Launching $ metacity & solves the problem. But there are others. For example, my session should launch an xterm -it does so, AFTER about a minute an a half (this is a core2 duo 2.33GHz Thinkpad T60p, and edgy did so in a split second). Same with gnome splash: remains there forever, until clicked.

My system has changed so much, it's hard to tell anymore. I'm runny edgy and so far so good. Definitely dragging a folder to the trash from the master HD is no problem. Can't test with slave drive because I don't have it anymore. USB pens seem to work just fine with trashing folders. -- nautilus
