Bug#1063146: fai-setup-storage: New dependency on /usr/lib/fai/subroutines

2024-02-06 Thread Stephen Quinney
Actually it's worse than that. Even with the fai-client package
installed I cannot run fai-disk-info

With version 6.0 I get:

/usr/lib/fai/fai-disk-info
sda

with version 6.2 I get:

/usr/lib/fai/fai-disk-info
bash: set_bootstick: command not found
bash: once_only: command not found
bash: all_disks_and_size: command not found
bash: checkdisk: command not found

which in turn breaks the setup-storage utility.

Stephen Quinney

Bug#1063146: fai-setup-storage: New dependency on /usr/lib/fai/subroutines

2024-02-05 Thread Stephen Quinney
Package: fai-setup-storage
Version: 6.2
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: step...@jadevine.org.uk

We use the fai-setup-storage utility in a standalone way (i.e. not
with the rest of FAI) as part of our local installation and
configuration scripts. This has always worked perfectly up to version
6.0.

With the recent changes in 6.2 the fai-disk-info script now requires
/usr/lib/fai/subroutines which is in the fai-client package but there
is no dependency declared. If the fai-client package is not installed
setup-storage will now completely fail to run.

Dear Maintainer,

A new version of xrdp - 0.9.23 - was released on 2023/08/31 which
contains an important security fix for CVE-2023-40184: "Improper
handling of session establishment errors allows bypassing OS-level
session restrictions". I just wanted to check, will this be available
in unstable soon and backported to stable?

Thanks for your work on maintaining the xrdp package, it's much
appreciated!

Bug#951649: iputils: #457059

2020-02-19 Thread Stephen Quinney
Source: iputils
Version: 3:20190709-2

Dear Maintainer,

I was really surprised to find that the rdisc daemon is not provided
in a package for Debian. I'm currently working on moving hundreds of
machines over to Debian from a different distro and we rely on
rdisc. Is there any technical or legal reason why the rdisc daemon
couldn't be shipped in a package?

Attached is a patch which enables the building of rdisc and puts it
into an iputils-rdisc package along with the associated man page and
systemd service file. Note that I had to bump the debian/compat level
to 10 for dh_installsystemd to do the right thing with the postinst,
postrm and prerm scripts.

Bug#891083: remmina: Fails to save connection details

2018-02-22 Thread Stephen Quinney
Package: remmina
Version: 1.2.0-rcgit.27+dfsg-3
Severity: important

I just installed the latest version for the first time on this device
so there are no previous configuration files. I click on the '+' to
add a new RDP connection and fill in all the details. I click on any
of the 'Save', 'Save as Default' or 'Save and Connect' buttons (I've
tried all of them) and nothing gets saved. After the attempt to save
there are still no config files or directories in my home directory
and nothing appears in the main list of connections. I've had this
working with previous versions on other devices so I'm pretty sure I'm
not doing anything unusual here...

 Hello,

 The problem is in the call of unpatched Makefile.PL in debclean. I
 propose this patch to fix the issue. BTW, it also cleans some build
 leftovers which are not removed by upstream Makefile.

 Cheers,

Thanks for the bug report, I was not previously aware of the problem.

This appears to be caused by a bug introduced into libdbd-sqlite3-perl
version 1.13. If you have access to rt.cpan.org you can see the
details at:

https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=21406
https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=21472

Hopefully there will be a fixed version available soon.

Bug#388656: Misleading documentation

2006-09-21 Thread Stephen Quinney
Package: libcatalyst-perl
Version: 5.7002-1
Severity: minor

Thanks for packaging Catalyst, it's much appreciated, I am just having
a first attempt at using it for a real project.

The synopsis of the documentation I see when I do perldoc Catalyst
is misleading, in one bit it says:

 # add models, views, controllers
 script/myapp_create.pl model Database DBIC::SchemaLoader dbi:SQLite:/path/to/db

I think it is possibly rather out-of-date as the myapp_create.pl
appears to need more command line arguments now and putting
DBIC::SchemaLoader just causes an error. Looking at
Catalyst::Manual::Intro suggests that it should actually be along the
lines of this:

 script/myapp_create.pl model Database DBIC::Schema MySchema create=static
'dbi:SQLite:/path/to/db'

Cheers,

 dmachinemon Build-Depends upon doc++.  doc++ has been
 replaced by Doxygen for quite some time, and is no longer
 maintained. It will now no longer build from source (see
 #292337).

