Bug#626253: virtuoso-opensource: New upstream release available

2011-05-10 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: virtuoso-opensource
Version: 6.1.2+dfsg1
Severity: normal

virtuoso-opensource 6.1.3 is available fixing several issues. Please provide
an updated package.

I succeeded to build the package with updated source files but had to remove
debian/patches/repack-tutorial.patch for dpkg-buildpackage to run through.

Bug#580360: [libwmf-bin] wmf2svg doesn't set fill:none property

2010-05-05 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: libwmf-bin
Version: 0.2.8.4-6.1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
wmf2svg is missing the fill:none property for all objects without fill in my
specific source. However the standard defines the default value of fill to be
black [1] which Inkscape renders as such. This adds a black fill to lines and
boxes though not being defined in the original wmf file.

A workaround is the following short sed substitution:

cat file.svg | sed s/style=\\(.*\)\/style=\fill:none;\\1\/  file_new.svg

This script adds fill:none for all tags with a style attribute. Tags that
already have an attribute have their initial none value ignored in inkscape.

Due to external Copyright I can't post the original wmf file, sorry.

Bug#577096: python-tegaki: Incompatible with Python 2.4

2010-04-09 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: python-tegaki
Version: 0.3.1-1
Severity: normal

When installing python-tegaki 0.3.1-1 aptitude reports the following
(lang=de...@euro):

The language feature STMNT1 if BOOLEAN else STMNT2 is new to Python 2.5
and thus Tegaki should probably be considered incompatible to Python2.4.
Python2.4 is not available from unstable anymore, but I still have those
packages installed.

For python-support it seems you need to setup a file debian/pyversions with
the content 2.5-, see /usr/share/doc/python-support/README.gz.

Thanks for the info. I know that 2.4 is not supported anymore, but as Debian
has no way of removing once shipped packages I assumed there's at least a way
to keep newer updates respecting left-over packages. I might be wrong but
something along the line of adding a Conflict: python2.4 would add minimum
compatibility.

It's not really a bug so you can probably ignore this after all.

Oh, and keeping 2.4 does serve a purpose for testing compliance of own
packages. :)

Bug#541784: [ibus] Composite key stops working

Composing characters via the composite key stops working when ibus is running
the background (but not activated).

E.g. COMPOSITE +  + u should give an ü.

My composite key is set to Caps Lock in the KDE system settings. Ibus is set
to Use system keyboard layout setting. I experienced the same problem with
fcitx; SCIM I believe works with the composite key.

I wonder how others write Pinyin with IME activated.

Bug#541198: python-mysqldb: utf8_bin collation will not convert to Unicode strings

2009-08-12 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: python-mysqldb
Version: 1.2.2-8
Severity: normal

A string type column with a utf8_bin collation will not be converted to a
Python Unicode string, but instead will be returned as a utf8 (byte) string.

The MySQL documentation though clearly states: A nonbinary string has a
character set and is converted to another character set in many cases, even
when the string has a _bin collation[1].

I understand that a string with utf8_bin collation is still a string and
thus should not be dealt with differently. The utf8_bin collation is
essential when working with Unicode without wanting the Unicode collation
algorithm to kick in.

How to reproduce:

CREATE TABLE t1 (
a CHAR(10) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_bin,
);

INSERT INTO t1 VALUES ('ü');

In Python:
 import MySQLdb
 db = MySQLdb.connect(db='pymysqltest', charset='utf8', use_unicode=True)
 cur = db.cursor()
 cur.execute(SELECT a FROM t1;)
1L
 cur.fetchall()
(('\xc3\xbc',),)

Chosing utf8_general_ci instead of utf8_bin will properly yield Unicode
objects:

 cur.execute(SELECT a COLLATE utf8_general_ci FROM t1;)
1L
 cur.fetchall()
((u'\xfc',),)

Bug#524956: Fixed by Option NoAccel yes

2009-05-02 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Adding
Option NoAccel yes

in #523415. Sorry for the dup.

Oh, I don't get any emails forwared from the Debian bug system these days,
that's why the late answer.

Bug#519414: alsa-base: Card lookup fails after post-Lenny updates

2009-03-12 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: alsa-base
Version: 1.0.17.dfsg-4
Severity: important

Atfer updating to the latest unstable's packages alsa breaks for most
software. alsaplayer, alsamixer and iceweasel flash for example or unable to
produce any sound, though Qt's Phonon based applications work reporting a
change away from the default settings.

