[Bug 677382] Re: gir-repository fails to build from source in natty: eliminate reverse dependencies
New midgard2-core was synced from Debian fixing alternate dependencies and building now finely in Debian for all architectures, possibly making this bug valid one again (not that I understand much about the problem) since it's now dependency waiting on gir-repository-dev instead of building. Piotrek, what do you think should be done about it, fix it somehow in Debian or patch separately here in Ubuntu? ** Changed in: midgard2-core (Ubuntu Natty) Status: Invalid = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to epiphany-browser in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/677382 Title: gir-repository fails to build from source in natty: eliminate reverse dependencies -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 677382] Re: gir-repository fails to build from source in natty: eliminate reverse dependencies
I would fix midgard2-core in Debian to avoid deltas for future sync. Solution should be to add 'libgirepository1.0-dev, gir-repository-dev | libgirepository1.0-dev' to build dependencies. And I think this should not introduce http://bugs.debian.org/603235 again. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #603235 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=603235 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to epiphany-browser in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/677382 Title: gir-repository fails to build from source in natty: eliminate reverse dependencies -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 439448] Re: Visual corruption affecting several panel applets
Joaquin : TOMA ? Googled it, didn't find :) All : hmm, I'm not sure this is relevant but this seems interesting. Usually I only keep a top panel and corruption appears in the indicators area and disappears with a killall gnome-panel. I recently started my /home from scratch and kept everything as conservative out of the box as possible. I noticed that : corruption appears here more frequently in the bottom panel (show desktop applet) (and once in a while in the top panel near the canonical indicators). So this seems unrelated to the indicators. More importantly, when calling killall gnome-panel corruption doesn't disappear systematically. It actually makes it happen about 50% of the cases ! In other word : starting from an out of the box' Ubuntu install with Compiz, corruption may be triggered when calling a couple of times killall gnome-panel and can thus be reproduced very easily. Also, it is thus 1) not related to the indicators 2) not related to the GNOME startup itself as it can be reproduced afterwards We may add 3) seems to be related to themes that use the Murrine GTK engine ? 4) is definitely triggered when Compiz is enabled. I'm making assumptions and definitely didn't re-read the hundreds of comments of this bugreport. Do you think guys we could/should set up a wiki page or a poll or another statistical tool to have a better consciousness / visibility of the different factors at play ? Sorry for polluting this thread even more but : some core GNOME developers do read the upstream bugreport here : https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=596923 Can we agree on a set of facts that we could forward to them ? Several times I have lost presentations or word docs because I have to leave the computer for a few minutes. [Bug 690364] Re: nautilus crashes when tries to show a thumbnail of an xcf.bz2 file
The file /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-xcf.so is not part of the standard Ubuntu repositories, and is responsible for the crash. If you installed this via a .deb package you should be able to find out which package is responsible with dpkg -S libpixbufloader-xcf.so Otherwise you can delete or rename it, e.g. with sudo mv /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader- xcf.so{,.bak} [This will ask you for your password] But you will then also lose support for xcf in applications like eog. [Bug 439448] Re: Visual corruption affecting several panel applets
One more thing that I find interesting : - earlier I said I could trigger some corruption in the bottom panel, near the show desktop applet, by invoking killall gnome-panel a couple of times : this is true - HOWEVER, I moved the applets and put them back EXACTLY the way they were before and noticed the corruption didn't happen anymore when calling killall gnome-panel. - I thought wtf ? so I started a guest session. The panel looks exactly the same. And now, calling killall gnome-panel does indeed trigger the very same corruption in more than 50% of the cases. But what can be the differences between 2 bottom panels that contain exactly the same applets at the same location, one of which does trigger the bug easily... