Bug#653217: roundcube-core: syntax error in sqlite DB upgrade file

2011-12-25 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: roundcube
Version: 0.7-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

/usr/share/dbconfig-common/data/roundcube/upgrade/sqlite/0.7-1 is buggy:

  dbconfig-common: writing config to /etc/dbconfig-common/roundcube.conf
  Replacing config file /etc/roundcube/debian-db.php with new version
  creating database backup in
/var/cache/dbconfig-common/backups/roundcube_0.6+dfsg-1.sqlite.
  applying upgrade sql for 0.6+dfsg-1 - 0.7-1.
  CREATE UNIQUE INDEX ix_searches_user_type_name (user_id, type, name);
  SQL error: near (: syntax error

It's lacking the ON table part of the CREATE INDEX statement, isn't it?

Bug#653009: every firmware postrm scripts deletes files that were not installed by the package

2011-12-22 Thread intrigeri+debian
Source: b43-fwcutter
Version: 1:015-11
Severity: grave
Justification: breaks unrelated software

All three firmware-b43*.postrm run rm -rf /lib/firmware/b43 at purge
and remove time, i.e. every such postrm script shipped by one of the
firmware installer binary packages deletes files that were *not*
installed by that package.

Meta: I think this bug deserves priority critical since it breaks
unrelated software. I'll let you reclassify if you feel like it.

(BTW, it seems to me the tag for 1:015-11 was not pushed in Git.)

Thank you for maintaining this package in Debian.

Bug#652915: xul-ext-cookie-monster: unusable with iceweasel 9

2011-12-21 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: xul-ext-cookie-monster
Version: 1.1.0-3
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream, patch

Hi,

xul-ext-cookie-monster Breaks: iceweasel (= 8.+).
iceweasel 9 landed into unstable.
Therefore, Cookie Monster is currently not usable at all in an
up-to-date Debian unstable system.

This is how I got a package that Works For Me™:

  * Patch install.rdf to set maxVersion to 9.*.
  * Rebuild to update ${xpi:Breaks}.

The attached (Git) patch series implement this (yeah, the version is wrong).
This should obviously be reported upstream but I'll let you do this part.

Cheers,

Bug#650083: firmware-b43legacy-installer: never downloads nor installs any firmware

2011-11-26 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: firmware-b43legacy-installer
Version: 1:015-7
Severity: grave

Hi,

as far as I can tell, downloading and installing firmwares would be
done by the latest_firmware() function in the postinst file. However,
it seems to me that function is never called at all.

By the way, a nice fix to this bug would probably steal the chroot
autodetection code from firmware-b43-installer.postinst to
unconditionally fetch and install the firmware in case a chroot is
detected (e.g. at Live CD build time).

Bug#650099: firmware-b43legacy-installer: should unconditionally install firmwares when installed in chroot

2011-11-26 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: firmware-b43legacy-installer
Version: 1:015-8
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

The addition of chroot-supporting code in -8 was welcome, but it
misses the point.

The idea is to unconditionally install the firmwares when a chroot
environment is detected, skipping verification of the presence of
a supported chip, just like every other firmware*.postinst script in
this source package does.

The attached patch makes firmware-b43legacy-installer.postinst act
consistently with the other firmware-*-installer binary packages from
this source package.

Bug#650103: firmware-b43legacy-installer: buggy script makes supported chips appear as unsupported

2011-11-26 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: firmware-b43legacy-installer
Version: 1:015-8
Severity: grave

Commit da45837 turns the previous list-of-or'd tests (separated with
||) into a pipeline (separated with |), supposedly to fix if
statement syntax. No idea what was wrong with the previous syntax.

Anyway, this simple test case should make things clear enough:

  $ true | false
  $ echo $?
  1

  $ false | true
  $ echo $?
  0

The practical result of this change is: only the device id tested last
in the pipeline (i.e. 4325) is considered to be supported.

I suggest simply reverting that commit.

Bug#649731: msva-perl: SOCKS proxy option for hkpms:// is unusable

2011-11-23 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: msva-perl
Version: 0.8-2
Severity: normal

Hi Daniel,

In short: if libio-socket-inet6-perl is installed, hkpms:// + a SOCKS
proxy defined using keyserver-options and http-proxy=socks:// does
not work.