The system was initially setup as to have the built in soundcard mapped to
card 1 while an optional external usb soundcard was mapped to 0:

$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/sound.usb
alias snd-card-1 snd-intel8x0
options snd-intel8x0 index=1
alias snd-card-0 snd-usb-audio
options snd-usb-audio index=0

It might be that additional settings existed in file sound setting
snd-intel8x0 to be snd-card-0 but it is now unclear if this setting was ever
applied.

After upgrading multiple packages from post-Lenny's unstable (within libc6
and libasound2) this setting stopped working and only after swaping the
cards made sound working again in all programs. I don't know which package
caused the original setup to suddenly fail, downgrading to either
libasound2_1.0.16-2 or module-init-tools_3.4-1 did not help.

I'll append further output to document the system's status before making
sound work again by swapping the card order:

reporting.

 It looks like some of the files installed by python-qt4 already exists
 in your system. Here [1] you can find the full list of files provided
 by python-qt4. Check if any of them are still present after purging
 python-qt4, try to find what package is providing them and remove it.

 Then try to install python-qt4 again.

Thanks for the hint. I am not enough a Debian package pro though to want to
purge and deinstall its dependencies right now. I forgot and didn't check that
I was running experimental on that package and downgrading solved the problem
for now though sacrificing Phonon support. Knowing that in general the package
seems to work for other people I'd like to live with the current solution,
hoping (in a maybe too optimistic way) that future versions will solve the
issue. This said only if the problem doesn't affect other people where as I
could help out with further investigation.

Bug#511753: insserv: Missing symlinks in rcN.d after removing insserv

2009-01-13 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: insserv
Version: 1.12.0-4
Severity: important
File: insserv

After removing insserv at least the following symlinks in /etc/rcN.d are
missing:
  - mysql
  - cups

It looks like I installed insserv on 2008-11-04. The packages with missing
symlinks have been afterwards updated (cups and mysql) and reinstalled
(mysql).

I am missing the actual output of insserv as the service had to be stoped by
hand outside aptitude where I then used dpkg to remove the package. No log
files for this action exist, Sorry.

everything was working and it turned out, that I had an encoding problem in
the local path, which prevented Phonon of playing the track, mea culpa.

Something I saw porting the code was that the C++ version seems to allow a
string for MediaObject.setCurrentSource(), though PyQt4 does not, that might
be a bug upstream.

Anyway, this bug can be closed. Thanks for you patience.

Bug#506979: [Python-modules-team] Bug#506979: python-qt4: Please package with Phonon

2008-12-02 Thread Christoph Burgmer
I had to install python-sip4_4.7.9-1_i386.deb to actually make it work. Before
that my whole python-qt4 installation was broken, should be so for others too.

Now, when I follow simple steps:

from PyQt4.phonon import Phonon
mediaObject = Phonon.createPlayer(Phonon.NotificationCategory,
Phonon.MediaSource(local.mp3))
mediaObject.play()

I get the following lines on stdout:

I don't get any actual sound output. It seems like Phonon is probing all
available sound cards and failing.

And indeed qtconfig-qt4 is grayed out in the Phonon configuration section and
says Phonon GStreamer backend is not available.

KDE Phonon though works, is that a packaging problem? Do I need other packages
installed?

Should I open a new bug report?

Please CC me in replies.

Bug#494752: [kdelibs5] Deletion of selected text on refocus

2008-08-11 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: kdelibs5
Version: 4:4.1.0-1
Severity: important

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Selected text in editable widgets (might be connected to KTextEdit fields) is
removed on a refocus. This refocus can be a switch from the search bar of
Kate/Kwrite to the text edit or a application switch (via Alt+Tab). In those
cases text that is selected will be removed.

This error occurs in Kwrite and in own applications using kdelibs.

See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=167982 for the bug filed against
KWrite that was closed (though WORKSFORME is wrong).

This is an important bug as it removes text without notice.

Bug#490730: [python-kde4] Downgrading kdelibs

2008-07-14 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: python-kde4
Version: 4.0.2-1-1

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
I tried to downgrade kdelibs5 using kdelibs5_4.0.70+svn799089-2_i386.deb
from snapshot.debian.net, but this fails as it needs an older version of
kdebase-runtime which is not provided with the snapshots. It conflicts with
the phonon files which where split out with 4:4.0.82+svn819867-1 which is
also not available.