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 Title: Visual corruption affecting several panel applets -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I use GIMP as my primary image editing software and mostly like to compress my works (xcf files) to make them smaller. Anyways, when I save my file as xcf.bz2 in Gimp to my home directory or somewhere else, my nautilus crashes while trying to show thumbnail of the file. I think there might be a problem on this feature of nautilus. However, if I save my work as xcf.gz or solely xcf, no problem occurs. Thanks for your interest. Some of my photos do not appear in browse mode, and when I try to open them f-spot crashes with the following output: Unhandled Exception: GLib.GException: Value for PNG text chunk Thumb::URI cannot be converted to ISO-8859-1 encoding. at Gdk.Pixbuf.Savev (System.String filename, System.String type, System.String[] option_keys, System.String[] option_values) [0x0] in filename unknown:0 at FSpot.Utils.XdgThumbnailSpec.CreateFrom (Hyena.SafeUri uri, Hyena.SafeUri thumb_uri, ThumbnailSize size, FSpot.Utils.PixbufLoader loader) [0x0] in filename unknown:0 at FSpot.Utils.XdgThumbnailSpec.LoadThumbnail (Hyena.SafeUri uri, ThumbnailSize size, FSpot.Utils.PixbufLoader loader) [0x0] in filename unknown:0 at FSpot.Utils.XdgThumbnailSpec.LoadThumbnail (Hyena.SafeUri uri, ThumbnailSize size) [0x0] in filename unknown:0 at FSpot.ThumbnailLoader.ProcessRequest (.RequestItem request) [0x0] in filename unknown:0 at ImageLoaderThread.WorkerThread () [0x0] in filename unknown:0 The path to the photo does not include only ISO-8859-1 characters, but is UTF-8 encoded. Is this the cause of the problem? I don't remember any problems with my paths in the previous versions of f-spot. [Bug 691705] [NEW] Rhythmbox controls invalid when playing .asx stream
Public bug reported: Using Rhythmbox 0.12.8 on Ubuntu Netbook Remix 10.04 When I play BBC streams such as # http://bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r4.asx # http://bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r4lw.asx # http://bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r5l.asx the control gets confused. If I double-click the item in the list I get a green arrowhead in the list, but the play/pause control is still a green triangle saying play. it's tooltip, however, says 'stop playback'. If I click on it it looks exactly the same but 'not playing' appears underneath and the green arrow in the list vanishes. You can't restart with the play/pause control, you have to reselect from the list. It's all very confusing. it doesn;t work the way I would expect. Sometimes the stream doesn't start, it goes straight to pause, and I have no idea what is going on. I would expect selecting the stream to initialise the control panel, and the start/pause button to stop/start playing. I don't care whether it restarts from the buffer, or restarts live, as long as I can see what is going on. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Release:10.04 $ apt-cache policy rhythmbox rhythmbox: Installed: 0.12.8-0ubuntu7 Candidate: 0.12.8-0ubuntu7 Version table: *** 0.12.8-0ubuntu7 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 0.12.8-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: libgstreamer0.10-0 0.10.28-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-26.48-generic 2.6.32.24+drm33.11 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-26-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: wl Architecture: i386 Date: Fri Dec 17 19:57:21 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Netbook 10.04 Lucid Lynx - Release i386 (20100429.4) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gstreamer0.10 ** Affects: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 lucid ubuntu-une -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gstreamer0.10 in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691705 Title: Rhythmbox controls invalid when playing .asx stream -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Re: [Bug 439448] Re: Visual corruption affecting several panel applets
TOMA is Spanish, ;) 2010/12/17 Mahendra Tallur 439...@bugs.launchpad.net Joaquin : TOMA ? We need to draw constructive conclusions and find the solution. Binary package hint: gnome-panel, nm-applet, etc... SUMMARY: After graphical logon notification area gets scrambled. Icons are in terrible mess. Some of them are overlapping others. Sometimes network manager icon is missing. Sometimes phantom icons show up. They can be clones of any other icons in the notification area. Bug affects any graphics card: ATI, nVidia, Intel... WORKAROUND 1: Run 'killall gnome-panel' from the terminal or Gnome's Run dialog. The panels will automatically respawn correctly. WORKAROUND 2: When you get your icons distorted right-click on the affected panel (not icons) click Properties. In Panel Properties change panel orientation to Left or Right and back to Top or Bottom. In my case all icons are displayed properly, but one (nm-applet) is missing. WORKAROUND 3: Right click the Gnome panel and remove the offending applets and re-add them, i.e. Indicator Applet, etc. To unsubscribe from this bug, go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/439448/+subscribe -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 Title: Visual corruption affecting several panel applets -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 691728] [NEW] Right-clicking on Keyring icon causes seahorse-agent to become defunct
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: seahorse Steps to reproduce : 1. Configure Seahorse to display a Keyring icon in the panel when a key is in memory (through Système Préférences Chiffrement et trousseaux). 2. Run programs which use Seahorse-agent ; enter pass-phrases. 3. Everything works fine. A Keyring icon correctly appears in the panel (notification zone ?), indicating that some keys are in memory. 4. Right-click on that icon. Expected behaviour : I do not know : popup a menu, do nothing, or whatever. Observed behaviour : 1. The Keyring icon disappears. 2. The seahorse-agent process becomes defunct ; this is shown by running ps -ef | grep agent. 3. As a result, no further access to the keys is possible : any connection to the seahorse socket (/tmp/seahorse-whatever/S.gpg-agent) is refused.