That old conflict between libio-socket-inet6-perl and hkpms:// used
with a SOCKS proxy has been long known (I reported it as a side bug on
https://labs.riseup.net/code/issues/2677, which is now closed for good
reasons).

But well, at some point I feel this issue must be properly documented
somewhere on the msva-perl radar, especially because it's getting hard
to workaround the bug: in testing/sid, msva-perl fetches
libnet-server-perl, which now depends on libio-socket-inet6-perl.

I reported #607674 against libio-socket-inet6-perl some time ago, and
will mark this new bug as blocked by that old one once I get the
new number.

Known workaround: install Squeeze's libnet-server-perl, which did not
depend on libio-socket-inet6-perl, and deinstall the latter.

Details:

  - gpg.conf reads:
keyserver-options http-proxy=socks://127.0.0.1:9050
keyserver hkpms://keys.mayfirst.org
  - exact error messages were reported on #607674 already.
Tried again, still correct, unfortunately.

Cheers!

Bug#649179: fs2ram: unable to keep structure of files whose uid or gid is unknown

2011-11-18 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: fs2ram
Version: 0.3.10
Severity: important

Hi,

when asked to keep_folder_structure of a directory that contains
files/directories whose owner's uid or gid is unknown to the system,
fs2ram stores lines such as chown UNKNOWN in its mountscript.

Such a mountscript obviously does not work at mount time; this loses
information about the folder structure. I call this data loss, hence
the severity greater than normal.

This is likely due to the use of non-numeric stat format sequences
such as %U and %G. I suggest using %u and %g instead.

Bug#648868: cryptsetup: Please add support for allow-discards option in crypttab

Hi,

cryptsetup 1.4.0 brings support for --allow-discards, which is useful
on SSD storage devices, although it comes with security risks that

crypttab, that translates into passing --allow-discards to cryptsetup.
This patch also updates the documentation accordingly. Please review.

(I'll mark this bug as blocked by #647851 as soon as I get its number.)

Bug#648066: libpam-mount: Makes sudo return non-zero exit code on success

2011-11-08 Thread intrigeri+debian

sudo: pam_mount.c:417: modify_pm_count: Assertion `user != ((void *)0)' failed.
zsh: abort  sudo /bin/echo bla

This breaks any script that contains things like

This happens since I've upgraded to sudo 1.8.3p1-1 that includes
the common-session-noninteractive config.

Setting Session-Interactive-Only: yes in

Bug#647956: stopmotion: Cannot add image file whose filename contains non-ASCII chars

2011-11-07 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: stopmotion
Version: 0.6.2-1.1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

$ sudo apt-get install live-build
$ cp /usr/share/live/build/includes/squeeze/install/pics/debian.jpg
/tmp/test-é.jpg
$ stopmotion

Click the Add picture button.
Select /tmp/test-é.jpg.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

You don't have permission to read that file.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Adding this picture to stopmotion UI.

Please note that this *does* work:

$ sudo apt-get install live-build
$ cp /usr/share/live/build/includes/squeeze/install/pics/debian.jpg
/tmp/test.jpg
$ stopmotion

Click the Add picture button.
Select /tmp/test.jpg.

This might be related to #646871, but contrary to what Jean-Michel
reports, in my case nothing is sent to STDOUT, hence this new
bug report.

Cheers,

Bug#642803: libmouse-perl: test suite failure on ia64 causes FTBFS

2011-09-25 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: libmouse-perl
Version: 0.93-1
Severity: important

Hi,

Mouse test suite sometimes fails on the ia64 architecture, causing the
whole package to fail to build from source.

Relevant buildd output:

#   Failed test at t/001_mouse/043-parameterized-type.t line 244.
# Looks like you failed 1 test of 66.

Failed build reports that expose this problem, that happened from time
to time for a while:

Note that the very same buildd that exposed this problem recently
succeeded in building 0.91-1+b1, which has the same test suite
= this test suite failure does not seems to happen every time.
Too bad CPAN Testers is currently down.

The failing test was introduced in 0.82, which accounts for the
failure not happening on previous versions.

