Essa é a terceira vez que repito essa pergunta...
Nas outras 2 vezes ela caiu no limbo. Não obtive qualquer resposta que tenha
me ajudado. Por ser um problema recorrente, acontece com outras pessoas também.

Tá usando uma distribuição Debian Like? Bem, algumas qdestas vem por
default com alguns softwares e então estes estão encravados no sistema pra
teoricamente aumentar a velocidade de operação.
Solução 1 - Remove o gimp, que vai remover o gnome junto, então depois
instala o gnome novamente

Summary:
Debian Squeeze 64-bit was not able to use more than 3.6GB RAM. Linux
showed the problem as MTRR not covering all available RAM.
MTRR problems can be fixed by kernel if MTRR repair is enabled, e.g. in
the 3.2 kernel. However, the using the backported 3.2 kernel resulted in
kernel panic.