Building python-kde4 from source with

apt-get -b source python-kde4

doesn't help either as it exists saying:

[...]

Generating the C++ source for the kdecore module...
sip: /tmp/python-kde4-4.0.2-1/sip/kdecore/typedefs.sip:263: %MappedType
template for this type has already been defined
Error: Unable to create the C++ code.

If reporting errors, paste all of the output above into your
message and post to the PyKDE mailing list at:

 mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
 subscribe: http://www.riverbankcomputing.com/mailman/listinfo/pyqt

You can redirect the output into a file ( output.txt) if needed

make: *** [build-2.5/configure-stamp] Error 1

I guess that's what mentioned in the other open bug report(s).

Any other hints?

Bug#489690: Opting out on installation of safe-rm breaks install process

 If I understand you correctly, you'd like to see a clearer debconf message.
 What do you think it should say instead of the current one?

Hmm, I guess what I described is the only work around? Then maybe tell the
user to stop installing safe-rm i.e. removing it and install it again later.

Bug#490730: [python-kde4] ImportError using KHTMLPart (non-functional)

2008-07-13 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: python-kde4
Version: 4.0.2-1-1
Severity: important

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
After updating my system I receive a stack trace when importing the KHTMLPart
saying:

 from PyKDE4.khtml import KHTMLPart
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File stdin, line 1, in module
ImportError: /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/PyKDE4/khtml.so: undefined
symbol: _ZN3DOM7Element18setContentEditableEb

Reverting python-qt4 and python-sip4 which where included in the update back
to 4.3.3-3 and 4.7.4-1 doesn't help, unlike with the bug that was reported in
[1].

I suspect the update of kdelibs5 triggered this as this was changed recently.
It seems other PyKDE4 modules are not affected.

Any hints to get the system back to an older state quickly? It breaks my
application.

Bug#489690: Opting out on installation of safe-rm breaks install process

2008-07-12 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: safe-rm
Version: 0.2-4
Followup-For: Bug #489690

Guys,

I wanted to check safe-rm when installing the package with other updates. On
installation time it told me to rather abort as it may leave my system
without /bin/rm, so I selected yes as proposed. Then aptitude didn't
commence installing packages. After starting the installation process twice
or three times I finally suspected it was safe-rm which was stopping the
whole process, and finally everything installs fine after I removed safe-rm
from my updates.

If there is no otherway to work around the possible bad behaviour please at
least tell your users what to do, as I assume this package attracts rather
inexperienced users due to the nature of the task.

Best, Chris

Bug#484812: skim: Generates DCOP warning

2008-06-06 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: skim
Version: 1.4.5-4
Severity: normal

After installing skim logging into kde (3.5.9) gives me a warning about DCOP
not running. This probably stems from the fact that the IM is started before
DCOP. See Ubuntu bug # 48484.

JFTR: No old ~/.DCOPserver_chrislbMobile__0 exists (nothing to delete when
not logged in) and putting /etc/X11/Xsession.d/80im-switch to 99 doesn't
help either.

I remember having this error once before when installing skim but I don't
know if 'aptitude remove skim' was the only solution for it.

Bug#484657: skim: Skim character dialog's width varies

2008-06-05 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: skim
Version: 1.4.5-4
Severity: normal

When browsing through the offered characters given for an input (here:
Pinyin) the window's width varies as it depends on the presence of the
forward/backward buttons (1 vs. 2) and the width of the characters shown. It
is thus now possible to simply click through all options, but instead one
needs to refocus the mouse cursor to move on.

A simple solution would be to always show both buttons, disable the one(s)
not needed and make the placement of them independant on the count and
widths of characters shown to the left.

Package: amarok
Version: 1.4.9.1-2

I have the same problem over here, approx. 60 seconds, high load, no scripts

I did a 'strace amarok' which generates a hugh load of output as amarok
seems to call the same functions over and over again a few times a second.

I'll paste the lines towards the end of the output. You need to repeat the

Bug#476738: kword-data: .desktop file inconsistent

2008-04-18 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: kword-data
Version: 1:1.6.3-5
Severity: minor

kword's desktop file doesn't comply to the standards [1].