Dear pkg-perl,

$RE{net}{domain} does not allow domains that start with digits.

Such domains do exist (e.g. 3.dk or 3com.com).

{
  This makes $RE{net}{domain} mostly unusable in the real world in 2011,
  this will make me doubt when advising Perl beginners to use R::C,
  so I wonder why I refrain from setting this bug normal.
}

A trivial patch has been sitting in upstream bug tracker since 2006:
https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=23626
Upstream did not comment in 5 years and ended up downgrading the bug
severity to wishlist a few months ago :/

What do you think about applying the patch in Debian, and/or using the
pkg-perl team super-powers to gently ask upstream about it?

Hi!

Now that Tor 0.2.2.x has reached unstable, some tricks applied to the
Vidalia 0.3.x packages in experimental can be applied to the Vidalia
0.2.x packages in unstable for great user experience improvements; I'm
especially thinking of:

   * Apply local patch for using 'Control Socket' by default.
 This will allow users to use Tor with zero conf (adopt wicd's
  debconf scripts to add Vidalia users into Tor's group).
   * Depend on Tor's version firstly introducing Control Socket for
 handling the interaction completely out-of-the-box.

  Description : Metadata anonymising toolkit

 Metadata consist of information that characterizes data. Metadata are
 used to provide documentation for data products. In essence, metadata
 answer who, what, when, where, why, and how about every facet of the
 data that are being documented.
 .
 Metadata within a file can tell a lot about you. Cameras record data
 about when a picture was taken and what camera was used. Office
 documents like pdf or Office automatically adds author and company
 information to documents and spreadsheets.
 .
 Maybe you don't want to disclose those information on the web.
 .
 Mat only remove metadata from your files, it does not anonymise their
 content, nor it can handle watermarking, steganography, or any too
 custom metadata field/system.
 .
 If you really want to be anonym, use format that does not contain any
 metadata, or better: use plain-text.

Bug#638185: secure-delete: sfill does not wipe more than the max. file size supported by the underlying filesystem

sfill works by creating a .ooo file as big as possible in
the specified directory. Hence, it does not wipe more than the maximum
file size supported by the underlying filesystem.

Practically speaking, on a vfat filesystem with more that 4G free

Bug#626380: ITP: onioncat -- IP-Transparent Tor Hidden Service Connector

2011-05-11 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: wnpp
Owner: intrigeri+deb...@boum.org
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: onioncat
  Version : 0.2.2
  Upstream Author : Bernhard R. Fischer ra...@cypherpunk.at
* URL or Web page : http://www.cypherpunk.at/onioncat/
* License : GPL-3
  Description : IP-Transparent Tor Hidden Service Connector

  OnionCat creates a transparent IP layer on top of Tor's hidden services. It
  transmits any kind of IP-based data transparently through the Tor network on a
  location hidden basis. You can think of it as a point-to-multipoint VPN
between
  hidden services.

  OnionCat is a stand-alone application which runs in userland and is a
connector
  between Tor and the local OS. Any protocol which is based on IP can be
  transmitted. Of course, UDP and TCP (and probably ICMP) are the most important
  ones but all other protocols can also be forwarded through it. OnionCat is
  based on IPv6 but the since version 0.1.9 also IPv4 packets are forwarded. In
  any case the local OS must support IPv6. See OnionCat and IPv4 for
  configuration of IPv4 transport. OnionCat now also supports TAP devices for
  bridging virtual machines and it supports IPv6 routing.

I am in the process of updating and cleaning up the packaging debian/
directory shipped in upstream SVN, aiming at putting the package in
good shape so that it can be uploaded into the Debian archive.
I intend to maintain this package in collab-maint to start with.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cookie-monster/
* License : Mozilla Public License, version 1.1
  Description : Iceweasel/Firefox extension

The Cookie Monster extension for Iceweasel/Firefox brings a powerful
control over the way cookies are set or not.
.
It makes it very easy to manage cookies in a whitelist-based way.
.
Cookie Monster features fine-grained temporary or permanent domain,
website and/or subdomains whitelisting in the same way the NoScript
extension does for scripts. For added ease of use, its user interface
is similar to the NoScript extension's one.