 Please could you update the package to use Doxygen instead?
 I have attached example patches to bug #307554, which should
 be useful as a guide to fixing this. The paths and names
 will need a little tweaking.

 The example configuration file isn't optimised for C, but
 turning off the class diagrams and enabling the optimise
 output for C option should correct this.

There are currently no outstanding RC bugs for doc++ and the version
of dmachinemon in unstable/sid builds fine for me on i386 without any
modifications. Are you happy for me to close this bug report?

Thanks,

It is currently in quite a bad state so I would like to see something

Bug#366551: O: request-tracker3.4 -- Extensible trouble-ticket tracking system

2006-05-09 Thread Stephen Quinney
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I've been mostly ignoring request-tracker3.4 for a while as I am
hardly using it now and I no longer have the necessary time to spend
on the package maintenance so I have orphaned the request-tracker3.4
package.

If you are interested in taking up the maintainership of this package
I would recommend that you first discuss it on debian-perl, there's a
good chance others will be interested in some form of team.

Stephen Quinney

The package description is:
 Request Tracker (RT) is an enterprise-grade ticketing system which
 enables a group of people to intelligently and efficiently manage
 tasks, issues, and requests submitted by a community of users. It
 features a web, email and command-line interfaces (see the package
 rt3.4-clients).
 .
 This is the 3.4 series of RT, it can be installed alongside the 3.0
 and 3.2 series without any problems. This release is a big
 improvement over previous versions and features many new features,
 substantial performance improvements and a significant cleanup and
 restructuring of the codebase.
 .
 Written in object-oriented Perl, RT is a high-level, portable,
 platform independent system that eases collaboration within
 organizations and makes it easy for them to take care of their
 customers.
 .
 RT manages key tasks such as the identification, prioritization,
 assignment, resolution and notification required by
 enterprise-critical applications including project management, help
 desk, NOC ticketing, CRM and software development.

Bug#350093: libfinance-quote-perl: binary-indep files in /usr/lib

2006-01-27 Thread Stephen Quinney
Package: libfinance-quote-perl
Version: 1.08-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Violates perl policy

The libfinance-quote-perl package is installing binary-independent
files into /usr/lib when it should actually put them into
/usr/share. For information on how to build perl packages that conform
with policy please see the Debian perl policy document at:

http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/perl-policy/

When building a package you can use lintian to help spot errors like this.

Also the package has this line in the debian/control:

Architecture: any

which is incorrect, I think the further line specifying 'all' might be
working as an override but this is probably not reliable behaviour.

I notice you have not updated this package since July 2003. Having
looked through the current list of bugs, especially requests for new
upstream versions to fix important bugs, I would ask you to seriously
consider whether you are still interested in maintaining this
package. If not then please orphan the package so someone else can
take it on. Details of orphaning packages can be found at:

http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/ch-pkgs.en.html#s-orphaning

Bug#344018: libuniversal-exports-perl: contains UNIVERSAL::require, which breaks on sarge dpkg

 libuniversal-exports-perl still contains UNIVERSAL::require, and
 relies on libuniversal-require-perl's Replaces relation to shift the
 files where they belong. Unfortunately this doesn't work with the
 version of dpkg in sarge, so it's going to fail upgrades. You could
 fiddle around with Conflicts/Depends or something... but the simplest
 solution is to stop shipping the old files in
 libuniversal-exports-perl.

Thanks for reminding me about this. It had originally been my
intention to make this change to the libuniversal-exports-perl package
but it had slipped my mind.

 This string is the one that Zile outputs in term_close in term_ncurses.c
 to reset the Meta key in an xterm. It only happens if TERM=xterm. Which
 terminal emulator are you using? I'm guessing it's something that claims
 to be xterm but doesn't understand this sequence...sigh...