Running
$ desktop-file-validate /usr/share/applications/kde/kword.desktop

gives upon others the following line:
/usr/share/applications/kde/kword.desktop: error: value
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text;application/x-kword;application/msword;text/rtf;text/plain;application/x-mswrite
/for string list key MimeType in group Desktop Entry does not have a
semicolon (';') as trailing character

If you believe filing a bug against this is superflous let me know, this
isn't the only package generating this kind of output.

Regards,
Chris

Bug#475403: pykdeuic4: wrong import for KDE4 widgets

2008-04-10 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: python-kde4-dev
Version: 4.0.2-1-1
Severity: normal

Using pykdeuic4 to convert UI files generated by Qt Designer to Python
classes results in wrong mappings for many KDE4 widgets.

While standard classes are imported correctly...
 from PyKDE4 import kdecore
 from PyKDE4 import kdeui
 from PyQt4 import QtCore, QtGui
special widgets are imported at the end of the document giving a non-
existent package:
 from kcombobox import KComboBox

Correct would be:
 from PyKDE4.kdeui import KComboBox

As the Python class needs to be converted after every change made in Qt
Designer this bug is a bit annoying as changes made to the class are lost on
each update.

Bug#474580: python-mysqldb: Missing support for TEXT data type

2008-04-06 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: python-mysqldb
Version: 1.2.2-6
Severity: normal

MySQLdb seems to miss support for MySQL's data type TEXT. This crops up when
handling Unicode encoded strings.

TEXT seems to be similar to a BLOB though having textual features on sorting
and knows about encoding. [1]

The current behaviour towards TEXT data is to return it unencoded though
others seem to cover conversion (Unicode).

When option use_unicode is set to true MySQLdb will convert the following
for types according to the encoding: [2]
* FIELD_TYPE.STRING
* FIELD_TYPE.VAR_STRING
* FIELD_TYPE.VARCHAR
* FIELD_TYPE.BLOB

The field type definition [3] lacks an explicit definition of the TEXT type
and thus I assume further down in the implementation the case of TEXT
elements is not covered.

As I understand from the MySQL documentation [1] a BLOB shouldn't be
converted using some encoding though TEXT should be.

I couldn't find a place where the library asks about the actual data type
comming from MySQL but adding a new field type and adding it to the
conversion method doesn't do the trick. I guess this has to be fixed
upstream.

Bug#463734: python-epydoc: epydoc parses file in global path instead of local directory

 What command line arguments are you using, and what directory are you
 executing it from? Also, try running epydoc with --parse-only, and
 running it with --introspect-only, to see if both parsing
 introspection are picking up the wrong copy, or just one of them.

Out of convenience I'm setting these in the config file right now. Either way
both parsing introspection will give me the same reponse as that my latest
changes aren't reflected.

I'm calling epydoc -v --config epydoc_config on the project's root source
directory, where file AAA (see previous mail) lies in. File BBB lies beneath
in a subdirectory.

I had to comment out the subdirectory for the modules directive, as
strangely enough I received an exception during building the API when either
way one of parsing intospection is turned off. Though we might want to
handle this seperately I'll append the error and the piece of code that
generates it. The error generating file CCC lies in the subdirectory.

Now thinks get a bit more interesting. When commenting out the variable
definition in File CCC that gives me the error message I receive a different
behaviour: having both pi turned on, the later changes are not reflected.
Turning introspect off gives me the newest version, turning parsing off gives
me the error on building.

Funnily enough that gives me a different result compared to yesterday. Both
BBB and CCC lie in the same subdirectory. Right now I can't reproduce the
results from yesterday (for BBB). I did some changes to the code yesterday
though.

I'll append my config file too.

HTH, thank you both for your quick reply.

Bug#463734: python-epydoc: epydoc parses file in global path instead of local directory

2008-02-02 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: python-epydoc
Version: 3.0~beta1-5
Severity: normal

If a package is available globally to the system in addition to the version
in the local directory epydoc seems to prefer the global file over the local
in some occasions when building the package's API.

I am working with some files on a local copy which are also installed as a
packaged version in an older version.

File AAA is installed under /usr/bin/AAA through the package and file BBB is
installed under /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/*/BBB.

