Bug#580360: [libwmf-bin] wmf2svg doesn't set fill:none property
Package: libwmf-bin Version: 0.2.8.4-6.1 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- wmf2svg is missing the fill:none property for all objects without fill in my specific source. However the standard defines the default value of fill to be black [1] which Inkscape renders as such. This adds a black fill to lines and boxes though not being defined in the original wmf file. A workaround is the following short sed substitution: cat file.svg | sed s/style=\\(.*\)\/style=\fill:none;\\1\/ file_new.svg This script adds fill:none for all tags with a style attribute. Tags that already have an attribute have their initial none value ignored in inkscape. Bug#577096: python-tegaki: Incompatible with Python 2.4
Sandro, Am Freitag, 9. April 2010 schrieb Sandro Tosi: Compatibility bugs for 2.4 are no longer valid (but I'm not closing it since i'm neither the pacakge maitainer nor the original reporter). Thanks for the info. I know that 2.4 is not supported anymore, but as Debian has no way of removing once shipped packages I assumed there's at least a way to keep newer updates respecting left-over packages. I might be wrong but something along the line of adding a Conflict: python2.4 would add minimum compatibility. It's not really a bug so you can probably ignore this after all. Oh, and keeping 2.4 does serve a purpose for testing compliance of own packages. :) -Christoph -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#541198: python-mysqldb: utf8_bin collation will not convert to Unicode strings
Package: python-mysqldb Version: 1.2.2-8 Severity: normal A string type column with a utf8_bin collation will not be converted to a Python Unicode string, but instead will be returned as a utf8 (byte) string. The MySQL documentation though clearly states: A nonbinary string has a character set and is converted to another character set in many cases, even when the string has a _bin collation[1]. I understand that a string with utf8_bin collation is still a string and thus should not be dealt with differently. The utf8_bin collation is essential when working with Unicode without wanting the Unicode collation algorithm to kick in. How to reproduce: CREATE TABLE t1 ( a CHAR(10) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_bin, ); INSERT INTO t1 VALUES ('ü'); In Python: import MySQLdb db = MySQLdb.connect(db='pymysqltest', charset='utf8', use_unicode=True) cur = db.cursor() cur.execute(SELECT a FROM t1;) 1L cur.fetchall() (('\xc3\xbc',),) Chosing utf8_general_ci instead of utf8_bin will properly yield Unicode objects: cur.execute(SELECT a COLLATE utf8_general_ci FROM t1;) 1L cur.fetchall() ((u'\xfc',),) [1] http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/charset-binary-collations.html -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: lang=de...@euro, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages python-mysqldb depends on: ii libc6 2.9-23 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libmysqlclient16 5.1.37-1 MySQL database client library ii python2.5.4-2An interactive high-level object-o ii python-support1.0.3 automated rebuilding support for P python-mysqldb recommends no packages. Bug#519414: alsa-base: Card lookup fails after post-Lenny updates
Package: alsa-base Version: 1.0.17.dfsg-4 Severity: important Atfer updating to the latest unstable's packages alsa breaks for most software. alsaplayer, alsamixer and iceweasel flash for example or unable to produce any sound, though Qt's Phonon based applications work reporting a change away from the default settings. The system was initially setup as to have the built in soundcard mapped to card 1 while an optional external usb soundcard was mapped to 0: $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/sound.usb alias snd-card-1 snd-intel8x0 options snd-intel8x0 index=1 alias snd-card-0 snd-usb-audio options snd-usb-audio index=0 It might be that additional settings existed in file sound setting snd-intel8x0 to be snd-card-0 but it is now unclear if this setting was ever applied. After upgrading multiple packages from post-Lenny's unstable (within libc6 and libasound2) this setting stopped working and only after swaping the cards made sound working again in all programs. I don't know which package caused the original setup to suddenly fail, downgrading to either libasound2_1.0.16-2 or module-init-tools_3.4-1 did not help. Here [1] you can find the full list of files provided by python-qt4. Check if any of them are still present after purging python-qt4, try to find what package is providing them and remove it. Then try to install python-qt4 again. Thanks for the hint. I am not enough a Debian package pro though to want to purge and deinstall its dependencies right now. I forgot and didn't check that I was running experimental on that package and downgrading solved the problem for now though sacrificing Phonon support. Knowing that in general the package seems to work for other people I'd like to live with the current solution, hoping (in a maybe too optimistic way) that future versions will solve the issue. This said only if the problem doesn't affect other people where as I could help out with further investigation. close_bug()? Christoph

Bug#506979: [Python-modules-team] Bug#506979: python-qt4: Please package with Phonon
