Hi,
This is a new driver in 1.0.18, but no man page is included. Without it,
setup is a little challenging.
Upstream does not provide a manpage for this backend; patches welcome
:)

It is important to warn the admin in this case because either:
- there is no hardware support for MCEs, and mcelog is useless
- kernel support is lacking, or the device node is not there, so
mcelog cannot work
And we both know that nobody reads the damn README :)

Looks like the call for setting the device configuration fails for
some reason, though I can't tell why. Aurélien will maybe have an
idea.

Hi,
Former versions of xsane worked very well in this combination.
Can you please install an older version of XSane and see what happens ?
This could be a problem on the printing side, and not in XSane, so
let's rule that out first.

Hi,
Transition packages are needed in the ntp-* - ntp transition, as ntp-simple
(at least, ntp-refclock probably does the same) removes the ntp user in
its postrm script.
So, purging ntp-simple once the new ntp package is installed
the bug.
Anyway, you need the transition packages so that purging ntp-simple
won't remove the ntp user from the system. Otherwise your transition
is just broken, plain and simple.

you missed the fact that there would be a leftover process running
under a non-existing user for a potentially long period of time.

that's news to me.
Where's the problem in supplying transition packages for the packages
you are removing, so as to provide a clean upgrade path ?

the horrible adduser-in-initscript hack. Though a
couple of DDs on IRC had a good laugh with that, once they were done
screaming.