To the best of my knowledge, no extension currently in Debian allows
users to deal with cookies this way. Cookie Monster is to cookies what
NoScript is to JavaScript. Among the various vaguely similar
extensions I have reviewed and/or tested, only CS Lite is on par with
Cookie Monster feature-wise... but has not been maintained for a
while, and lacks the UI similarity with NoScript offered by Cookie
Monster.

I've justed tested Cookie Monster 1.0.5 using both Squeeze's Iceweasel
and Mike Hommey's backports of Iceweasel 4. Works fine in both
environments.

Bug#623309: vidalia: wrong CookieAuthentication / ControlPort documentation

2011-04-19 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: vidalia
Version: 0.2.10-3
Severity: normal

Hi,

README.Debian reads:

There are three ways of running Vidalia:

1. (Re)Configure Vidalia not to let Tor start, and simply start Vidalia.
2. Enable CookieAuthentication in Tor's config, and grab
  /var/lib/tor/control_auth_cookie(RECOMMENDED for greater security)
3. Enable ControlPort and use HashedControlPassword from
  'tor --hash-password'.

... and the rest of this document follows this path.

I think this is misleading. Both CookieAuthentication and
HashedControlPassword are access control methods to Tor's ControlPort
= getting the second method to work *also* requires enabling the
ControlPort, which is not mentioned anywhere in this document.

Bug#623203: vidalia: config script kills system-wide Tor daemon while instructed to let it alone

2011-04-18 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: vidalia
Version: 0.2.10-3
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,

vidalia.config script contains wrong logic I think: it kills the
system-wide Tor daemon if vidalia/tor-daemon-interaction is set to
nothing or one-off. According to the debconf templates, nothing
means:

   * No configuration:
 leave Tor running for now. Vidalia will not be able to
 communicate with Tor until it is manually reconfigured - see
 /usr/share/doc/vidalia/README.Debian for more details;

In that case, I don't think Vidalia's config script should interfere
in any way with the system-wide Tor daemon.

On the other hand, when this debconf parameter has the permanent
value, I think Vidalia's config script should stop it as documented:

   * Permanent takeover:
 stop Tor and simply let Vidalia handle starting it whenever you
 run Vidalia (not usable on a multi-user system).

The attached Git patch (against current packaging repository master
branch) fixes this, I think.

I'm only setting severity normal, but this bug may deserve a higher
severity as it interferes with (and even kills) another package's bits
while asked not to do so.

Bug#617732: laptop-mode-tools: cannot set Turbo Boost special CPU max. frequency

2011-03-10 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: laptop-mode-tools
Version: 1.57-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

Context: trying to have laptop-mode-tools automatically enable the
Turbo Boost feature on an Intel Core i5-560M CPU.

  $ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_frequencies
  2667000 2666000 2533000 2399000 2266000 2133000 1999000 1866000 1733000
1599000 1466000 1333000 1199000

Every cpufreq governor defaults to setting scaling_max_freq to
2666000, i.e. the fastest except the special additional one (2667000)
that would enable Turbo Boost.

When using the performance governor, setting scaling_max_freq to the
special Turbo Boost -enabling frequency (2667000) enables the Turbo
Boost feature. This works nicely when done by hand, so I decided I
wanted laptop-mode-tools to do it automatically by setting these
options:

LM_AC_CPU_MAXFREQ=2667000
NOLM_AC_CPU_MAXFREQ=2667000

This did not work like intended, so I've dug a bit deeper. Note: all
following tests have been tried after killing gnome-power-manager and
upowerd, in case they might interfere.

When using one of the ondemand or conservative governors, setting
scaling_max_freq to the special Turbo Boost -enabling frequency has no
effect: scaling_max_freq is actually *not* changed at all. One may
argue this is actually a kernel, CPU, ACPI, BIOS, or whatever bug, but
I think that is orthogonal to the bug I am currently reporting: I'm
only explaining the needed bits of context.

When plugging the AC in, laptop-mode-tools' cpufreq module does (at
least) the following in order for every CPU (verified in verbose
mode):

  1. Set the new max. frequency.
  2. Set the new min. frequency.
  3. Set the new governor.

  = When the previous governor was ondemand or conservative, step #1 has
 no effect and the special Turbo Boost -enabling frequency is not
 set.