Am Wednesday, 3. December 2008 schrieb Torsten Marek: As for Phonon not finding its backends, that seems to be purely a configuration issue. On my system, the file plays just fine using phonon 4.2.0-2. KDE Phonon though works, is that a packaging problem? Do I need other packages installed? Are you running KDE when trying out the PyQt4 code? Should I open a new bug report? Does a C++ version of your Python code behave in the same way? If it does, then it's a Phonon problem. I ported the Phonon example on Techbase [1] which gave me the certainty everything was working and it turned out, that I had an encoding problem in the local path, which prevented Phonon of playing the track, mea culpa. Something I saw porting the code was that the C++ version seems to allow a string for MediaObject.setCurrentSource(), though PyQt4 does not, that might be a bug upstream. Anyway, this bug can be closed. Thanks for you patience. Christoph [1] http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Phonon/Introduction/Python

Bug#480211: strace amarok
Package: amarok Version: 1.4.9.1-2 Followup-For: Bug #480211 I have the same problem over here, approx. 60 seconds, high load, no scripts running except the default. I did a 'strace amarok' which generates a hugh load of output as amarok seems to call the same functions over and over again a few times a second. I'll paste the lines towards the end of the output. You need to repeat the first few lines approx 10.000 times to get the actual number: gettimeofday({1211458442, 463767}, NULL) = 0 select(14, [3 4 5 12 13], [], [], {0, 8260}) = 0 (Timeout) gettimeofday({1211458442, 479530}, NULL) = 0 waitpid(5547, 0xbfbb9308, WNOHANG) = 0 ioctl(5, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 ioctl(3, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 gettimeofday({1211458442, 480146}, NULL) = 0 select(14, [3 4 5 12 13], [], [], {0, 1881}) = 0 (Timeout) gettimeofday({1211458442, 483290}, NULL) = 0 waitpid(5547, 0xbfbb9308, WNOHANG) = 0 ioctl(5, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 ioctl(3, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 gettimeofday({1211458442, 483883}, NULL) = 0 select(14, [3 4 5 12 13], [], [], {0, 8144}) = 0 (Timeout) gettimeofday({1211458442, 499485}, NULL) = 0 waitpid(5547, 0xbfbb9308, WNOHANG) = 0 ioctl(5, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 ioctl(3, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 gettimeofday({1211458442, 500099}, NULL) = 0 select(14, [3 4 5 12 13], [], [], {0, 1928}) = 0 (Timeout) gettimeofday({1211458442, 503381}, NULL) = 0 waitpid(5547, 0xbfbb9308, WNOHANG) = 0 ioctl(5, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 ioctl(3, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 gettimeofday({1211458442, 503996}, NULL) = 0 select(14, [3 4 5 12 13], [], [], {0, 8031}) = 0 (Timeout) gettimeofday({1211458442, 519457}, NULL) = 0 waitpid(5547, 0xbfbb9308, WNOHANG) = 0 ioctl(5, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 ioctl(3, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 gettimeofday({1211458442, 520076}, NULL) = 0 select(14, [3 4 5 12 13], [], [], {0, 1951}) = 0 (Timeout) gettimeofday({1211458442, 523296}, NULL) = 0 waitpid(5547, 0xbfbb9308, WNOHANG) = 0 ioctl(5, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 ioctl(3, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 gettimeofday({1211458442, 523899}, NULL) = 0 select(14, [3 4 5 12 13], [], [], {0, 8128}) = 1 (in [5], left {0, 8128}) read(5, STARTUP\n, 4096) = 8 select(6, [5], NULL, NULL, {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) gettimeofday({1211458442, 526327}, NULL) = 0 ioctl(3, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 gettimeofday({1211458442, 526619}, NULL) = 0 select(14, [3 4 5 12 13], [], [], {0, 5408}) = 0 (Timeout) gettimeofday({1211458442, 531234}, NULL) = 0 ioctl(3, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 gettimeofday({1211458442, 531535}, NULL) = 0 select(14, [3 4 5 12 13], [], [], {0, 492}) = 0 (Timeout) gettimeofday({1211458442, 535165}, NULL) = 0 waitpid(5547, 0xbfbb9308, WNOHANG) = 0 ioctl(5, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 ioctl(5, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 ioctl(5, FIONREAD, [0]) = 0 close(5)= 0 close(11) = 0 close(12) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGCHLD, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGPIPE, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 write(3, \5\2\0\0\0\240\2+\0\1\0, 12) = 12 read(3, \1\1x\0\0\0\0\0\10\0\200\2# \10\20\5\266\277(\5\266\277..., 32) = 32 shutdown(3, 2 /* send and receive */) = 0 close(3)= 0 write(4, \1\v\1\0\1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0008\22=\267, 16) = 16 close(4)= 0 exit_group(0) = ? Bug#475403: pykdeuic4: wrong import for KDE4 widgets
Package: python-kde4-dev Version: 4.0.2-1-1 Severity: normal Using pykdeuic4 to convert UI files generated by Qt Designer to Python classes results in wrong mappings for many KDE4 widgets. While standard classes are imported correctly... from PyKDE4 import kdecore from PyKDE4 import kdeui from PyQt4 import QtCore, QtGui special widgets are imported at the end of the document giving a non- existent package: from kcombobox import KComboBox Correct would be: from PyKDE4.kdeui import KComboBox As the Python class needs to be converted after every change made in Qt Designer this bug is a bit annoying as changes made to the class are lost on each update. Bug#474580: python-mysqldb: Missing support for TEXT data type