 I don't get this problem in (u)xterm, nor in the Linux console, where of
 course the string is not printed. The string is prefixed by \033.

I am using gnome-terminal (version 2.10.0-3), the TERM variable is set
to xterm.

Bug#335181: uscan: Allow setting of LWP timeout

Package: devscripts

I have been encountering problems lately with www.cpan.org as it often
takes a very long time to respond (it always get there in the end
though). The hard-wired default timeout for uscan of 20 seconds often
is not sufficient. I have written a patch for uscan which allows the
LWP timeout to be specified from the command line or a config file. I
would be most grateful if you would consider it for inclusion.

Yes, this seems to have been a peculiar choice made by one of my

thought there must be some good reason. I shall upload a modified

Bug#333309: ITP: libuniversal-require-perl -- require modules from a variable

2005-10-11 Thread Stephen Quinney
Package: wnpp

  Version : 0.10
  Upstream Author : Michael G Schwern [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/~mschwern/UNIVERSAL-require-0.10/
* License : GPL (= 1) or Perl Artistic
  Description : require modules from a variable

 If you've ever had to do this...
 .
eval require $module;
 .
 to get around the bareword caveats on require(), this module is for
 you. It creates a universal require() class method that will work
 with every Perl module and its secure. So instead of doing some
 arcane eval() work, you can do this:
 .
$module-require;
 .
 It doesn't save you much typing, but it'll make alot more sense to
 someone who's not a ninth level Perl acolyte.
 .
 Also provided is a use() method which works in a similar way.

NOTE

This used to be provided as part of the libuniversal-exports-perl
package but upstream has now decided to split it out. Most people were
installing libuniversal-exports-perl just to get at the functionality
of libuniversal-require-perl.

The version in Sarge will only receive security fixes now so you will
need to patch this yourself.

I recommend copying the file
/usr/share/request-tracker3.4/lib/RT/Action/SendEmail.pm into
/usr/local/share/request-tracker3.4/lib/RT/Action/SendEmail.pm and
making the correction there. Any changes made there will be preserved
between package upgrades, when, for instance, there is a security bug
fix at some future date.

I hope that helps,

Thanks for the bug report, I have reported this upstream. The bug

 Hello,

 3.0.8 is on CPAN. Please update your package.

I am already aware of the new versions of Class::DBI and keeping up
with development on the module.

If you had read the notes in this package about the new release
strategy you would note that minor revision numbers are considered
'unstable' releases and may contain changes that are later
reverted. See ELEASE PHILOSOPHY in the upstream README.

I'm not convinced that subjecting Debian users to possible quickly
varying APIs is a good idea, even if it is for sid and etch only right
now.

According to the upstream strategy 3.1.0 will be the next stable
release and I am planning to upload that package.

I could upload 3.0.0 but as that is identical to the current version
in Debian (except for version number, of course) I see little point.

This strongly suggests to me that you are using a locally
compiled/installed version of Perl and not the one shipped as part of
Debian (that would be in /usr/lib/perl and /usr/share/perl). With this
in mind I am not sure I am going to be able to help you very much as
the problem could just as easily be in the perl as in my
request-tracker3.4 package.

I recommend you run request-tracker3.4 (and all Debian perl packages
for that matter) with the version of perl shipped with Debian and see
if that fixes your problems. If nothing else this will provide an
upgrade from the 5.8.2 version you are using to the 5.8.7 which comes
with testing/etch. We do depend on a version of perl (= 5.8.3) for a
good reason, ignoring dependency lists is going to result in all sorts
of trouble for you.

 I find that there is indeed no variable comp_root_array, but that
 this has become a local variable in one of the remaining

 behind the back of RT...

This problem is caused entirely by the latest version of the
libhtml-mason-perl package that is in sid. The only way to resolve it
right now is to grab the previous version from snapshot.debian.net and
downgrade.

I would recommend that you move to request-tracker3.4 anyway as we are
going to remove the request-tracker3.0 package from sid and etch

 Ugh...

This is what comes from tracking an unstable version of Debian at a
particularly unstable time. The mod_perl2 API change has caused all
sorts of problems like this and it will take time for things to
settle.

