[Bug 1753776] Re: Graphics corruption (or distortion?) in login animation to Xorg sessions
The pattern of corruption looks like a pixel format mixup or colour channel overflow. So I would bet it's related to the 10-bit/8-bit colour changes in Mesa and Mutter... I can't reproduce it on my desktop (Haswell, 10-bit monitor). I can reproduce it on two laptops (Kaby Lake, 8-bit panels). Is the problem Ubuntu-specific? I've been wondering if our mesa patch(es) in this area are still necessary (since mutter fixed their side, didn't they?). ** Also affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Tags added: visual-quality ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1753776 Title: Graphics corruption (or distortion?) in login animation to Xorg sessions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1753776/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1755198] Re: gnome-software crashed with SIGSEGV in g_ptr_array_add()
I'm pretty sure this is due to the installed / featured / editor's picks being loaded at the same time and all loading the channel information. The channel code was copied off the screenshot code and has no thread protection. The solution is to only load the screenshot and channel information when explicitly requested by GNOME software - this is done when you select and individual app. There is possibly other bugs like this and this could also be triggered if other code paths in GNOME Software attempt to load screenshots and channels from different threads. ** Changed in: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1755198 Title: gnome-software crashed with SIGSEGV in g_ptr_array_add() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1755198/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1754819] Re: Using Gnome Settings' search tool works for some but not all items located under top-level menu categories
Jeremy, Daniel, Thanks for your replies. As per Daniel's suggestion, I've run apport, & have updated the bug title and description. I'll also lodge a bug report upstream as Jeremy suggests, and report back with a bug number. Jeremy, you've suggested that there are potentially multiple bugs here - I'm not sure I agree with this. I hope that by amending the bug description that I've summed up the over-arching issue, and that filing a bug report for each instance of the issue wouldn't be necessary. Please let me know your thoughts on this. With this in mind, I disagree with Daniel's assertion that the main issue in this bug report has already been fixed. [Bug 1754819] Re: Using Gnome Settings' search tool works for some but not all items located under top-level menu categories
** Description changed: (As seen in the latest daily build of 32bit Ubuntu Budgie) - See attached screenshot. Searching within settings is currently not very - useful / intuitive, as it only finds results at the level of top-level - menu entries / categories, but not the items within them. + See attached screenshot. Searching within settings is currently not as + useful / intuitive as it could be, as it finds results for some items + located within the top-level menu entries / categories, but not all + items. - As an example, searching for "uni" brings up Universal Access, but the - same search tool produces nothing when searching for items within the - Universal Access category (e.g. "contrast", "screen", "cursor", etc). + Being able to find all menu sub-items from the search tool without having to pore through individual menus is the ideal outcome, and is my intention in raising this bug report - the individual examples below are merely instances of this broader pattern. Please note that these examples seem to be changing rapidly, as overnight updates have made some search terms return valid results when only a few days ago they didn't. + + Examples of search terms that don't work / work fully: + - cursor (no items found; should return "Universal Access") + - high (ditto) + - sound (only returns the "sound" menu; should also return "Universal Access" + - sharing (brings up some valid results, but not "Notifications" which includes the item "desktop sharing". + - desktop (ditto) + + + Examples of search terms which do work properly: + - contrast + - screen + - size + Thanks, Ken. *** - --- + --- ApportVersion: 2.20.8-0ubuntu10 Architecture: i386 CurrentDesktop: Budgie:GNOME DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-03-10 (3 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Budgie 18.04 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Alpha i386 (20180307.1) Package: gnome-control-center 1:3.26.2-0ubuntu5 PackageArchitecture: i386 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-10.11-generic 4.15.3 Tags: bionic Uname: Linux 4.15.0-10-generic i686 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo _MarkForUpload: True -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1754819 Title: Using Gnome Settings' search tool works for some but not all items located under top-level menu categories To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1754819/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1754819] Re: Searching within Gnome Settings only works for top-level menu entries
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: (As seen in the latest daily build of 32bit Ubuntu Budgie) See attached screenshot. Searching within settings is currently not very useful / intuitive, as it only finds results at the level of top-level menu entries / categories, but not the items within them. As an example, searching for "uni" brings up Universal Access, but the same search tool produces nothing when searching for items within the Universal Access category (e.g. "contrast", "screen", "cursor", etc). [Bug 1208993] Re: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB
I experienced this issue twice in the last 24 hours on 16.04. Both times, I waited over an hour after the computer froze before performing a hard reset on the machine. (The expected time for the operation to complete was under 10 minutes.) In my case, the computer goes directly from working as expected to being completely unresponsive, freezing all input (keyboard, mouse, power button) and output (screen, file transfer). The bug does not appear consistently, though. After restarting the computer, performing the same file transfer worked without any issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208993 Title: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1208993/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