Package: python-mysqldb Version: 1.2.2-6 Severity: normal MySQLdb seems to miss support for MySQL's data type TEXT. This crops up when handling Unicode encoded strings. TEXT seems to be similar to a BLOB though having textual features on sorting and knows about encoding. [1] The current behaviour towards TEXT data is to return it unencoded though others seem to cover conversion (Unicode). When option use_unicode is set to true MySQLdb will convert the following for types according to the encoding: [2] * FIELD_TYPE.STRING * FIELD_TYPE.VAR_STRING * FIELD_TYPE.VARCHAR * FIELD_TYPE.BLOB The field type definition [3] lacks an explicit definition of the TEXT type and thus I assume further down in the implementation the case of TEXT elements is not covered. As I understand from the MySQL documentation [1] a BLOB shouldn't be converted using some encoding though TEXT should be. I couldn't find a place where the library asks about the actual data type comming from MySQL but adding a new field type and adding it to the conversion method doesn't do the trick. I guess this has to be fixed upstream. Bug#463734: python-epydoc: epydoc parses file in global path instead of local directory
Am Sonntag, 3. Februar 2008 schrieb Edward Loper: If a package is available globally to the system in addition to the version in the local directory epydoc seems to prefer the global file over the local in some occasions when building the package's API. What command line arguments are you using, and what directory are you executing it from? Also, try running epydoc with --parse-only, and running it with --introspect-only, to see if both parsing introspection are picking up the wrong copy, or just one of them. Out of convenience I'm setting these in the config file right now. Either way both parsing introspection will give me the same reponse as that my latest changes aren't reflected. I'm calling epydoc -v --config epydoc_config on the project's root source directory, where file AAA (see previous mail) lies in. File BBB lies beneath in a subdirectory. I had to comment out the subdirectory for the modules directive, as strangely enough I received an exception during building the API when either way one of parsing intospection is turned off. Though we might want to handle this seperately I'll append the error and the piece of code that generates it. The error generating file CCC lies in the subdirectory. Now thinks get a bit more interesting. When commenting out the variable definition in File CCC that gives me the error message I receive a different behaviour: having both pi turned on, the later changes are not reflected. Turning introspect off gives me the newest version, turning parsing off gives me the error on building. Funnily enough that gives me a different result compared to yesterday. Both BBB and CCC lie in the same subdirectory. Right now I can't reproduce the results from yesterday (for BBB). I did some changes to the code yesterday though. I'll append my config file too. Package: python-epydoc Version: 3.0~beta1-5 Severity: normal If a package is available globally to the system in addition to the version in the local directory epydoc seems to prefer the global file over the local in some occasions when building the package's API. I am working with some files on a local copy which are also installed as a packaged version in an older version. File AAA is installed under /usr/bin/AAA through the package and file BBB is installed under /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/*/BBB. Changes in files AAA and BBB do only show up for the latter file BBB in the generated API. Bug#438820: Same over here
Hi Ming Hua, from what I read I can only say I have the same symptoms over here for more than two years. See for example #405393, something what for me now can not be attributed to SKIM but rather to SCIM as I removed skim long time ago. Please tell me how I can support you by giving data. I'm using unstable, kde, scim as daemon, pinyin-input, locales: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=de_DE:de:en_GB:en LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8 ~$ set | grep XMODIFIERS [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~$ set | grep GTK_IM_MODULE GTK_IM_MODULE=xim Things that stop working often are: konsole, after 2-3 hours of work, kopete (kde messenger) after 20 - 60 minutes, Java apps after 15 minutes, kde screensaver 4 out of 5 times (Alt-F1 to console, kill kde-screensaver...). All these values are highly subjective. What helps is restarting the app in question. Funnily enough like said above is that system keys like alt-... and menu keys still work. SCIM will never stop talking keys (as long it can be started, as this key will be eaten as well). Why do I think it's SCIM? The problem startet after using it by default and nobody else I know not having SCIM installed has these problems. Again, i will thankfully supply data once you tell me what can help Christoph -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#461062: iso-codes: Old/incorrect documentation
Package: iso-codes Version: 1.8-1 Severity: minor First of all you have a typo in usr/share/doc/iso-codes/README.gz: The official IS0-639 maintenance agency should obviously spell ISO-639. Then for ISO-639-3 you still call it a draft, though it is officially out since summer last year. I suggest you update the whole ISO 639 part as now two (well three) authorities are active in ISO 639 development. Further more the changelog states: - Dec 17th 2007: added 'Pashto' as alternative for ps but the relevant file usr/share/xml/iso-codes/iso_639.xml still states: Status: ISO 639-2:1998 + additions and changes until 2007-08-08 Bug marked as minor as all of that is just missing consistency in the documentation. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22 (PREEMPT) Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#456950: soundkonverter: reportbug doesn't honour manual changes in the export path field