  I would recommend that you move to request-tracker3.4 anyway as we are

 Yes, although your remarks in the READMEs pertaining to alpha or beta
 quality made me a bit nervous, I just tried to migrate and lost all
 history in the process. I've also already seen another bug that
 mentions this and see if I can fix it.

Yeah, I need to change that. RT3.4 is now sufficiently stable that we
feel happy to get rid of 3.0 and recommend 3.4 to everyone.

I'm very surprised you lost history, a standard request-tracker3.0
install should upgrade fine to request-tracker3.4 when following the
instructions in the README.Debian. The only problems I've seen were
related to using mysql without innodb support (that is essential) or
postgresql 7.2 (it needs a minimum of 7.4 to perform the upgrade I
found recently).

The first thing I can suggest doing is removing any files (not
directories) in the /var/cache/request-tracker3/ directory and
restarting apache. Also check for any stray local modifications in
/usr/local/share/request-tracker3/. If this doesn't help then I
suspect there are problems (or incompatibilities) between rt3 and the

The reportbug output above suggests that you might have some locally
modified versions of files in
/usr/local/share/request-tracker3.4/. The test is in no way 100%
reliable (you might not have a /usr/local at all, for instance). If
this is the case you should check that your locally modified files are
in sync with the current RT3.4 API.

Bug#318374: request-tracker3.4: When clicking on Tickets link the url /Search/Listing.html cannot be found

 mystery to me.

By default there are only two places which the Debian
request-tracker3.4 package will look for files
/usr/share/request-tracker3.4 and /usr/local/share/request-tracker3.4.

The only other thing that I can think of that could be occurring is
that you are getting a cached version of one of the Mason
templates. Try deleting any files (not the directories though) in
/var/cache/request-tracker3.4/ and restarting your apache server.

If this doesn't help I'm afraid I am at a total loss as to where this
link is coming from, it definitely doesn't appear in the standard
package as far as I can see.

Bug#318079: libmail-cclient-perl: Does not work with GSSAPI auth

2005-07-13 Thread Stephen Quinney
Package: libmail-cclient-perl
Version: 1.12-2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Between upstream versions 1.10 and 1.11 the bootstrap code in
Cclient.xs was altered to surround the #include linkage.c with an
#ifdef, #else block:

#if HAVE_IMAP_LINKAGE
 #include linkage.c
#else

Sensible defaults are offered in the else-block but crucially for me
these defaults do not contain the line:

auth_link (auth_gss);/* link in the gss authenticator */

which is in linkage.c. This means that although Mail::Cclient is
compiled against the krb5 libraries it will never attempt GSSAPI
authentication even if the credentials are correct and it is offered
by the imap server.

This problem can be solved by passing in the correct option as part of
the DEB_MAKEMAKER_USER_FLAGS. The patch is as follows:

# --8--- patch starts ---

# --8--- patch ends ---

The --with-cclient-includes option maps into $IMAP_DIR which in turn
makes the HAVE_IMAP_LINKAGE definition be true.

Alternatively, of course, the Cclient.xs file can be patched to add the
missing line into the list of defaults.

I've tested the patch above and it all works fine.

Thanks,

 Well, that version is a developer release only so it might be
 broken. I am not sure why the Debian maintainer thought that would be
 appropriate for upload.

I've contacted the libhtml-mason-perl maintainer and he told me that
the developer release was uploaded because it provides new
apache2/mod_perl2 support.

 No biggy... I backed out to testing distribution on both the
 libhtml-mason-perl and the request-tracker3 packages... the more I look
 at it the mason package really might be the problem... apache couldn't
 find component root... anyways... I'm no programmer I just dabble a
 little. :-)

The request-tracker3 is the same in etch/testing and sid/unstable so
it looks like libhtml-mason-perl is causing the problem.

You didn't say which method you were using to deploy rt3. Are you
using fastcgi, mod_perl2 or speedycgi? There is a big issue that the
version of request-tracker3 does not work with the latest mod_perl2 so
that should be avoided in etch/testing and sid/unstable. Personally
I'd recommend fastcgi.