For this reason, I therefore suggest re-ordering the steps to:

  1. Set the new governor.
  2. Set the new max. frequency.
  3. Set the new min. frequency.

  = the new max. frequency is not set either.

The only way I had the whole thing working like intended was:

  1. Set the new governor.
  2. sleep 1
  3. Set the new max. frequency.
  4. Set the new min. frequency.

I have not checked the kernel documentation, but I doubt we can expect
the governor change to always happen immediately = inserting a small
delay like I did seems a bit ugly, but somehow needed.

What do you think?

Bug#609031: xul-ext-firegpg: no way to use a TLS-enabled connection to keyservers

2011-01-05 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: xul-ext-firegpg
Version: 0.8-1
Severity: normal

Hi!

  * If extensions.firegpg.keyserver is set to
hkps://keys.indymedia.org, it does not pass FireGPG preferences
validation and the default FireGPG keyserver is used.
  * If extensions.firegpg.keyserver is set to keys.indymedia.org,
FireGPG invokes gpg with the --keyserver keys.indymedia.org option
that prevents the use of hkps://.
  * If extensions.firegpg.keyserver is not set, the default FireGPG
keyserver (pool.sks-keyservers.net) is used.
  * If extensions.firegpg.keyserver is set to an empty string, the
default FireGPG keyserver is used.

Seems like FireGPG should be a bit less restrictive when validating
this setting, or allow using whatever is configured in gpg.conf.

Hint: this is likely to prevent FireGPG users from using hkpms:// as
well ;)

Bug#607707: autorun4linuxcd: non-working run in a VM functionality

2010-12-21 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: autorun4linuxcd
Version: 0.13
Severity: normal

Hi,

the graphical launcher shipped by autorun4linuxcd proposes the user to
boot the Live system in a qemu VM but -contrary to the upstream
autorun4linuxcd- does not provide the necessary emulation software for
this to actually work.

I believe the removal of qemu should at least be mentioned in
README.Debian, probably with hints on how this can be workaround'ed.

IMHO best would be to compile qemu for Windows at package build time
and ship it along with the menu that uses it, but this part
obviously does not deserve more than wishlist priority.

Hi,

(0.2+20090917-10), the post-update symlink in
/srv/gitosis/repositories/gitosis-admin.git/hooks/post-update is
dangling.

It still points to
/usr/share/python-support/gitosis/gitosis-0.2-py2.5.egg/gitosis/templates/admin/hooks/post-update
which does not exist anymore.

= pushing to the gitosis-admin repository has no effect on the

Bug#595375: xul-ext-torbutton: Leaks fingerprintable User-Agent when extensions.torbutton.spoof_english = false

2010-09-03 Thread intrigeri+debian
Package: xul-ext-torbutton
Version: 1.2.5-1
Severity: important
Tags: security

Hi,

Context
===

I am using the default preferences for the following settings:

pref(extensions.torbutton.set_uagent,true);
pref(extensions.torbutton.useragent_override, Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U;
Windows NT 6.1; LANG; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3);

What works
==

extensions.torbutton.spoof_english defaults to true in
/usr/share/xul-ext/torbutton/defaults/preferences/preferences.js.

In this default case, the reported User-Agent is:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401
Firefox/3.6.3

i.e. the LANG placeholder is correctly replaced with a standard
looking locale in the torbutton_set_uagent() function.

What does not work
==

When extensions.torbutton.spoof_english is set to true the reported
User-Agent is:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1;
chrome://global/locale/intl.properties; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401
Firefox/3.6.3

One can see the LANG placeholder is wrongly replaced with
chrome://global/locale/intl.properties instead of what is expected
i.e. the value of the general.useragent.locale preference setting.

Consequences

This leaks usage of Torbutton for userg who have disabled the
spoof_english setting. The Torbutton overridden User-Agent feature is
specifically aimed at preventing such fingerprinting. This bug makes
fingerprinting easier while the user thinks it has been made harder.

Hence the security tag and severity important.

Bye,
