[Bug 773368] Re: Could not open certain PNG images

2012-06-10 Thread Eliah Kagan
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 172416 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/172416

@Kushal
This is happening because eog uncritically assumes filetype from filename. Most
other modern image viewers look inside the image file to figure out what kind
of image it is, which is why they do not have this bug.

as a duplicate of it.

[Bug 1011123] [NEW] Creating a folder in save or save as dialog does not work

2012-06-10 Thread Sebastian Bugiu
Public bug reported:

When I get the save dialog or save as dialog and press the create folder
button a new folder is created and I get a selected untitled folder so I
can over write it with what name I want to name it with. The problem is
that when I press any key nautilus jumps to searching for a file or
folder starting with that letter instead of overwriting the folder name.
So whatever I do I get a new folder always with Untitled Folder name. I
have to rename it manually afterwards. I worked until 11.10 and the bug
is present since the beta of 12.04.

[Bug 731570] Re: Panel clock is always exactly one second late

2012-06-10 Thread mightymouse2045
This is also an issue for me in Precise 12.04.

The panel time is up to 1 second behind the system time. I have
confirmed the system time is within .316 of a second by comparing
with my stratum 2 ntp router.

The panel time however is slower up to about one second or less when
compared with the routers time. This is concerning me as the maths
involved in calculating the panel clock or the code in calling and
displaying the system time is obiously causing this and in my opinion
should be an easy fix - this bug has been in the last 2 releases and is
still present. Add in drift allowance or -1 off the clock that it looks
so close as to be good enough :P

I mean the ntp clock should be giving good enough data to use to make
allowance for drift etc I just don't understand why this is still a
problem

[Bug 942885] Re: battery-indicator not updated

2012-06-10 Thread IanH
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1008050 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1008050

After connection of AC and then disconnecting, the power indicator seems
to work correctly. This seems to be an initialisation problem on power
up, power management should check the current status of AC supply.

[Bug 1011123] Re: Creating a folder in save or save as dialog does not work

2012-06-10 Thread Steven Scheffler
I can't reproduce this bug in 12.04, or I'm missing something.
When I open Save dialog and click on [Create Folder] a new folder placement
gets created with name Type name of new folder. I can type in the new folder
name, hit Enter and I'm in the new folder.

[Bug 1011209] [NEW] eog crashes when navigation-keys are pressed continuously

2012-06-10 Thread LJ
Public bug reported:

Eye of Gnome 3.4.1 crashes when a navigation key like the arrow-key or
enter is pressed continuously. Pressing the keys with high frequency
works fine, but when holding the key pressed, eog shows 3-5 images and
than disappears form the screen.

[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)

2012-06-10 Thread dsa42
I have the same problem.

It is not related to screen saver nor to VNC.

It is an old bug and has been around for a long time. It was originally
reported in

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-
daemon/+bug/624477

on 2010-08-26 and **INCORRECTLY** closed on 2010-09-01 by Karl Lattimer
(karl-qdh). Please give that person a reprimand. I have noticed that
Ubuntu routinely closes bugs without fixing them. That does not make
the bug go away, it just makes people hate Ubuntu.

I do not have a
   /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0
I only have
   /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-2.0
and
   /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon

I'm running gnome 2.32.1 build date 4/14/2011
I'm running Ubuntu 11.04
I have all current updates.
I'm ALWAYS running Firefox. I have used several different versions since first
noticing this problem. Currently, I'm using 13.04 I always have lots of tabs
open.
I tend to keep my system running and I stay logged in for weeks at a time.

I have seen this bug for a LONG time (many months, at the least)

when gnome-settings-daemon starts taking 100% CPU, it does so for a long
time (10-15 minutes), and then sometimes, stops monopolizing the CPU and
g-s-d usage drops down to 0%. It later can go back to using 100%

I will try deleting the
 /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-2.0/keyboard.gnome-settings-plugin
and
 /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/keyboard.gnome-settings-plugin

[Bug 854185] Re: Logon screen black

2012-06-10 Thread Bruce Pieterse
Found the problem.

When booting up the default value of
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_vidoe0/brightness is 0. I have updated my
/etc/rc.local and have added the following line before exit 0:

echo 5 /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness.

Restarted, and it works :)

Not to sure if this is a bug really, or hardware specific, so please
feel free to close or update the relevant packages.

[Bug 1011257] [NEW] x-gvfs-show option doesn't work

2012-06-10 Thread Rachel Greenham
Public bug reported:

was reporting a separate bug #1010858 about double icons appearing for
mounted filesystems, and it occurred to me that it was happening for
volumes I had listed in /etc/fstab with uhelper=udisks, the mechanism i
used in previous versions to mount internal drives and see them in
launcher etc.

In investigating, I found the apparently-new gnome-disk-utility Disks
and that seems to have new options for doing this properly, but when I
tried to use them in closest-to-default way, it failed.