You should also be aware that request-tracker3 will soon be removed
from etch and sid as it is now rather out-of-date. I would recommend
that you move to request-tracker3.4 as soon as possible. If that is
not an option the package will, of course, remain in sarge/stable (but
that is security support only).

Bug#312514: postgresql: Postgres user .profile no longer correct

2005-06-08 Thread Stephen Quinney
Package: postgresql
Version: 7.5.4
Severity: normal

Since updating to the new postgresql packages last night and also
installing postgresql 8, when I su to the postgres user I now get the
following error:

jupiter:~# su - postgres
-su: /etc/postgresql/postmaster.conf: No such file or directory

This is caused by a .profile in the homedir of the postgres user which
contains:

. /etc/postgresql/postmaster.conf
PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/lib/postgresql/bin
POSTGRES_DATA=/var/lib/postgres/data
PGDATA=${POSTGRES_DATA:-/var/lib/postgres/data}
PGLIB=/usr/lib/postgresql/lib
export PGLIB PGDATA

Now that the packages have moved to a different directory layout all
of this is basically incorrect. I'm not sure how important it is to
set these variables or how I would go about setting them correctly
depending on the version of the database to which I wanted to talk.

Thanks,

 If apt-get is too stupid to resolve dependencies correctly, then it
 appears aptitude suffers from the same problem.

 I believe the problem stems from:
 liblog-dispatch-perl (= 2.0), libapache-mod-perl |
 libapache-mod-speedycgi | libcgi-fast-perl, libmailtools-perl (= 1.57)

 If you'll note, right after liblog-dispatch-perl, you have a
 requirement for libapache-mod-perl | libapache-mod-speedycgi |
 libcgi-fast-perl, with no alternatives for apache2 packages.

There's no problem with that particular set of alternative
dependencies as far as I can see. There is only one method of using
the request-tracker3.4 package with apache2 and that is to use
libapache2-mod-fastcgi which requires the package libcgi-fast-perl to
be installed.

 ).

 Am I misunderstanding the dependency requirements? It looks as if
 libapache2-mod-fastcgi needs to be added - or am I wrong?

The dependencies for request-tracker3.4 are complex and cannot be
expressed in one single statement. There are at least two relevant
here:

libapache-mod-perl | libapache-mod-speedycgi | libapache-mod-fastcgi |
libapache2-mod-fastcgi

libapache-mod-perl | libapache-mod-speedycgi | libcgi-fast-perl

So, taking the two statements:

(A | B | C | D)  (A | B | E)

We could, if the Debian dependency spec allowed us, rewrite this as:

A | B | (C  E) | (D  E)

It is not the case that libapache2-mod-fastcgi directly depends on
libcgi-fast-perl. If that were the case I would not need to specify it
myself as it would be in the dependency list for the
libapache2-mod-fastcgi package itself. It is that the perl in
request-tracker3.4 needs libcgi-fast-perl in order to communicate with
libapache2-mod-fastcgi (or libapache-mod-fastcgi).

I hope that provides some enlightenment,

The request-tracker3.4 package has very complex dependencies. You will
not be able to resolve these fully by just using apt-get. You need to
use a tool such as aptitude or dselect to choose the exact system you
want. apt-get is fairly dumb when it comes to alternative dependencies
and just chooses the first in the list which in this case is the
apache1 and libapache-mod-perl packages.

You should also note that as of version 3.4.2-2 request-tracker3.4
does not support mod_perl2. The version of mod_perl2 that is in
Sid/unstable has just undergone a huge API change which
request-tracker3.4 does not support right now. If you want to use
apache2 you will need to use libapache2-mod-fastcgi.

 Hi,

 by default, header 'Content-Transfer-Encoding' is '8-bit', wich makes some MUA
 (mostly webmail as afar as i've seen) to not display message correctly.

 using 'Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit' fixes the problem.

This is fixed in the newer upstream version of request-tracker3.4

I will merge the bugs, I don't have much hope of seeing this fixed in

 I'm not a Debian Policy specialist, but this package can not be considered
 usable with this bug. Can i do something to encourage the upload in Sarge ?

