I had a screen problem and restarted X, which killed Epiphany. But I
want to insist that I did not upgraded anything on the system ! I just
restarted X.

I agree that there's a big flaw in the current behaviour.
1) Sometimes, you not have read access on / of a distant host
2) You don't want to display on the desktop something you will never
use. (a direct connection to the / is rarely needed).

Here, with the proprietary Nvidia driver, color balance works fine with
totem-gstreamer if the Video sink is set to autodetect in gstreamer
properties.
If you manually set the sink to No Xv, then I can confirm that color balance
will have no effect.

This happens with a lot of file types. This is a long standing and very

ubuntu-desktop depends on gnome-themes. So for most users, this is not a
problem.
Also, I don't really understand because I think that metathemes are
already part of gnome-themes, not ubuntu-artwork :
dpkg -S /usr/share/themes/Traditional
gnome-themes: /usr/share/themes/Traditional
(for
reassigning to gnome-themes, I don't believe ubuntu-artwork is
concerned.
