[Bug 1011123] [NEW] Creating a folder in save or save as dialog does not work
Public bug reported: When I get the save dialog or save as dialog and press the create folder button a new folder is created and I get a selected untitled folder so I can over write it with what name I want to name it with. [Bug 731570] Re: Panel clock is always exactly one second late
This is also an issue for me in Precise 12.04. The panel time is up to 1 second behind the system time. I have confirmed the system time is within .316 of a second by comparing with my stratum 2 ntp router. The panel time however is slower up to about one second or less when compared with the routers time. This is concerning me as the maths involved in calculating the panel clock or the code in calling and displaying the system time is obiously causing this and in my opinion should be an easy fix - this bug has been in the last 2 releases and is still present. Add in drift allowance or -1 off the clock that it looks so close as to be good enough :P I mean the ntp clock should be giving good enough data to use to make allowance for drift etc I just don't understand why this is still a problem ** Changed in: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/731570 Title: Panel clock is always exactly one second late To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/731570/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)
I have the same problem. It is not related to screen saver nor to VNC. It is an old bug and has been around for a long time. It was originally reported in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings- daemon/+bug/624477 on 2010-08-26 and **INCORRECTLY** closed on 2010-09-01 by Karl Lattimer (karl-qdh). Please give that person a reprimand. I have noticed that Ubuntu routinely closes bugs without fixing them. That does not make the bug go away, it just makes people hate Ubuntu. I do not have a /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0 I only have /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-2.0 and /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon I'm running gnome 2.32.1 build date 4/14/2011 I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 I have all current updates. I'm ALWAYS running Firefox. I have used several different versions since first noticing this problem. Currently, I'm using 13.04 I always have lots of tabs open. I tend to keep my system running and I stay logged in for weeks at a time. I have seen this bug for a LONG time (many months, at the least) when gnome-settings-daemon starts taking 100% CPU, it does so for a long time (10-15 minutes), and then sometimes, stops monopolizing the CPU and g-s-d usage drops down to 0%. It later can go back to using 100% I will try deleting the /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-2.0/keyboard.gnome-settings-plugin and /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/keyboard.gnome-settings-plugin -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969359 Title: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/969359/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1011257] [NEW] x-gvfs-show option doesn't work
Public bug reported: was reporting a separate bug #1010858 about double icons appearing for mounted filesystems, and it occurred to me that it was happening for volumes I had listed in /etc/fstab with uhelper=udisks, the mechanism i used in previous versions to mount internal drives and see them in launcher etc. In investigating, I found the apparently-new gnome-disk-utility Disks and that seems to have new options for doing this properly, but when I tried to use them in closest-to-default way, it failed. The attached screenshot shows the options I had set on a volume. Below is the line that generated in /etc/fstab: LABEL=Spinner /mnt/Spinner auto nosuid,nodev,nofail,x-gvfs-show 0 0 It fails to mount when you try to mount it in the disk utility. An error dialogue opens with: Error mounting system-managed device /dev/sdg1: Command-line `mount /mnt/Spinner' exited with non-zero exit status 32: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdg1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so (udisks-error-quark, 0) dmesg | tail gives: [ 619.470006] EXT4-fs (sdg1): Unrecognized mount option x-gvfs-show or missing value I expect the bug isn't so much in the disk utility app itself as in the underlying mount tools that have probably been compiled without a required option, but the user experience is that it fails when using the disk utility, hence reporting it here for now. I suspect I can make this work a different way using prior knowledge, to make it mount in /media and using uhelper=udisks2 - will be trying that in a moment - but this seemed the logical, minimal way to proceed for the new utility and it failed. [Bug 1011257] Re: x-gvfs-show option doesn't work
Additional note: making it work a different way half-worked. Using gnome-disk-utility to set mount options to generate the /etc/fstab line: LABEL=Spinner /media/Spinner auto nosuid,nodev,nofail,uhelper=udisks2 0 0 did allow the drive to mount from the disk utility; but after reboot, I still got two icons for each volume mounted this way in the launcher, as per bug #1010858. I suspect the correct way to fix this is to fix x-gvfs-show mount option though, as that seems a more natural and user-discoverable way to get the desired effect (internal volume mounted at boot showing up in launcher etc) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1011257 Title: x-gvfs-show option doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-disk-utility/+bug/1011257/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1011265] [NEW] automatic mount options switch logic is backwards
Public bug reported: Context was in testing and reporting bug #1011257 (reports a functional problem with actually using this dialogue). I noticed that when you go into Edit Mount Options... on a volume, the dialogue you get has an Automatic Mount Options switch at the top, which defaults to ON. In this state, the rest of the dialogue is greyed out. You have to switch that switch *OFF* to be able to ungrey the rest of the dialogue, set some options, and save them to /etc/fstab. This seems backwards to me. :-) Surely you should be switching the options *ON* to be able to edit and save them. As such this is a user interface / usability issue rather than functionality. Maybe the problem is a misreading of the ON/OFF switch. Maybe it's currently written so that ON means treat entirely automatically, in the default way and OFF means allow manual configuration. But the wording is a bit ambiguous and I (with fairly good English language skills) read it the other way: that the switch labelled Automatic Mount Options means to enable the user to set options for mounting that volume automatically, in which case the logic of the switch is definitely reversed.
