Bug #582035.

2010-05-20 Thread Алексей Шилин
Well, I'm going to explain what's wrong with the current postinstall ppp-udeb
script and what is considered to be done by the previously posted patch.
First of all, the problem appears when you try to install the latest daily
build of Debian netinst using PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE). After probing and
setting up network hardware a PPPoE setup begins with concentrator discovery,
which however fails. In logs you can see a string: pppoe probe output size:
15 (for me) - which means the concentrator is actually found.
To understand what's wrong look at the original ppp_concentrator_on() function
in the attached file.
As you can see pppoe-discovery is started in the background, then its output
through some pipelines is written to /tmp/probe-finished. Meanwhile a while
loop waits for that file to appear.
But after the first (even successfull) loop for doesn't end up and
pppoe-discovery is executed once more. As /tmp/probe-finished already exists
while doesn't run and for ends up. Then the running pppoe-discovery process
is being killed. And that's where the problem is as if killed quickly enough it
outputs nothing and the result of the pipeline is 0 which is then written to
/tmp/probe-finished. Meanwhile this file is being read in the main execution
thread (just after killing the pppoe-discovery process). So if a zero value is
written BEFORE the file is read the function returns 1 which means no
concentrators found. As a typical process race it can appear and disappear in
different circumstances. For example it doesn't come in Alpha1 Debian Installer
(Linux kernel 2.6.30) but does in latest daily builds (Linux kernel 2.6.32 -
changes in process scheduler?). In my case a simple dmesg /dev/null or
sleep 1 or any other command which takes some time to execute past
ed just after R=$(/usr/sbin/pppoe-discovery ... wc -l) gave enough time to
successfully read the file before it is spotted.
The patch however does the trick in a more straight way: if the concentrator is
found the for loop will be broken and it won't execute pppoe-discovery second
time.
It also provides some useful fixes like removing /tmp/ppp-errors (which is
never used outside the function), pre-removing both /tmp/probe-finished and
/tmp/ppp-errors (as each new discovery process should start from scratch) or
assuring the function returns false in case of any timeout.

btw: Throughout the whole initscript, why are you using an x in

Not my code originally: I was glad to have that init script written for

Bug#582389: dpkg: Add tests for Ubuntu changelog parsing

2010-05-20 Thread Colin Watson
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.15.7.2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu ubuntu-patch maverick

Ubuntu's changelog parsing is nearly identical to Debian's, but may emit
an additional Launchpad-Bugs-Fixed header. Test that changelogs
matching the appropriate regex are parsed correctly both for Debian and
Ubuntu.

To do this, we take copies of the standard origin files and add an
internal mechanism allowing Dpkg::Vendor to be pointed at them; and we
run 600_Dpkg_Changelog.t a second time with DEB_VENDOR set, to avoid
duplicating lots of code. See the discussion in #536066 for background.

tried to build syncevolution and the newest version (1.0beta3 which is
also outdated in debian; i'll fill a bug report soon) needs a new

master-git-branch does not work. so please take the version from
 simpletype-branch.

Hi Thomas;

It's on my TODO list to upgrade both, but work is keeping me pretty busy
right now. Did you try building from tag

  libsynthesis_3.4.0.6+syncevolution-1-0-beta-3

In the moblin repos?

Since syncevolution is the only package using libsynthesis in Debian, I
plan to continue following the moblin repos for now.

If your offer for review is still up I'd appreciate if you could take
 a look at it.
I'd like to see README.source inside debian dir with (short) description
of get-orig-source target and situation with crypto part.
And links to GPL/LGPL in copyright file. (In the section describing
extension's license.)

It would be nice if you join alioth's pkg-mozext team to maintain the
package there. Just register, ask for inclusion to team, create
repository and upload in it. (And fix Maintainer/Uploader fields in
control)

I have removed the obsolete native crypto part from the source-package
because 1.2.3 is the first release which uses javascript for this
 part:
So it (original extension) uses javascript by default? Or it uses native
code when possible to improve performance?

Please ignore my last mail as I just discovered that the native
library cannont be removed yet without breaking weave sync. Thus I
 removed my package from mentors.d.n.
Oh, I see. That's ok. So will you make this package arch-dependent with
compilation on native crypto code?