Changes in files AAA and BBB do only show up for the latter file BBB in the
generated API. The content for AAA seems to be taken from the older version
under /usr/bin/AAA whereas BBBs newer version from the local copy is read.

As I'm not quite sure whether or not it's a upstream problem I rather submit
a report here.

Thanks,

Christoph

2008-01-30 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Hi Ming Hua,

from what I read I can only say I have the same symptoms over here for more
than two years. See for example #405393, something what for me now can not be
attributed to SKIM but rather to SCIM as I removed skim long time ago.

Please tell me how I can support you by giving data. I'm using unstable, kde,
scim as daemon, pinyin-input, locales:
LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=de_DE:de:en_GB:en
LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8

~$ set | grep XMODIFIERS

~$ set | grep GTK_IM_MODULE
GTK_IM_MODULE=xim

Things that stop working often are: konsole, after 2-3 hours of work, kopete
(kde messenger) after 20 - 60 minutes, Java apps after 15 minutes, kde
screensaver 4 out of 5 times (Alt-F1 to console, kill kde-screensaver...).

All these values are highly subjective. What helps is restarting the app in
question. Funnily enough like said above is that system keys like alt-...
and menu keys still work.

SCIM will never stop talking keys (as long it can be started, as this key will
be eaten as well). Why do I think it's SCIM? The problem startet after
using it by default and nobody else I know not having SCIM installed has
these problems.

Again, i will thankfully supply data once you tell me what can help

Bug#461062: iso-codes: Old/incorrect documentation

2008-01-16 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: iso-codes
Version: 1.8-1
Severity: minor

First of all you have a typo in usr/share/doc/iso-codes/README.gz:
The official IS0-639 maintenance agency should obviously spell ISO-639.

Then for ISO-639-3 you still call it a draft, though it is officially out
since summer last year.

I suggest you update the whole ISO 639 part as now two (well three)
authorities are active in ISO 639 development.

Further more the changelog states:
- Dec 17th 2007: added 'Pashto' as alternative for ps
but the relevant file usr/share/xml/iso-codes/iso_639.xml
still states:
Status: ISO 639-2:1998 + additions and changes until 2007-08-08

Bug marked as minor as all of that is just missing consistency in the
documentation.

Adding wave files and then changing the export path input box manually by
pasting a path and modifying the export variables (e.g. %n) isn't honoured
by soundkonverter.
It will instead store the files in the path originally selected.

Bug#456950: soundkonverter: reportbug doesn't honour manual changes in the export path field

I just realised that this behaviour isn't limited to the export path, but to
all settings that can be made in the main window's simple tab pane.
The pane says choose your output options then click 'add file' (translated
from german).

It seems that this behaviour is wanted. I still think this way of handling is
very irritating. Please consider this a problem with usability.

* HanDeDict [2], Sdictionary dict from the Sdict community website
* Babylon English to Frech dictionary [3], babylon dict referenced from the

ktranslator: Dictionaries (freedict en_de)
ktranslator: Dictionary freedict en_de

Bug#452341: libtextcat-data: inconsistent naming of data files

2007-11-21 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: libtextcat-data
Version: 2.2-2
Severity: minor

The file containing the trigrams for the greek language is names
greek-iso8859-7.lm
though all other files only use the hyphen to separate language name from
encoding name. For the sake of automatic parsing consistency is desirable.

Furthermore the file yiddish-utf.lm doesn't state clearly which encoding it
uses, I guess it should be utf8 though my converters do give a lot of
rubbish when interpreting.

Bug#441368: python-epydoc: Indexed Terms (X{...}) from method docstrings linked wrongly in index

2007-09-09 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: python-epydoc
Version: 3.0~beta1-2
Severity: normal

Indexing Terms in method docstrings results in wrong links in the term
index. It seems that first a link to the method is taken and then the more
specific link to the term is appended. This results in a link with two
anchor links:
[...]/'module name'.'class name'-class.html#'method name'#index-'indexed term'
Konqueror and Firefox (Iceweasel) both ignore the double anchors.

2007-04-28 Thread Christoph Burgmer

My installation was changed from xserver-xorg-video-i810 to -intel lately.
Since then I assume that I can't play videos / dvds anymore. Other parts
work normally. A quick glimpse inside the Xorg log didn't give me any hints
so I downgraded to the -i810 package again from testing.
I will provide more system information and log output if I know where to
look.