This does not seem to be a bug that affects everyone so the most
appropriate severity level is important - that is defined as a bug
which has a major effect on the usability of a package, without
rendering it completely unusable to everyone.

I am not able to do an upload to Sarge now, that is the definition of
deep freeze. The Debian systems prevent me from making the change.

As it is a very simple change to fix your problem. I recommend copying
the file /usr/share/request-tracker3.4/lib/RT/Action/SendEmail.pm into
/usr/local/share/request-tracker3.4/lib/RT/Action/SendEmail.pm and
making the correction there. Any changes made there will be preserved
between package upgrades, when, for instance, there is a security bug
fix at some future date.

Bug#309458: request-tracker3.4 should depend on libxml-simple-perl and libdbd-pg-perl

2005-05-17 Thread Stephen Quinney
Hi there,

Thanks for the bug report.

On Tue, May 17, 2005 at 02:11:07PM +0200, Ramon Acedo wrote:

Well, I agree that it should depend upon libxml-simple-perl. It is,
however, up to you to install the correct dbd module. The package
already specifies a dependency on libdbd-pg-perl | libdbd-mysql-perl
(= 2.1018) | libdbd-informix-perl | libdbd-sqlite2-perl |
libdbd-sqlite3-perl. You are expected to ensure you have installed a
suitable driver so you can talk to your database.

I will upload a new version to sid/unstable today with the extra
libxml-simple-perl dependency.

On a separate note, I notice also that it appears you have edited some
files in the /usr/share/request-tracker3.4/html/ directory. See below:

 -- Package-specific info:
 Changed files:
   etc/request-tracker3.4/RT_SiteConfig.pm
   usr/share/request-tracker3.4/html/Elements/Footer
   usr/share/request-tracker3.4/html/Elements/Header
   usr/share/request-tracker3.4/html/NoAuth/webrt.css

You should be aware that these local changes will _not_ be preserved
between upgrades. If you want to make changes you should copy the
relevant files from /usr/share/request-tracker3.4/html/ into
/usr/local/share/request-tracker3.4/html/ and make your changes there.

 It's with mod_perl2. Could you at least try to reproduce it, so I know if
 it's specific to my machine or not? Simply swapping prefork for worker with
 the same config triggers it here (aptitude install apache2-mpm-worker).

Sorry for the delay, I finally managed to get hold of a Sarge box to
test this on. I can reproduce the problem with apache2-mpm-worker, it
flattens my machine for about 3 minutes while it starts up. It seems
to be terrible in responding to requests after that as well. It does
appear to be related to RT as starting up apache2 without that
included works fine.

I'm still not sure where to start with actually debugging the cause
though. I'll report it to upstream at least and see what they say.

 Should this perhaps be elevated to RC? If not, it should definitely be
 documented in the package (ie.: use prefork or fastcgi).

Well, this doesn't help you at all but we don't support mod_perl2 in
Sid/unstable anymore and I'm expecting that Sarge will be the same

 Hm, that's a bit unfortunate, but OK. (Is this a permanent change for sid,
 or something transient during the API change?)

The mod_perl2 support will return to Sid/unstable in due course when
upstream catches up with the new API. Sarge will ship without support

 This happens on both start and restart.

This is not a bug, it was done this way by design. The file
RT_SiteConfig.pm contains, at least, the username and password for the
RT database so it is preferable that only root can read it. If you
want to make this file readable by other users (such as www-data for
running in cgi mode) then you have to do so yourself.

It is done this way so that the sysadmin knows that the database
access parameters are readable by other users. For instance, if you
have php installed on the system anyone running a php script could
read the database access details if the file is readable by www-data.

We give full instructions as to how to install and configure RT in the
files /usr/share/doc/request-tracker3.4/README.Debian and
/usr/share/doc/request-tracker3.4/INSTALL.Debian. These instructions
are all based on being run as root.

I hope that clarifies things,

 This is an Apache mod_perl (1.0 and 2.0) module that helps session
 management of a web application. This module is a wrapper around
 Apache::Session persistence framework for session data. It creates a
 session object and makes it available to all other handlers

 Hi!

 The maintainer of libdbd-sqlite-perl asked for its removal in #305604. Your
 package does build-time tests using this module, so would fail to build once
 this removal is propagated.