The attached screenshot shows the options I had set on a volume. Below
is the line that generated in /etc/fstab:

LABEL=Spinner /mnt/Spinner auto nosuid,nodev,nofail,x-gvfs-show 0 0

It fails to mount when you try to mount it in the disk utility. An error
dialogue opens with:

Error mounting system-managed device /dev/sdg1: Command-line `mount
/mnt/Spinner' exited with non-zero exit status 32: mount: wrong fs type, bad
option, bad superblock on /dev/sdg1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
   dmesg | tail or so

 (udisks-error-quark, 0)

dmesg | tail gives:

[ 619.470006] EXT4-fs (sdg1): Unrecognized mount option x-gvfs-show
or missing value

I expect the bug isn't so much in the disk utility app itself as in the
underlying mount tools that have probably been compiled without a
required option, but the user experience is that it fails when using the
disk utility, hence reporting it here for now.

I suspect I can make this work a different way using prior knowledge, to
make it mount in /media and using uhelper=udisks2 - will be trying that
in a moment - but this seemed the logical, minimal way to proceed for
the new utility and it failed.

[Bug 1011257] Re: x-gvfs-show option doesn't work

2012-06-10 Thread Rachel Greenham
Additional note: making it work a different way half-worked. Using
gnome-disk-utility to set mount options to generate the /etc/fstab line:

LABEL=Spinner /media/Spinner auto nosuid,nodev,nofail,uhelper=udisks2 0
0

did allow the drive to mount from the disk utility; but after reboot, I
still got two icons for each volume mounted this way in the launcher, as
per bug #1010858.

I suspect the correct way to fix this is to fix x-gvfs-show mount
option though, as that seems a more natural and user-discoverable way to
get the desired effect (internal volume mounted at boot showing up in
launcher etc)

[Bug 1011265] [NEW] automatic mount options switch logic is backwards

2012-06-10 Thread Rachel Greenham
Public bug reported:

Context was in testing and reporting bug #1011257 (reports a functional
problem with actually using this dialogue). I noticed that when you go
into Edit Mount Options... on a volume, the dialogue you get has an
Automatic Mount Options switch at the top, which defaults to ON.

In this state, the rest of the dialogue is greyed out.

You have to switch that switch *OFF* to be able to ungrey the rest of
the dialogue, set some options, and save them to /etc/fstab.

This seems backwards to me. :-) Surely you should be switching the
options *ON* to be able to edit and save them.

As such this is a user interface / usability issue rather than
functionality.

Maybe the problem is a misreading of the ON/OFF switch. Maybe it's
currently written so that ON means treat entirely automatically, in the
default way and OFF means allow manual configuration. But the wording
is a bit ambiguous and I (with fairly good English language skills) read
it the other way: that the switch labelled Automatic Mount Options
means to enable the user to set options for mounting that volume
automatically, in which case the logic of the switch is definitely
reversed.

[Bug 1007588] Re: cannot set displays on dual monitor: No such interface `org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.XRANDR_2

2012-06-10 Thread jerrylamos
Today's aptitude update full upgrade the resolution appears to be
1280x1024 on the external display much better than 1024x768.

Do note selecting System Settings, Displays results in a loop - open, I
close it, automatically open, I close it, ad nauseum.

Nice to have the higher resolution back. Still have to turn the laptop
display off manually. Boots at max bright no matter what.

[Bug 965921] Re: gnome-shell most keyboard shortcuts not working

2012-06-10 Thread gcb
Thanks Bazon!

just a note, org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys for me only
had one custom shortcut i created via System
Settingskeyboardshortcuts.

gnome 3.4.2 here.

I still can't find the lock screen one...

Anyway i can textually search those keys/values? are they in a file like
gconf/gconf2 used to be?

2012-06-10 Thread Eric Drechsel
I am experiencing the keeps unlocked for entire session behavior and
still can't find a way to change the setting, in Precise. This is a
_horrible_ security flaw!! I am using GPG because I want to protect my
assets and communications, and here my OS is silently subverting my
efforts.

assume i must write a parser tool using

[Bug 904505] Re: Flash doesn't work in epiphany-browser

2012-06-10 Thread frederik.nnaji
Jeremy: so is this definitely a wontfix then?
I think that the real problem is with GTK3.
The DECISION not to be flash-compatible is certainly more of a political
nature, and i can't say i'm totally opposed to it.

still, it should be noted, incompatibility with flash is a major selling
point missed, and bug #1 will have this additional stumbling stone to
overcome on it's long path to being fixed.

4) Nothing

Hello,

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 32bit, updated to the latest available packages,
on a Macbook Pro 6,2.

The Gnome Sound applet disappeared from the top panel.
Additionally, if I try to manually run it, nothing happens and no errors are
given:
---
$ gnome-sound-applet

---

The same happens with gdb:

---
(gdb) run
Starting program: /usr/bin/gnome-sound-applet
[Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]
Using host libthread_db library /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libthread_db.so.1.

[New Thread 0xb5fffb40 (LWP 4069)]

The sound is working, e.g. Rhythmbox plays music.

Let me know if you need additional information.

Cheers

[Bug 1011345] Re: Laptop does not suspend upon closing the lid

2012-06-10 Thread tsj
For what it's worth, the laptop does go into suspend when using the menu
in the cog-shaped applet in the top panel; however when the lid is
opened the computer returns to an unlocked desktop rather than to a
password prompt.
