I fix my laptop!
Someplace I found a work around for this issue by adding this line
"udevadm trigger --subsystem-match=power_supply"
to my /etc/pm/power.d/savepower.sh that will update dbus & hal state of the ac
adapter I think!

What can I do to help identify the issue? what can I check on kernel 15
that works and the other kernels that don't? To reiterate, suspend works

Same issue here as in post #79 on my Thinkpad R51. But, I pinned kernel
2.6.32-15 in Lucid and then everything works excellent and fast. In
kernels -14, -16 and -17 suspend fails and never resumes.

I have just done a few tests and I can boot into 2.6.32-15-generic and I
can consistently shut the laptop lid and it goes into stand by. In
2.6.32-16-generic the machine fails to go into standby and upon opening
the lid I sometimes get a message that X is in a low resolution. If I go

A very similar bug on HP 2140 MiniNotes. The bug has (so far) been
traced to the kernel, where stock version 2.6.36 fixes that bug.

thought the problem had returned this morning. Turns out, I had closed
the lid before gnome-power-manager updated the power status. I pulled
the cord, then immediately closed the lid, and nothing happen

/var/log (and a couple of others) as tmpfs, but hadn't done that on this
particular install so that logs were intact.
According to /var/log/dpkg.log, the updates were tzdata, libwbclient0,

I'm seeing this issue on a netbook - Acer Aspire One - on 32-bit Karmic
Netbook Remix, but only since an apt-get update last night. Prior to
that it worked fine.
The symptoms are that the lid closure is detected and the suspend script

This is not a solution: doesn't matter what very option is selected, lid
close action simply not intercepted by gnome-power-manager. This also
affects Karmic alfa 6 BTW.

Any progress on this bug? Still not able to suspend via lid close on
Karmic alpha 6 with updates. Suspending works as expected initiated
through hotkey press and also via panel menu. Approaching beta, this is
a regression from previous releases. Suspend on lid close was working in

Oke, I might have a hint for this. Manual suspend works for me and
suspend by closing the lid sometimes... The state as reported through

I have the same problem on an MSI MS-1012 laptop. It fails to suspend cleanly
on a lid close but works fine from the logout screen. When I closed the lid I
get a beep followed by some activity, but when I reopen the lid I get no video.
/var/log/messages contains:

I can confirm this for (Gnome) Gutsy & Hardy alpha5, on an Acer
Travelmate 2451LCi.