 Two newer versions of the sqlite perl module are available, I suggest you use
 either of those instead.

 By the way, kudo's for doing build-time tests, they are IMHO an important way
 of doing good QA on your package. (Just curious, why are not failing the build
 if the tests fail?)

Thanks for these reports, they are much appreciated. I will be
uploading fixed packages shortly. The reason they don't fail is because
the upstream test scripts first test for existence of the correct
library and exit without error if they are not there.

Bug#305526: libyaml-perl: Bug in either code or pod docs

2005-04-20 Thread Stephen Quinney
Package: libyaml-perl
Version: 0.38-2
Severity: normal

According to the manpage:

use YAML qw(Dump Bless);
$hash = {apple = 'good', banana = 'bad', cauliflower = 'ugly'};
print Dump $hash;
Bless($hash)-keys(['banana', 'apple']);
print Dump $hash;

produces:

--- #YAML:1.0
apple: good
banana: bad
cauliflower: ugly
--- #YAML:1.0
banana: bad
apple: good

but in fact the code does not do this, it produces instead:

---
apple: good
banana: bad
cauliflower: ugly
---
banana: bad
apple: good

I certainly expected the module to add the version strings (as did
some tests in a different module that I was building. It seems that at
some point this behaviour has changed. Looking at the code I see, on
line 254 of YAML.pm, in the subroutine _emit_header():

if ($o-{UseVersion}) {
# $o-{stream} .=  #YAML:1.0;
}

I was slightly surprised at this but willing to accept it if this is
now considered correct behaviour. In that case it would be nice if the
pod for the module could be updated to reflect the fact.

Thanks,

Stephen Quinney

Bug#304752: libapache2-request-perl: Fails to load: httpd must load mod_apreq.so first

2005-04-15 Thread Stephen Quinney
Package: libapache2-request-perl
Version: 2.04-dev-1
Severity: normal

Well, maybe this isn't a bug but it is starting to look like one to
me. I have tried every order of loading Apache::Request with
Apache::RequestRec but I just cannot get the server to start
successfully. I always get the error:

[Fri Apr 15 09:10:05 2005] [error] Apache::Request: httpd must load
mod_apreq.so first at /usr/lib/perl5/Apache2/Apache/Request.pm line

failed--compilation aborted at /usr/share/maillist/startup.pl line
17.\nCompilation failed in require at (eval 3) line 1.\n

I even tried loading all the standard Apache2 modules I need with
use then doing a require on Apache::Request so it would definitely
load last. The script all works fine without Apache::Request,
currently I'm using the CGI module but it would be nice to not have to
load all that stuff.

The code that is throwing the error is:

if ($ENV{MOD_PERL}) {
require mod_perl;
my $env = __PACKAGE__-env || '';
if ($mod_perl::VERSION  1.99) {
die __PACKAGE__ . : httpd must load mod_apreq.so first
if $env ne Apache::RequestRec;
}
else {
die Unsupported mod_perl version number: $modperl::VERSION;
}
}

I got it to print out the $env and it contained APR::Pool which
obviously leads to the error, not sure how to get around this though.

Thanks in advance,

Stephen Quinney

I guess it depends on the purpose of the rewrite and also are you

 What is the serious bug?

RT3.4 makes use of the new features in the more recent versions of
DBIx::SearchBuilder. The two have tended to be developed together so
when Jesse says use this version of DBIx::SearchBuilder he normally
means it seriously.

 Looking at info of rt3.4 I saw it conflicts with earlier rt3.2 packages.
 I ended up upgrading to the latest 3.2 and reapplying my changes, which
 allowed me to install rt3.4.

 Still not sure why this conflict exists.

The request-tracker3.4 package conflicts with earlier versions of
request-tracker3.2 because both packages wanted to install the same
file (and that is definitely a bad thing). This was due to an
oversight on my part and is now fixed via the normal alternatives
handling system that is used in all my RT packages. The only way to
prevent bad things happening on install of the request-tracker3.4
package was to declare a conflict on request-tracker3.2 versions less
than 3.2.2-3.