Bug#416951: File is lost during tagging

2007-03-31 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: picard
Version: 0.7.2-2
Severity: grave

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
While tagging several albums today a file was lost.

I'll describe my actions in a chronological order:

I tagged seven albums and clicked on save. The first album couldn't be saved
due to wrong setting of write permissions. Then after writing the first 3
titles of the second album Picard was stuck for several minutes. While
waiting for Picard to write more tags I used drag and drop to put the files
of the first album back to the album, as Picard put them under files with
errors (or whatever the english form is).
After that I changed the option don't move file on writing tags (though I am
not 100% sure if I didn't do it later after a restart).
When Picard wouldn't write any more files I closed it using the menu (no
kill).
After that I realised a file was missing. It might be notable, that the
filename contained a question mark '?', at least that's what locate is giving
me.
So neither the source name (original name) exists, nor the target name, to
what Picard would've written it. So I must conclude that the file is gone.

Example 2:

Bug#411290: wget: Errors in decoding url-encoded filenames in unicode

2007-02-17 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: wget
Version: 1.10.2-2
Severity: important

wget has problems decoding url-encoded filenames, if their original name is
encoded in unicode (or at least has chinese characters in it).
I started wget as
wget -i filename
and filename included more then 200 urls where each filename included a
chinese character. In the end only 1/3 of the downloaded files where saved
with the proper filename, the rest ended up looking like
8A%9B-order.gif
where the url-encoded filename looked like
%E5%8A%9B-order.gif
and should've been saved as
力-order.gif
Hence wget is unusable for this case.

Bug#405393: Other weired occurrences

2007-02-04 Thread Christoph Burgmer
I deinstalled skim recently and the problem persists, now only running scim.
It seems to occur less, but I have to wait a bit for a real evaluation.
I ran across a website saying not to install skim in debian because of this
bug, so other people don't seem to have this problem with scim (only skim).
Well, actually it stoped right know and I have to type in another window and
cut n paste that with my mouse.

I don't even blame skim for stopping keyboard input completly (though
notably stopping when hitting return in konsole), but even eating
keystrokes like ctrl-shift-XXX, XXX being a key that definitely
worked before. This effect is even worse in Inkscape, and other
non-KDE programs, Java-apps... Scrolling through hitting keys though
still works, even if normal text can't be input any more.

   What are your environment settings (if any) for scim/skim?

  My locale settings are
  LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
  LANGUAGE=de_DE:de:en_GB:en
  LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8

 Can you show us the result of env |grep scim

$ env | grep scim
$ env | grep skim
$ env | grep SCIM
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
$ env | grep SKIM
$

I never had any environment settings for this, except the XMODIFIERS.

I am using intelligent pinyin (translated from the german string) but have
other modules installed (UIM, Hangul, Canna...).

I don't know what further information can help, if you need the scim configs I
can mail them to you.

Maybe this helps to track down the bug.

Bug#407587: reportbug doesn't warn on wrong package name

2007-01-19 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: reportbug
Version: 3.31
Severity: minor

reportbug doesn't check if package name exists. That way typos can occur
and bother people who manualy have to assign the bug to the right project.
See #407564 for an example.

When reporting the bug mentioned above I didn't use the urwid interface.
Don't know if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

Christoph Burgmer

Bug#407564: mysql-server5.0: Unicode fails to work out of the box

2007-01-19 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Package: mysql-server5.0
Severity: normal

mysql-server5.0 fails to work out of the box. Instead it uses latin1, something
I'm not using on my system.
Adding default-character-set=utf8 to [mysql] in /etc/mysql/my.cnf solves this
problem.
I don't know where mysql takes it's default character set from, if it is not
specified, but the debian package should respect it's user's settings.

Thanks,

Christoph Burgmer

Bug#334231: Same over here for more than a year

2007-01-05 Thread Christoph Burgmer
Hi,

same over here.
LC_CTYPE=zh_CN
works,
LC_CTYPE=de.UTF-8
does so, too, but
LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8
really makes kaffeine stop starting. There is no output execpt

0
QLayout unnamed added to QWidget unnamed, which already has a layout

.
This has been like this for more than a year. Thanks for the hint with the
locale. Wonder how to come to this solution.
My whole locale setting looks like this:
LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=de_DE:de:en_GB:en
LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8

HTH,

Christoph Burgmer
