2008-03-28 Thread Daniël H .
When I do the same, it creates no file in /var/crash , the only files
are fspot and firefox crashes. Is there anyone who can reproduce this?

** Description changed:

Evolution crashes when cut/past a calender item.
+ I don't know for sure it really crashes or simply quits.

[Bug 208231] [NEW] Evince opens web links in gedit

2008-03-28 Thread Nathan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

When I click on an URL link in evince it opens the downloaded HTML
source in gedit.

I expected it to show me the site in my preferred webbrowser (firefox)

When I change in nautilus to open .html files with KWrite evince opens
them with KWrite. When I choose for firefox-3.0 (I had to add it myself)
it opens in firefox with nautilus, but evince still uses the old KWrite
setting.

I'm using Hardy with evince 2.22.0-0ubuntu2, nautilus 2.22.0-0ubuntu3

[Bug 207953] Re: nautilus problem open smb file network

2008-03-28 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 206267] Re: gvfs doesn't manage sftp and ftp backends properly

2008-03-28 Thread Christophe Sauthier (huats)
Facing, I think the same problem that it was evocated here...

Connecting my self on any ssh server using gvfs (and its sfrp) backend.
I can log on the server, and see the remote directory but I cannot
change directory ... Everytime I do that I have an error DBus error
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible
causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message
bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the
network connection was broken.

Restarting dbus do not fix it...

It was working great before the last update I think (I currently runs
0.2.1-1ubuntu1)

[Bug 208260] [NEW] Too many commas in gcalctool

2008-03-28 Thread Chris Sherlock
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

If you subtract two numbers to get a number 1,000 then the comma
separator is doubled.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Type in 1000 - 2005
2. Press equals button
3. Result is -1,,005

OK, now try typing in type in

1+(5+6)

This shows as:

 1,+(5,+6)

So I believe that there is something very wrong going on here.

This is happening on: Ubuntu hardy (development branch), release: 8.04

gcalctool version is 5.22.x

[Bug 208231] Re: Evince opens web links in gedit

2008-03-28 Thread Nathan
Hi,

I tested it out with a clean profile: nearly the same happens.

1: Open a PDF document, click on an external link http://something.org
2: firefox opens the website = All ok

Since I'm a webdeveloper, and opens .html documents often to edit them I
changed the default program to open .html document from firefox to gedit
3: Open nautilus, search or create a .html file
4: Right-click on it to open the properties menu
5: go to the Open With tab
6: Select Text editor (gedit)
7: Close the menu, and click once again on the link in the PDF document
8: Gedit downloads the document, opens it and shows the HTML code

9: Repeat step 5-7, but choose firefox again
10: Firefox opens as expected

Maybe this is normal behaviour for evince because it uses gvfs or
whatever to open the documents, but it is not what I want that it does.
Maybe it is not an evince bug, but a gnome/gvfs/nautilus/whatever bug.

If you say it is my system (but it is not the user configuration, since
I used a clean new profile), I want to know what can cause it. It would
be already very useful to know what method evince uses to open links
(gnome-open, ...).

[Bug 208269] [NEW] Cannot mount USB Drive from computer:///

2008-03-28 Thread Sebastian Schulze
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

Fresh Installation of Hardy 8.04 beta, installed the latest updates. Now
nautilus doesn't mount my usb sticks or usb disks anymore.
Im filing this bug under gvfs, let me know if it should be moved elsewhere.

Expected behaviour: Plug in USB Drive - wait - Nautilus window pops up, with
the drives contents
What happens instead: Plug in USB Drive - wait - an Icon USB-Laufwerk
(USB-Drive) appears in computer:/// but I cannot mount the drive.

[Bug 208146] Re: gnometris: next block preview sometimes shows the wrong block

2008-03-28 Thread Oren Barnea
OK, I'm not sure if this is a bug in gnometris.
I tried to recreate this bug and I noticed that whenever it happens (not often,
btw -- maybe in 5% of the times) it always shows that the next block is going
to be the same as the current one, but then a different block comes.
The I saw another problem - take a look at the screenshot, the next block
preview shows two blocks overlaid one on top of the other. It could be an issue
caused by the graphics card driver or something else, I guess.
I have an nVidia 7300GT and I use the propriety drivers.

to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 208302] [NEW] smb shares not working with gvfs

2008-03-28 Thread wvengen
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Hardy Beta, I cannot access windows shares anymore:
  $ gnomevfs-ls smb://server.dom.ain/
  blah (Directory, x-directory/smb-share) size 0
  (...)
  $ gvfs-ls smb://server.dom.ain/
  $
nothing happens! smbclient can access the windows server too. The 'network
neighbourhood' does work though:
  $ gnomevfs-ls smb://
  workgroup (Regular, application/x-desktop)size 0
  mshome(Regular, application/x-desktop)size 0
  (...)
  $ gvfs-ls  smb://
  MSHOME
  WORKGROUP
  (...)
  $
Same thing happens in nautilus, of course: I can access the toplevel windows
network, but looking into a domain/workgroup/server or share doesn't work.
One more thing: I can access shares gnomevfs, but not with gvfs:
  $ gnomevfs-ls smb://server.dom.ain/share
   .(Directory, x-directory/normal) size 0 mode 0755
   .. (Directory, x-directory/normal) size 0 mode 0755
   XXX (Directory, x-directory/normal) size 0 mode 0755
  $ gvfs-ls smb://physfp.phys.tue.nl/DynStor
Error: The specified location is not mounted
  $
smbclient says: OS=[Windows Server 2003 3790 Service Pack 2] Server=[Windows
Server 2003 5.2]

[Bug 151536] Re: Hangs on login and uses 100% cpu

2008-03-28 Thread Brian Pontarelli
This is still an issue with all updates to Hardy on 3/28/2008. There is
also another bug tracking this with much less information. Someone on
the Ubuntu team should collapse into a single bug that is still open,
active and a high priority and possibly linked upstream. The other bug
is 204623:

[Bug 34813] Re: gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs

2008-03-28 Thread acabre
I think forking gedit is a little overboard. I am sure that a simple
patch is all that is needed, and could be provided for those of us who
need a resolution before the gedit dev's get around to fixing this.

I even think that a gedit plugin could probably be written to provide
the same functionality. The great thing about open source software is
where there is a manifest need, and people determined to fix it,
patching or adapting an existing application is really easy. And if the
patch is good enough, it gets merged.

[Bug 208321] [NEW] gstreamer-0.10.14 in Gutsy does not play this mpeg file when only one gstreamer 'instance' is running

2008-03-28 Thread harishcm
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem-gstreamer

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 7.10
Release:7.10

Package Version:
gstreamer-0.10.14

I was trying to play this mpeg file
http://www.myabike.com/videos/A-bike_movie2006.mpeg on totem-gstreamer.
The sound was fine but the video was jumbled up. Note that the save
screenshot option in totem displays the frame correctly though. See
attached screenshot.

I also tried 'gst-launch-0.10 playbin
uri=http://www.myabike.com/videos/A-bike_movie2006.mpeg' and got the
same jumbled up video.

A chance discovery however, was that if I started a second gstreamer
'instance', the 2nd instance would play fine. This applies to `2x gst-
launch windows' or `1 gst-launch and 1 totem window (in either order)`.