Am Dienstag, 18. I just realised that this behaviour isn't limited to the export path, but to all settings that can be made in the main window's simple tab pane. The pane says choose your output options then click 'add file' (translated from german). It seems that this behaviour is wanted. I still think this way of handling is very irritating. Bug#416951: File is lost during tagging
Package: picard Version: 0.7.2-2 Severity: grave --- Please enter the report below this line. --- While tagging several albums today a file was lost. I'll describe my actions in a chronological order: I tagged seven albums and clicked on save. The first album couldn't be saved due to wrong setting of write permissions. Then after writing the first 3 titles of the second album Picard was stuck for several minutes. While waiting for Picard to write more tags I used drag and drop to put the files of the first album back to the album, as Picard put them under files with errors (or whatever the english form is). After that I changed the option don't move file on writing tags (though I am not 100% sure if I didn't do it later after a restart). When Picard wouldn't write any more files I closed it using the menu (no kill). After that I realised a file was missing. It might be notable, that the filename contained a question mark '?', at least that's what locate is giving me. So neither the source name (original name) exists, nor the target name, to what Picard would've written it. So I must conclude that the file is gone. Package: apache2-mpm-prefork Version: 2.2.3-3.3 Followup-For: Bug #398817 I have a php script calling the Sablotron XSLT processor through sabcmd. If the processed xsl file is buggy (like some tag is not closed) sabcmd exits with an error message and makes apache shut down: [Mon Feb 19 23:49:22 2007] [notice] child pid 3357 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) [Mon Feb 19 23:49:23 2007] [notice] child pid 3358 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) [Mon Feb 19 23:49:55 2007] [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down I have php5 installed here. Bug#411290: wget: Errors in decoding url-encoded filenames in unicode
Package: wget Version: 1.10.2-2 Severity: important wget has problems decoding url-encoded filenames, if their original name is encoded in unicode (or at least has chinese characters in it). I started wget as wget -i filename and filename included more then 200 urls where each filename included a chinese character. In the end only 1/3 of the downloaded files where saved with the proper filename, the rest ended up looking like 8A%9B-order.gif where the url-encoded filename looked like %E5%8A%9B-order.gif and should've been saved as 力-order.gif Hence wget is unusable for this case. Bug#405393: Other weired occurrences
I deinstalled skim recently and the problem persists, now only running scim. It seems to occur less, but I have to wait a bit for a real evaluation. I ran across a website saying not to install skim in debian because of this bug, so other people don't seem to have this problem with scim (only skim). Well, actually it stoped right know and I have to type in another window and cut n paste that with my mouse. Christoph -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Hi, same problem over here. Most annoying Kopete and Konsole. I don't even blame skim for stopping keyboard input completly (though notably stopping when hitting return in konsole), but even eating keystrokes like ctrl-shift-XXX, XXX being a key that definitely worked before. This effect is even worse in Inkscape, and other non-KDE programs, Java-apps... Scrolling through hitting keys though still works, even if normal text can't be input any more. Bug#407587: reportbug doesn't warn on wrong package name
Package: reportbug Version: 3.31 Severity: minor reportbug doesn't check if package name exists. That way typos can occur and bother people who manualy have to assign the bug to the right project. See #407564 for an example. When reporting the bug mentioned above I didn't use the urwid interface. Don't know if that makes any difference. Bug#407564: mysql-server5.0: Unicode fails to work out of the box
Package: mysql-server5.0 Severity: normal mysql-server5.0 fails to work out of the box. Instead it uses latin1, something I'm not using on my system. Adding default-character-set=utf8 to [mysql] in /etc/mysql/my.cnf solves this problem. I don't know where mysql takes it's default character set from, if it is not specified, but the debian package should respect it's user's settings. Bug#334231: Same over here for more than a year
Hi, same over here. LC_CTYPE=zh_CN works, LC_CTYPE=de.UTF-8 does so, too, but LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8 really makes kaffeine stop starting. There is no output execpt 0 QLayout unnamed added to QWidget unnamed, which already has a layout . This has been like this for more than a year. Thanks for the hint with the locale. Wonder how to come to this solution. My whole locale setting looks like this: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=de_DE:de:en_GB:en LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8 HTH, Christoph Burgmer -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
