[Bug 986689] Re: Can't connect to jabber: missing password

2012-04-22 Thread Hadmut Danisch
What's an „auth client log” and how would I get it?

This whole telepathy/empathy system with it's dbus connections is
overcomplicated and broken by design. I still do not understand which
and how many compontents are involved and how to debug them.

[Bug 986775] [NEW] Tamil characters are not displayed properly in gnome-terminal

2012-04-22 Thread mrainb0w
Public bug reported:

When I print tamil characters from a C program, the output is not
properly displayed in the terminal. If I collect the output in a file

There is some problem with gnome-terminal w.r.t displaying tamil chars.

[Bug 986808] [NEW] Recognize .nrg, .mdf or .img CD/DVD archives as archives

2012-04-22 Thread Eduard Gotwig
Public bug reported:

Brasero allows the user to burn .nrg, .mdf or .img files, but does not
show that the user. When I try to burn the file directly on a CD/DVD (
becouse it an image ) , it shown me the add files dialog. But img files
( created under Apple's Mac OS X ® ) are already CD/DVD archives, and
burning, copying the files to a CD/DVD makes them useless.

When I explicit select to burn the images, I can select the image files,
and brasero burns them fine.

Show the these files as CD/DVD image files, and handle them like those,
and not like normal files.

[Bug 986846] [NEW] gsettings-data-convert slows down login and crashes

2012-04-22 Thread FERNmann
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 with LightDM and Unity with just one user. Since
some days my login time (LightDM - Unity) ist very slow, takes 30
seconds or so. This was not happening with new users I created for
testing.

After a bit trial and error I found out that the process gsettings-data-
convert which converts old GConf data to GSettings is called every login
and takes too much time to exit. I removed /etc/xdg/autostart/gsettings-
data-convert.desktop to disable autorun and from now I had a very fast
login again.

So I called gsettings-data-convert manually and it printed the some
errors which I included in the attached file.

[Bug 986848] [NEW] An error message prompts that Python (2.7) needs to install a plugin instead of Totem needs [...]

2012-04-22 Thread Thibault D
Public bug reported:

1/ Insert a DVD and open it with Totem
2/ Totem will prompt two error messages : Search for multimedia plugins and
Impossible to find the required plugin
3/ Both messages contain the following additional sentence : Python (2.7)
needs to install a plugin to read the multimedia files of the following type :
DVD decoder subpicture

It is strange to see that Python needs the plugin, I would rather say
that Totem or your computer needs it.

Note: Menu feedback has been taken into consideration, and a set of menu
improvements are planned as part of the 12.10 'Enhanced Menu' project
(see bug description). This bug is already being used for tracking the
status of this project, so I am rolling all the bugs that will be fixed
by 'Enhanced Menu' project into this single bug.

[Bug 986897] Re: missing menu translations

2012-04-22 Thread Gabor Kelemen
I see this too.
I have downloaded this file:
http://git.gnome.org/browse/gimp/plain/po-script-fu/hu.po?h=gimp-2-6
and did
sudo msgfmt -o /usr/share/locale-langpack/hu/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20-script-fu.mo
hu.po
This made the missing translations reappear.

For some reason newer pot files both in upstream damned-lies[1], both in Ubuntu
[2] seem to contain only 61 strings instead of the former ~600.
I wonder if it has anything to do with this[3] change in intltool, since most
of the strings in gimp-script-fu are coming from scheme files[4].

[Bug 838792] Re: Restart logs out, even when there are no other people logged in

2012-04-22 Thread Bob Friesenhahn
I am also encountering this bug on Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric). Originally I
thought that it was some bug when updating packages but based on other
comments here it is apparently random behavior. The system is rarely
rebooted but the problem has been observed in perhaps 40% of the reboot
cycles since the system was installed in late November.

just to mention -
gnome has set the default quality of ogg vorbis to 0.3 (avg. 112) from the

So it would be nice if that could get a preset also
Have tried - cannot see how, all attempts lead to the 'Additional software
needed...'
Using the info from gst-inspect vorbisenc but no go?

[Bug 986983] Re: Opening Empthay from the Indicator also opens the Preference window

2012-04-22 Thread Carroarmato0
Here is how to reproduce the bug:

1) Make sure Empathy is closed first
2) Start Empathy by clicking on the Messaging Indicator and -- Chat
3) Right-click on Empathy's icon in the Unity Launcher and select Open
Preferences
4) Close Empathy (it will run in the background)
5) Now go to the Messaging Indicator and press Chat again
6) Empathy's contact list window will appear together with the Properties window

This doesn't happen when you don't open the Preferences window by
right-clicking on Open Preferences on Empathy's icon in the Unity Launcher

[Bug 987046] [NEW] shotwell's unity progress bar hangs halfway across

2012-04-22 Thread cometdog
Public bug reported:

I love that shotwell supports the Unity progress bar on shotwell's
launcher icon.

But, when I open shotwell it uses the CPU heavily for several minutes,
during which time the progress bar makes it about halfway across, and
then stops. The progress bar stops, and fortunately the CPU usage
eventually dies down as well. But then the progress bar merely remains
there indefinitely.

This process repeats every time I start shotwell. It's entirely
possible that shotwell's trying to perform some task (related to making
NEF's into jpeg thumbnails, for example?) but never finishes for some
reason? So I don't know if the issue is with the progress bar
specifically, or with some other task that never completes and then is
re-started every time I start shotwell. In any case, I have to leave
shotwell open all the time as it is difficult to work with during the
extended heavy CPU usage that occurs during every startup.

[Bug 172416] Re: eog determines image type from filename

2012-04-22 Thread B Bobo
True, but if you want to view lots of images with a responsive user-
interface, feh is more than 10 times faster than shotwell. If you start
shotwell from the command-line with a large number of images as
arguments, then type Space as fast as you can (or increase your
keyboard's default autorepeat rate) to load the next image, shotwell
takes about 1/3 second to move to the next image. With feh, it takes
about 30 milliseconds.
